This question is a bit to vague for me to answer.

I'm a big fan of Star Trek, but there are the movies and all the different series.

It's hard to compare all this with just 6 Star Wars movies.

If you would ask if I like the Star Wars movies or Star Trek movies most...

Is still wouldn't know :-D

I like Star Wars, but I can hardly consider it science fiction. Star Trek, as science fiction, is very high quality, seeing as it started several years before SW. 8-

Oh lord, you've opened up such a can of worms with this :-D

Star Wars, easily. For the same of argument, we are ignoring that bastardization of Star Wars called the prequels. I'll let you Trekkies do the same with the worst.

Star Wars has some of the most iconic moments in society as far as entertainment goes. "No, I am your father". The Death Star, the opening scroll in A New Hope...Lightsabers...etc. The acting was good, the special effects were amazing for the time, etc. Star Wars was a story. Star Trek was a series of shorts that were loosely strung together ;-)

I really like both, but if I had to chose, I'd rather live in a universe like Star Wars than Star Trek. I find it more comfortable for everyday people, unlike Star Trek which has this formal feeling to it where only the elite can really enjoy the advanced technology... But then again, both have their drawbacks and dangers...

Beside, there is that great spiritual issue in Star Wars, with the nature of the Force and all...

I like both.. Star Wars for Action... Star Trek for the thinking game..

Very well said!

Nevertheless I had to go for StarTrek, as you can obviously see from my avatar. X-D

I disagree. Roddenberry created a universe that had thought behind it and all ST series and movies stick to that general concept. I'm not a trekkie and don't know much (or anything) about it but I've always liked that idea.

Star Wars is just an FX-ed fairy tale >:-)

And why haven't you voted for ST? That one ST vote is from me ;-)

Oh no. It's here too. The Coke vs. Pepsi is coming next......... :-P

I perfer Science Fiction as realistic and thought-provoking as possible while still being interesting, and Star Wars has a real problem with that. I can go on and on and on and on about both scientific and plot flaws in Star Wars.

However, I find the he Original and Next Generation series most entertaining, but I despise the other three/four. Not only because they're following the path of 'Stargate' :-X but because they ruined the whole Star Trek experience, their reputation is permenately tarnished. |-/

Star Trek, most definitely the logical choice. Although I do think SW will win this one.

I see you've just changed your avatar. X-D

Yeah ST was stretched out way to far and it trys to be far to good, i prefer my Sci fi to be more dark and grittier like the new battlestar galactica series.

I bet you would like to be with the new starbuck mate ;-)

For me even though its a sci fi show it dosent side step the hard decisions like trek often did.

I don't like her. I don't mind the idea of a female Starbuck but I don't like her.

While the FX are very nice (especially in outer space) I quit watching after the umpteenth "frack" (or whatever you spell it)...

I'm more of a trekker.

I'll try too look past the unbalanced quantity issue, but that alone scores alot a favor toward Trek.

Story: Both have interesting and compeling stories, so no faroritism there.

The vessels: I like a few of starwars ships like the sith infiltrator and gugan sub, but I don't care for most.

I love many more ship designs of trek such as Akira class, klingon and romulan birds of prey, and the species 8472 bioship.

The locals: I like the alien environments of the starwars prequels best, like the gungan city.

Trek settings are usaully very earth-like or a bland cave.

The characters: Starwars has much more variety of non humanoid aliens and creatures whichs scores big with me, but also annoys as well, such as the driods and jarjar's personalityies.

(the thing that was with Lando in the Millenium-Falcon from Empire Strikes Back?) I don't like anything about that creature. :-X

Trek is too heavy on the humaniod alien with a forehead.

The music: Star wars has a good epic soundtrack, but I just don't like it as much as Trek's themes.

I like just about every Trek theme except Enterprise's theme "Faith of the Heart" :-X, (that was the worst decision of the franchise)

Star Trek all the way. I've been a fan of it for just about as long as I've been a Lego fan... I'm sure that if I wasn't such a big pirate fan, I'd be building Star Trek MOCs instead... ;-)

Me? Definately Star Wars. But that's not to say I don't like Star Trek. The classic series at least. I've never really taken to the others. Plenty of the classic episodes are really good, and 'City on the Edge of Forever' is just *y* . But, I know more about Star Wars and I've seen more of Star Wars, so the preference lies there. I'm sure if I'd grown up more with Star Trek, I'd prefer that.

Here's a good fact. There're some people who've done degrees in the Force, and you can buy English/Klingon translation dictionaries. :-D

I honestly like both of them. (I just opened a can of worms, didn't I?) It just depends what kind of mood I'm in.

Star Wars is for when I want an action based story that takes itself seriously. Star Trek (the original series) is when I want a sci-fi adventure that doesn't take itself very seriously

Hmmmmmmmm.... Tough descision....

Star Trek and Star Wars do have one thing in common (besides the SciFi genre) - the releases got worse as time progressed X-D

Ah I'm glad to see someone didn't forget about stargate, that is great ! I obviously voted for stargate as it has a really great story and cool special effects

voted stargate. sure the originel sw films were great, but since then the artwork has become far more important than the story. the actors in these last three were not all that fantastic either, and the less that's said about the script, the better :-|

Star trek, good lord, no. i liked the originel series for a while, but lost interest. It was after all, already quite dated when i saw them in the early 80's... The new generation sucks big time. Most of the actors had the charisma of an ant and most of the stories were terribly boring and stereotypical. DS 9? hell no... I liked the last couple of Voyager seasons , but things really went down in this last Enterprise series: no decent actors, real crappy stories, simply boring all together... a blessing to mankind when they decided to get rid of that...

i like stargate though... well... at least until season 6 or so... afterwards the team more or less falls apart and the fun kinda fades...
