8BrickMario Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I was wondering if any of you noticed any recent changes to classic LEGO parts. I noticed that the 2x2 round tiles in Lord Business's Evil Lair use tubes like other bricks instead of the crosses, so this is likely a new version that may coexist or replace the "cross" 2x2 round tiles. What other part updates have been going on recently? Quote
antp Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 There is a nice blog that references new parts but also that kind of changes to existing parts: http://www.newelementary.com/ e.g. the article about this tile change: http://www.newelementary.com/2013/07/a-neat-excision.html Quote

62Bricks Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Another one is the 1x2 panel, which has been replaced by a version with rounded corners. The new piece looks ugly if you have several of them in a line. The same thing seems to be happening with the 1x4 bracket, with rounded versions showing up on Bricklink. I recently purchased this set in a LEGO store and it had one of each type in the box! So it would seem there are still some sharp-corner versions in stock somewhere that are still being mixed into sets (or were until 2012, when this set was released) Quote
TheLegoDr Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I think they tend not to distinguish between the two molds and just use up the old stock as much as they can. It probably depends on their facility and how their storage works. That's why some sets in the same year may have different versions, or in your case where you received both in the same set. Were they in the same bag or separate bags? That may determine what stock the machines were pulling from also. Quote

It has long been the practice to use up old stock when transitioning to a new design, so I'm not real surprised. Bricklink inventories the set with two rounded-corner versions. Quote
