June 30, 201311 yr Man, I love this model . If I can manage to get my hands on one of these, Im going to add another set of lights and try to make the lights powered by a switch. Edited June 30, 201311 yr by Rishab N
July 1, 201311 yr hmm....I may have to pick one up. 199 for this is a much better value than 9398. New color, more PF elements, and awesome rims.
July 1, 201311 yr Wait, it's only AUD$219.99? The regular 9398 is bloody AUD$289.99! I'm going to be absolutely devastated if I don't get my hands on one of these... Edited July 1, 201311 yr by Hopey

July 1, 201311 yr Congratulations rm8. I'm really looking forward to add this unique set into my Technic flagship's collection but unfortunately I live in Estonia and we don't have LEGO shop@home nor LEGO official store.
July 1, 201311 yr Very great review RM8 and good PR for your blog. Greets Edwin Edited July 1, 201311 yr by VFracingteam

July 1, 201311 yr New site from 41999 http://brickgarage.blogspot.ru/2013/06/exclusive-review-of-41999-4x4-crawler.html
July 1, 201311 yr Thank you for this fantstic review on a great set! I can't wait to get my hands on that one!!
July 1, 201311 yr @ rm8: When you were refining your BOSS Crawler design with The Lego Group, did you consider replacing the Differentials with 32072 Knob Wheels? Many owners of the 9398 4x4 Crawler noted that it cliimbs better with Knob Wheels (even if it's only supposed to be driven indoors)....

Hope you sleep good without highres partlist?:) I even did not try to talk about knobs: 1) knob become weared very fast 2) chassis with differentials is safe. It is important cause it is a toy! 3) steereing without differentials is bad for axles, gears and U joints. Edited July 1, 201311 yr by rm8
July 1, 201311 yr Rm8 : thank you for this review and the numerous pictures. It gives an excellent description of this set. I have some comments and questions. I find strange that on one side of the box there is a huge inscription in French: "édition limitée", and the logo "gagnant, tu l'imagines, nous le créons", given the fact that this contest was not presented in the French Lego site. Perhaps it is to add a "luxury" touch to the product? I find this crawler even nicer without stickers, which is quite an achievement. The combination of black, white and dark blue is simple and elegant. Congratulations to you and Lego for the choice of colors. I know you can't be totally objective, but do you think that the building experience is a lot better than the 9398? With 258 more parts, I suppose the body is more interesting to build. What is the off-road performance of this set compared to the 9398? Have you compared both sets in overcoming obstacles? Have you tried the Ansmann tires (Absima 2500030)? It would be fine to see some videos about this set Thank you again for your work! Edited July 1, 201311 yr by Bulga

Perhaps it is to add a "luxury" touch to the product? I'm French. However, I found it strange too. When I've been upbroad, I have indeed seen that many small items were written "Made in France" for tourists to think that they were luxury items. ^^ I know you can't be totally objective, but do you think that the building experience is a lot better than the 9398? With 258 more parts, I suppose the body is more interesting to build. The building experience is basically the same as 9398. In fact, the winch does not change much the building experience. What is the off-road performance of this set compared to the 9398? Have you compared both sets in overcoming obstacles? The center of gravity is a bit higher due to more parts. So, the model may fall over the ground easier than 9398. But it still works very well and performs as good as 9398.
July 1, 201311 yr ^ I wonder that too. And I'm sorry to regurgitate the same question that's being asked over and over again, but how does one order the 41999? will it appear on Lego's Shop at Home site for a brief period of time? is there a specific criteria you must meet in order to purchase this set? And since I'm in Canada, is it even possible to order it from here? Additional info would be much appreciated!
July 1, 201311 yr @rm8: Thank you for a great review and detailed pictures. Looking forward to build the model with my kids. Love the rims and all the dark blue parts.
July 1, 201311 yr Thanks for the review. I can't imagine what it must be like to review your own creation. It would have been a big surprise if you wrote a negative review! It's pretty cool that there are so many different varieties of Power Functions components in this set. One of my favorite things about the set is the new dark blue parts and the custom wheels. It is a little sad to hear that there is no chance of having this color in other sets. Since the set is limited edition, there will not be enough parts in circulation for an after market, and with no further parts coming they will not be very useful for MOCing. But they sure do look great in this model. Assuming I am able to buy a copy before they sell out, I'm going to change the chassis to black and use some of those aftermarket tyres which I think will make this look even more incredible.
July 2, 201311 yr My feelings on the chassis aside the new body looks fantastic and I love the colour. It's good to see TLG have kept the winch and lights, it must be an amazing feeling to have your own model "on the selves" and TLG have also done a very good job, this has happened very quick and even the box is great. Now all they need to do is have a vacuum formed yellow tray for all the parts, a flip top lid with a clear underside and a small special bits tray . Congratulations . Just one question tho, are you allowed to review your own model?
