Venunder Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Very good building techniques all over this building, windows, stairs and roof. A good colour combination too. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4045/5121842218_24d2aa0bf5_z.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.flickr.com/photos/katy_bp/5121842218/&h=640&w=480&sz=263&tbnid=AKhzzXdEDGMJQM:&tbnh=97&tbnw=73&zoom=1&usg=__MCON8CbluZrwAAwvhKZVRPkWoYQ=&docid=zuT2lUvxd38F_M&sa=X&ei=OfbVUcqqHqHE0QX8y4HIBQ&ved=0CEUQ9QEwAg&dur=486 It is not quite the same but olive green is the closest we have except for 4842-1: Hogwarts Castle Quote
antp Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 (don't mind the minifigs, my five year old daughter put them there): What happens in the dark red brick town house stays in the dark red brick town house Partially due to your nice building, I just ordered the 21010 robie house (discounted at 135 € on Amazon.fr) to have a large amount of dark red plates Quote
Canticleer blues Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) Wow! This is an excellent building. The highlight of the house for me is the contrast of the olive green roof tiles against the beautiful dark red front- the colors work very well together! Dark gray is normally a very common color but used sparingly here as an 'accent' of sorts it complements the others perfectly. The plate 'arches' above the windows are an interesting idea, but I kinda wish there was a way to fill the gaps between them and the rest of the front (I think there's an arch that might help that, but I'm not sure it's available in dark red). The front stairs, while simple, work well too. On the whole every detail is spot-on to how you'd expect a town house to look. Great job alois! Edited July 6, 2013 by Canticleer blues Quote

That would have to be an 1x8x1 arch. Those don't exist I'm afraid. Quote
Dutchy Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I was wondering, is your Lego City a miniature of Amsterdam or something or did you come up with this yourself? Quote
alois Posted July 6, 2013 Author Posted July 6, 2013 It's not any specific town in the Netherlands, but completely made up by yours truly. It's supposed to be some kind of provincial town like Delft or IJsselstein. Yesterday I was in Apeldoorn and noticed that the buildings in the town centre are of the same scale. But Apeldoorn doesn't have a tram. Quote
Wedge09 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 This modular is awesome  You recreate perfectly the real bricks pattern Quote
PsyKater Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I just saw this and I am amused as I have the same thing in planning. There is whole box of 1x2 dark reds waiting on me... Quote
Captain Settle Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Great build. I love the colour scheme and the window design. Quote
jluck Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 (edited) Very ambitious and creative! I really love your attention to detail. Honestly, this is one of the most realistic MOCs, judging from the brick design, that I've seen, love it! Edited July 19, 2013 by jluckhaupt Quote
paostmo Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 My favorite parts are the cheese slope roof and the arch used for the front stairs. Quote
SwissBrick Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Hi alois, amazing building there! The colors fit so well together! I also like the stairs and the arches on top of the windows! Excellent, thanks for sharing! Quote
Hobbythom Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Wow, amazing technique with the brickwork above the window! Love the other builds in your flickr stream aswell! Quote
