Someone over on Cuusoo has ask me to rebuild and sell him some of my models.....sadly once Cuusoo has them, legally the design is Lego's do what they like with so to speak.

He wanted a chemist, hardware store and supermarket......now I don't mind doing it but also actual store branding might be another legal issue.....making money off someone else's trade mark.

I decided to design some new buildings, no ceiling, no floor to keep costs down......and well, I went a little over the top frontage wise but I think the first of these builds is very cool, very Art Deco indeed.

It has a modern interior, but 1920/1930's Art Deco exterior.......more to come....keep watching !

Footnote - I might have MOCing madness !

That's pretty darn cute. I daresay you get better at this all the time. Your builds are really simple, but they're starting to look more and more like you title them. I would challenge you to make this art deco building more round and maybe with a bit more curvature around the sign, but I think it's nice. Really, the space above "Chemist" is screaming for a nice curvy ornamentation. I can't say I've ever seen a Chemist shop. :look: Custom stickers are cool, but I love when you can achieve something like that with existing elements. Criticism aside, it's a very nice MOC and it would make a really cute set. An official LEGO set would force some more color in there, though. Great work!

And you definitely have MOCing madness...

Thanks for the feedback 'Hinckley'.....actually I based this one on this...

The chemist not the Woolworth's I used for inspiration and I also used an earlier frontage idea of mine from my 1950's Aussie street from a few years back (the grey bank building).

It will look better once I have built the hardware store.....which will be Art Deco inspired too.

More to come.....so keep watching ! :classic:

That'd be what we call a drug store in the more civilised parts of the world...

Very nice chemist shop! Have seen these in many countries and knew exactly what it was.

I agree with Hinck...some curves on the top front and top sides would swing it more towards Art Deco. And the addition if a pastel color or two would make it sing IMHO.

This s very exciting news!

Thanks for the feedback 'Legogal', like I wrote above it's based on that 1930's one in Queensland....well, I should again - inspired by I guess.

It will all make more sense when the hardware store is done tomorrow......so keep watching !

Hahaha! Oz is much more civilized than West Texas where I grew up! Heck back in 1973 you even had more miles of paved highway than our state and many more pubs. It seemed that families practically lived in those pubs every afternoon...quite civilized to me, but then I was really from the boonies and lived in central Alaska during college. So what did I know!

And the Aussies I met could read and write as well....so take that you Aussie bashers...hehehe!

Though we do have our own trailer trash.....in every city.

But that's scooting off away from my work here.........tomorrow the front wall/windows go up on the hardware store.....so keep watching ! :classic:

They don't seem to exist in any of your towns though LT. I think you need to accomodate them in your next build.

As for the MOC. I really like the SNOT curved frontage - it looks just right for an Art Deco building.

I would include some if my town was Tasmanian.....oh, sorry that's a joke......Tazmaniac would kill me !

Thanks for seeing the art deco in this 'eurotrash', I was doing this on a planned budget.......dollars and cents are real tight at the moment. :sadnew:

No work, no cash flow.....so I'm running on back up cash for the moment. :sadnew:

Keep watching anyway.

Very nice! (I love Art-Deco...)

Thanks 'Hoexbroe', I'll be working on this today I hope.....the grocery store is coming hopefully during the week......so yes as usual.....keep watching !

I really like the facade on both these buildings, especially the tiled columns on the hardware store. However, I'd struggle to go into any store that had the word "Crooks" in their name!

Thanks 'Kristel' and that hardware store name was real back in 1930's Adelaide.......the grocery store will be Serv-Wel grocery store.....they haven't been around in Adelaide for a good twenty years.....most became either Foodland or IGA.

Keep watching !

Ohh the hardware store is a two-floors building :) I like how's developing

Yes, it is a two storey.....that adds the fun factor to building it and once I have done that I'll build the small grocery shop - very typical of the 1930's though I'm building the interiors as modern day......keep watching !

Cool, I love the art deco look and you've captured it really well (as usual). My fav in the chemist so far, I like the SNOT awning and sides on the façade!

I look forward to more and happy building

Thanks 'timmy', actually the hardware store is based around two things.....one is an actual hardware store I found in Victoria and the upper storey is similar to those found on Coles stores back in the 1930's.....I guess that floor was used for storage, etc.,.

Keep watching !
