Or a road grader. Have TLG ever made that?

Maybe it wouldn't be interesting for everyone, but it would be something different rather than re-releases of mobile cranes and excavators and stuff.

It could feature pneumatic or PF steering of the grader blade and the ripper that some has mounted on the rear end as shown on the second pic.

I actually came across a Technic grader on Google while searching for images.

How about something like this as a super flagship?

My big problem is that most of the vehicles that Lego hasn't done are either really obscure, not playable, or not cool looking. There's only so many vehicles that you can do that appeal to the demographic.

I think a grader would be a fantastic set. I don't think we will see a remote control one, however. There is just too many functions. I'd like to see a motorized compressor, fake engine, and hog steering for both the articulation and front wheels. Everything else can be controlled by pneumatic levers in the cab. Think of it as a successor to 8455.

IIRC, LEGO has built at least one road grader in the past, but it was a b-model for one of the sets.

There are a few really nice road graders mocs, but not many. I'm currently working on two different version, one being remote control and the other manual (as described above).

Yeah, I imagine a model in the length of the Unimog, with HoG steering and turning of the blade. Features would be fake V8, rear end ripper with HoG function on raise/lower and pneumatics to raise/lower and move the blade.

I think it could be a really nice model, the only problem is I think it would look best in yellow and black/grey, but there's already too many large sets in yellow. I've only seen graders in yellow, I can't really imagine other colors.

But Daewoo and Hitachi have made excavators in orange, maybe that could fit, like with the Unimog.

Yea, Lego really has to make another pneumatic model like the 8455

One of my favourites, complex and yet satisfying, playable and it works well.

But why does everything have to be a "vehicle". I want to see something different, along the lines of the dinosaur from the Control Centre II, the pick'n'place robot from Control Centre I, or a whole series of GBC modules. Lots of gears and moving parts, playable and appealing to all ages and girls too!!

How about a front end loader and hauler cross model.

The cabin and motor is part a, and the other half can be built as either a hauler trailer or a front end loader.

When switching the models, all you would need to do to the cabin is turn the seat around. :classic:

Both have been doe fairly recently though.

I would really like to see another model with the Unimog tyres, or preferably a return of the Model Team tyres that are slightly larger than the standard truck tyres I now have 60+ of!

I would love to see a garbage truck!

In Australia we have the sideways ones, and one guy operates and drives the whole thing.

It would be great to build that mechanism with pneumatics, and the set would be awesome if it were in a cool colour like green blue or orange!

you could have nice little bins and put small pieces into them, lift it up and dump inside, then possible could "compact" inside like they do.

Awesome!

850, my first Technic set

The problem with garbage/cement trucks is that they need a lot of panels (or specialized parts for the drum) to look good, imo

Roadgraders, garbage truck, these are 2 vehicles that we used as a theme on a TechLUG contest.

And these 2 contests are among those with the most entries.

So yes, I think Lego fans would love to see these 2 vehicles turned into official sets.

i can imagine this because kids also like e.g. the plastic orange garbage trucks of the German toy manufacturer 'Bruder' - if we are honest, the real playability of many lego technic sets is poor in that sense of the purpose of a model - e.g. most cranes like the 8258 or 8110 or some others can not really lift much weight or the excavator 8043 can not really dig into something... so playability for these highend models means always something in the sense, the kids can marvel at the mechanism they have built - most kids 11 years and older don't play "digging" or lifting or gradding or garbage-collecting - but they want to build these tricky mechanisms and they want to try out them after buildung and looking at the spining gears, extracting pneumatic or similar stuff... and therefore IMHO also a well designed garbage truck or road gradder could be a great success for the main target group...

A flagship garbage truck with a loader would be very nice, and is something I have had in mind for a MOC for a long time since TLG has never made one (except for maybe 8479, which was more of a dump truck with a garbage truck-like loader).

It appears that cars and construction vehicles are what sell, but that was the great thing about the old universal sets. They allowed TLG to include all sorts of unusual models that may not have sold well as standalone sets, many of which we haven't seen anything like again.

Yes, I completely agree with this! Tho I did pour a bag of rice into a container and try to pick up using 8043!!! :D It was good fun!

A cement mixer truck would be really nice. Or a pump mixer truck.

BTW you forgot about one road grader. One of the models from set 8074 Universal Set with Flex System.

A "proper" road grader model should be bigger and more complex than the one from the 8074 set.

As I remember it - I would like to see a proper drilling rig, mid to big size, with all functions from the real thing.

Like this:

Atlas-Copco-D3-Borerigg-2.jpg

Or with a cabin, like this:

Similar to the excavators from the recent years, I know. But personally I'd rather see that, than yet another truck.

Trucks are cool if made interesting enough regarding equipment, but I feel there's been enough trucks and similar vehicles like the new mobile crane. At least I'd like to see a grader and a drilling rig with or without cabin as next year's biggest sets.

I'de love a big American style, red, white and chrome fire truck with lifting, rotating, telescopic ladder and of course lots of lovely new parts, like pneumatics in red, leaf springs for making the suspention that most trucks have, chrome checker plate textured tile pieces and so on.

Here is another page about that suction truck. http://www.felbermayr.cc/index.php?id=370&L=0%2Fzboard.php BTW make sure the page is in english. If my link is correct it should be but i first found the german page and only later realized that it can be translated. Look in the top left for a way to choose language. Seeing the brochure made me think that this is indeed a real vehicle because that first picture looks more like a transformer in mid transformation.
