Zepher Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Agreed. The issue here, Lind, is that you did not note in anywhere on your enemy. But ranged enemies are not impossible and not unfair. Quote
JimBee Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Let's break it down: Ethereal/Beast enemy vs. fire- and wind-elemental weapon Ethereal: 0x from fire, 0x from wind Beast: 2x from fire, 1x from wind Each "zero" nullifies one 2x multiplier, so it is basically 2 immunities against 1 weakness, which means the enemy is immune to the weapon's damage. It's the same deal with all other enemy types: if the enemy has more immunities against the element(s) than weaknesses, it remains immune. If they are tied, the element deals normal damage. Alright, thanks. If you could put that in the FAQ that'd be great. Or I'll just save this post somewhere... though I feel like I'm not the only one who's confused about this. Wait, I've managed to confuse myself again... let's say the attack was only fire-elemental. Would the Beast/Ethereal enemy take 1x or 2x damage? Quote
Flipz Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 1x damage. Also, I used throwing weapon enemies in 118. You can ask my Questies how that went. Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) Also, I used throwing weapon enemies in 118. You can ask my Questies how that went. Oh my god, I'd completely forgotten I built some sets for that before my hiatus, cant wait to read it! Edited April 29, 2015 by Pyrovisionary Quote
Sandy Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 Now, what about when an enemy throws a throwing/ranged weapon against a Hero? Does the halved damage to row apply to their attack, even though it wouldn't apply for a Hero? Like others said, enemies do not use weapons like heroes do, they only attack with the power of their level. I've created some "ranged" enemies myself, and they attack from the back row with full power (to all enemies despite where they are standing). But different QMs can use different strategies - the most important part is to spell it out to the players what kind of strategy the enemy is using. Wait, I've managed to confuse myself again... let's say the attack was only fire-elemental. Would the Beast/Ethereal enemy take 1x or 2x damage? Just remove the wind-element from the table and do the math again. A zero nullifies a 2x multiplier, ergo the attack causes 1x damage. I'll add it to the FAQ soon, nevertheless. Quote
Zepher Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Sandy, as the creator of the Soul-Link Chain, would "KO'd" count as an effect that would transfer with it? Quote
Sandy Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 Sandy, as the creator of the Soul-Link Chain, would "KO'd" count as an effect that would transfer with it? I didn't think about it when I first created the item, but it would be fitting that if one carrier of the Soul Link Chain is knocked out, the other one is as well. So I'd say yes. ... And now somebody will quote a post about me saying "no" to this same question. Quote
Flipz Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 No, see, I've already offloaded a huge ton of Heroica knowledge from my brain, so unless it's related to one of my more favorite stories I can't remember that stuff anymore. Quote
StickFig Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 ... And now somebody will quote a post about me saying "no" to this same question. I can't remember that stuff anymore. I love that Flipz immediately thought that was about him. Quote
JimBee Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 When a hero levels up with max health, say it was 50/50 at level 27.66, upon being promoted to level 28, would you have 50/51 or 51/51? I've run it the second way in the past, but at some point during the last Fields run I was told to do it the first way. Quote
Asphalt Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Unless you are a class that heals at the end of a battle it would be 50/51. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 So you go from being at full health, to suddenly being wounded? Quote
Asphalt Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 No read that wrong. If he started at full he would be at full. My bad. Quote

I've run it the second way in the past, but at some point during the last Fields run I was told to do it the first way. Levelling up adds 1 point to both current and maximum health and ether. Check Quest#1, it's been done that way since the beginning of this game. Quote
Yzalirk Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 How does one gain an immunity? I've seen numerous characters with them, like being immune to Fragile. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 How does one gain an immunity? I've seen numerous characters with them, like being immune to Fragile. Imbue an artefact with a scroll that inflicts the effect is one way. Sometimes artefacts come that way already. Quote
Kintobor Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Question about the Elven Shield. It gives an SP bonus to all elves in the party so long as it's active. Does this include half elves? Quote
Asphalt Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 (edited) I would say strictly speaking no. Depends on how hard and fast you want to play it. Edited May 12, 2015 by Asphalt Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 I would say that a magical shield that protects all elves that are allied with the wearer wouldn't care about technicalities. Then again, that includes me, don't it? Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Maybe it gives half as much SP to them. Ha! Good idea! Is anyone in our group a half elf? ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Enceladus Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 I would say because there are relatively few elves in the game it should affect half elves as well, purely to make it a more useful and balenced item (in a similar way to how Lind was criticised in quest 118 with those orcish gauntlets for making them to specialised) Quote
Kintobor Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Ha! Good idea! Is anyone in our group a half elf? ~Insectoid Aristocrat Warlen. I believe elves can't grow facial hair, so that's the tip off. Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 True fact: Warlen wants a beard when he's old and white haired. Sadly, due to his not being a full human, he can't. (Magic time?) Quote
