Yzalirk Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Uhhh...Basic classes as in Rogues, Knights, Mages, etc. Not sure how you got NPC out of that. It's necessary because the universe is not strictly fantasy, so a few changes - mostly renames - need to be made to adapt for the setting. If you aren't doing them for NPC's, than who are you doing the changes for? Players? Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 If you aren't doing them for NPC's, than who are you doing the changes for? Players? I'm renaming the Player Classes and their equipment readouts. That's about it... Quote

Sandy Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 Would it be alright if I modified the rules/basic classes to use for a small, private quest* among some acquaintances? *If it proves popular, that might become quests... (The quest would very much be in a non-Heroica setting, it's not something I could run here.) Yes, by all means everything you see here can be freely used to inspire other games - I was inspired by other games as well when I made this one, after all. Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 After reading what you want to do again, Lind, I think I understand what you originally meant - you want to create another RPG on the site but isn't the theme of Heroica. Correct me if I'm wrong but if that's true, I think that's pretty cool and I would join it. I thought you wanted wanted to rename things for players for some reason. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I think he wants to post it on another forum altogether Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) You mean like a forum on another site or just for it's own new section, like Heroica, that would go under LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games? Edited August 5, 2015 by Goliath Quote
Alfadas Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Probably on another site, but please give us the site, I'd like to join as well. Quote

That's correct, and thanks, but it's a private site.I'd direct them over here, but Heroica has a tendency to be on the...more grown-up side of things, occasionally. (See ending of #122 for a prime example.) I'm in the younger half of people over here, and in the older half of people over there. Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 What's the other site if you don't mind me asking? Quote

Asphalt Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 If a party is split, and half of it is KO'd in a battle, what happens to those party members? Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 If a party is split, and half of it is KO'd in a battle, what happens to those party members? That...is a really good question. I suppose, since the KO'd party is acting as a group, they lose and fail the quest...I suppose... Let me do the math on something... Actually, you can survive the battle by just standing in the back row and healing yourself. 40/2 = 20 20-4=16 damage, and you have a healthy 42/42 health, so there's no way he can kill you with a Free Hit. The Sniper is Poisoned by 53, so he'll be dead in only 5 rounds. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Throlar got KO'd when separated from the party on #100 and he failed the quest. Then again, Sandy treated that like an entirely different quest, so I don't know what would happen in this case. Quote
Kintobor Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 The two other heroes would have to come and revive you. At least, that's how I'm running it. Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Has there been any thought to adding more tools in Gnomeo's Toolshed? I have some ideas that could work rather well. Quote
Sandy Posted August 8, 2015 Author Posted August 8, 2015 If a party is split, and half of it is KO'd in a battle, what happens to those party members? It depends on the quest and the QM, really. If there is a possibility that the surviving party will run into the knocked out heroes, they can be revived, but if the quest is purposefully split into half for the remainder of the quest, then the other party would fail their half of the quest. But it's always in the QM's jurisdiction what happens - and having a party fail by losing a battle in the middle of the quest is the last thing a QM generally wants to happen. Has there been any thought to adding more tools in Gnomeo's Toolshed? I have some ideas that could work rather well. Not really, but if you have ideas, please share them. Tools are mostly roleplaying items, mind you, that bear no consequence inside battles (except for Artisans). Quote
Flipz Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Has there been any thought to adding more tools in Gnomeo's Toolshed? I have some ideas that could work rather well. There have been quite a few interesting tools added to the game over the years, but most of them end up as drops in Quests. I like that; it makes the Artisan's SHIELD roll make (a little) sense, since Gnomeo would only teach the Artisan about the tools he actually sells, but at the same time that doesn't limit tools to only be available from Gnomeo himself. So by all means, post your ideas, so I can steal them for future loot drops. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 So by all means, post your ideas, so I can steal them for future loot drops. Speaking of which, we really need a Bashing Shield dropped.Bashing Shield: SP: 2, grants the Shield Bashing trait(Secondary target can be hit each round for total of SP x power) Quote
Myrddyn Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Here's where a sub-party were all K/O'ed back on #96. In #100 it worked differently, because it was a completely different quest. Both options worked well, and I think it's up to the QM to determine what exactly happens. I think there might have even been a case where the whole party was K/O'ed without the quest failing, though I have no idea which quest it may have been. Speaking of which, we really need a Bashing Shield dropped. See Vindicator's roll of 4: "Shield Bash", and Kiray's Two Fanged Orcish Shield (Shield Bash Replaces Meditate)(Shield Bash does damage = SP and stuns the target) Quote

Here are a couple of ideas I had in mind: - Axe (Used to cut down trees and other wooden barriers) - Fishing Rod (Used to capture fish, which can be interrogated by players with the Animal Talk trait, or killed for Poultry) - Small Trap (Used to capture small animals, which can be interrogated by players with the Animal Talk trait, or killed for a Morsel and a Bone) - Rucksack (Used to lure NPC's) - Scissors (Used to cut anything with string, preferably traps) - Crowbar (used to pry open locked doors) - Toolbox (used to fix broken Machines and various objects) NOTE: The Toolbox would probably be the most expensive thing for sure because of how handy it is but if you collect a Wrench, a Pein Hammer, a Mallet, a Saw, an Oil Can and a Screwdriver, that creates one Toolbox. The Poultry and Morsel can be be used to restore health - 3 if uncooked but has a 25% chance to cause the Poisoned effect but if cooked, it just restores 5 health. Those were just some ideas I had in mind while looking at some Minifigure Utensils on BrickLink that I thought would work pretty good for tools players can use whiles on quests. They aren't perfect but I did my best to make the uses sound reasonable. Edited August 8, 2015 by Goliath Quote
