Asphalt Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) So if a bone is thrown at an enemy does that enemy then do nothing that round ? How does the phone work exactly ? Edited August 9, 2015 by Asphalt Quote
Flipz Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 A bone is basically a stalling action--i.e. you use up the bone, and that enemy is unable to deliver a Free Hit against you for that Round. On the one hand, it's a guaranteed way to keep an enemy from Free Hitting you without the risk of rolling Damage or Special Damage--on the other, you have no chance to roll your own SHIELD or other good rolls. That said, if you throw a bone at an enemy, it only prevents the Free Hit--if someone else targets the enemy after you, having thrown the Bone does nothing to prevent them from rolling Damage or Special Damage; the bone is basically wasted in that case. JimBee Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Bones can come in handy in a pinch and they should be dropped more often. Quote
Asphalt Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Do bones work on any enemy? Or only certwin types? Quote
Endgame Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Just went back and read the description - Rules & FAQ says it works on monsters, the item description just says "distracts an enemy". Odd, but I suppose it would work on Vorpalis then? Quote
Endgame Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) So humans are monsters, and would chase a bone like a dog? Edited August 9, 2015 by Endgame Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Monsters is not an enemy type, the term has been used synonymous with enemy. A humanoid type Ogre might seem like a monster to a dwarf. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 If you were fighting another PC, could you throw bones at them? Quote
K-Nut Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Could you? Yes. Would it be worthwhile? Probably not. Quote
Endgame Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Poison them and make them chase their own tails for 5 rounds while their HP ticks away. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Could you? Yes. Would it be worthwhile? Probably not. I was seeing a way to rack up points in the Arena, in the unlikely case the scoring system was revamped a certain way... Poison them and make them chase their own tails for 5 rounds while their HP ticks away. Ooh, that would work in the Arena regardless of a revamp. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Poison them and make them chase their own tails for 5 rounds while their HP ticks away. I remember back when I was playing Sage, Arthur just kept sealing me. Sinc I couldn't physically attack, I had to run around like an idiot (still won, by the way ) Quote
Flipz Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I've always seen throwing a bone as being like throwing something right at someone's face to make them flinch. Quote
Asphalt Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 That is how I thought of it as well. "What the Block? Did you just throw leftovers at me?" Quote
Flipz Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Just so I'm completely clear on mechanics, a Weather Mage's Mist won't make undead vulnerable to non-imbued weaponry, correct? Quote
Sandy Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 Just so I'm completely clear on mechanics, a Weather Mage's Mist won't make undead vulnerable to non-imbued weaponry, correct? Err, no... What kind of logic did you use to even get there? Mist only nullifies elemental immunities. Non-elemental immunity is just that, not elemental. Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Weird question - what would a Nautican look like? I noticed that for the Merfolk, there are different tribes for each and saw that a Nautican, which sounds awesome, but I'm not sure how they look. Same goes with some of the others but for Octopial, I can understand that is would look like an octopus based on the name. Quote

One appeared in a Bonaparte quest, they look like the Star Wars species of the same name. An Octopial character also appeared in CAT. Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I was originally thinking the Bossk head would work but I suppose it can't really work for a Nautican than. Any thoughts on what I could use the Bossk head for? Quote

K-Nut Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 It's been used for the Ziegfrieds butler, Schuhester. I don't think there's a technical race, though. Quote
