Flipz Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) I'm just trying to figure out the benefits of carrying one. Shields take a turn to equip - would this be used as a "last resort" weapon, if all you had were throwing weapons and you'd thrown all of them? No they don't. They act like weapons--if you have a shield that's immune to lightning and one that's immune to darkness, you can switch to using the Immune to Darkness one if you see your enemies have Darkness-elemental attacks, and it won't affect your attack. Honestly, a shield that added its SP as a WP bonus to throwing weapons would probably be simpler. Edited August 19, 2015 by Flipz Quote
Palathadric Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 ...but still rather overpowered in my opinion. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Were there every any rulings not listed in the main rules regarding weapons that deal Fragile? I just wanted to check because the only weapons that deal it are all Maces... Quote

I just wanted to check because the only weapons that deal it are all Maces... Well, yeah, because Maces and hammers and the like make the most sense to be dealing Fragile. If you want to drop a weapon that deals Fragile, I'd contact Sandy by PM; he's really good about approving or disapproving items that way. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) If you want to drop a weapon that deals Fragile... It's more that I want to have a weapon that deals Fragile. Dragoons can't carry maces and I want to capitalize on my new backwear. Edited August 19, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Question - could someone be clever and, while Hastened, use this - Charred Longsword (WP:10 1/6 chance of breaking at the end of every round, if equipped, longsword) - as their first turn, and then swap to another weapon for the second turn, thus avoiding the breaking roll, since it wouldn't "be equipped at the end of the round"? Quote
Endgame Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Yes, I suppose, but if you have a weapon with a WP more than 5, it's hardly worth it. Quote

Completely - I just wanted to double check out of curiosity and find out if that was a viable strategy with a weapon like that. Edited August 20, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote
Flipz Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Breaking weapons come in two varieties: semi-consumable effect dealers (i.e. Karie's Rusty Dagger), and vendor trash. Quote
Endgame Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Item suggestion for all of you QMs out there: A sword that starts at, say, WP: 50 goes down by 1 with very use, and cannot be upgraded. Quote

I think that the description is worded wrong (no offense to the creator of the sword). The sword should obviously have a chance to break after every use. Weapons do not usually break while being sheated. Were there every any rulings not listed in the main rules regarding weapons that deal Fragile? I just wanted to check because the only weapons that deal it are all Maces... Weapon types and the effects they carry (usually) have no correlation - it is just a coincidence that all the fragile-inflicting weapons are maces. Having QM'd before, you should know that you could drop a fragile-inflicting sword in your quest, for example. Quote

It was just such a consistent pattern, I thought it was worth double checking. Edited August 20, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote

Purpearljellyblob Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Originally it was designed to break even if a character does nothing or use a consumable or does something else other than swinging it at the enemy. I can see how it is now, and I have changed the description to "1/6 chance to break when used" so that it is more consistent with other breakable weapons/artefacts. Quote
Kintobor Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Question: Would the Spellbound Gloves affect a Minstrel's casting of certain Battle Songs, like Angelic Aria? Quote
Sandy Posted August 23, 2015 Author Posted August 23, 2015 Question: Would the Spellbound Gloves affect a Minstrel's casting of certain Battle Songs, like Angelic Aria? No, Angelic Aria (and other such Battle Songs) is only calculated by the level of the Minstrel. They are not spells in the literal sense. Quote
Asphalt Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 When does the effect of the Fenghuang Essence expire? If consumed does it last one battle, one quest, or until a revival is needed? Quote
Sandy Posted August 23, 2015 Author Posted August 23, 2015 When does the effect of the Fenghuang Essence expire? If consumed does it last one battle, one quest, or until a revival is needed? It lasts for one battle, like all temporary effects. Quote
Mencot Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 So the "Hunter" class, if one would advance to hunter from "barbarian", one is allowed to start using range weapons or is it just if you are a ranger and advance to hunter? Quote
K-Nut Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 You can advance from Barbarian. It's just changing to a new class, so you can do whatever the class can. Quote

What do you mean? You don't get a free ranged weapon if you go to an advanced class, but keep in mind that an advanced class can use all weapons usable by both origin classes. Quote

You don't get a free ranged weapon if you go to an advanced class, This would be actually super cool, "advance to next lvl get a super overpowered weapon or artifact Quote
Asphalt Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Just be on the lookout for things that would assist in your next character class. Like Vindsval got the Twin Sai when he was a cleric in preparation for him becoming a witch. Quote
