I don't think this is a scripted loss - it's been worded as a success for Traitor Pretzel, and the way the battle was structured looks like it was meant to be won (otherwise just give Farfarello stupidly high stats.)

I wonder what will happen if the smoke bomb throws are successful... On the one hand, it should get the party out of the battle...but Pretzel is still Mind-Flayed. :look:

I'm pretty sure it was previously stated that fleeing is impossible in those tunnels.

So a hero who is confused and hits an ally just does damage = level+WP+power bonus, right? They can't deal critical hits or anything?

A Confused hero's attack is rolled like any other; if an Aim/Hit/Critical Hit/SHIELD is rolled, however, there is a 50-50 chance that the attack will be redirected to an ally instead of an enemy.

If we're talking about the "chance to attack if doing nothing/using items on self" ruling, I'm a bit less certain. I think it's supposed to be a normal Hit, but I'd have to start searching through Quests to be certain. :blush:

Okay. I found this in quest 130, which is where I got the impression it wasn't rolled - when Sarge isn't confused, Sandy specifically says it's a critical hit, whereas when he is confused it doesn't specify.

I wouldn't bother searching through quests though, confused is just too confusing.

QM Note: Germ needs to go back and pick them up. It is a good habit to adopt.

It may be a nice RP habit, depending on interpretation, but it's automatically assumed that expended throwing weapons are recovered after a battle.

Nothing personal but I will defer answering your question. It has to do with the quest and the reasons why I do it will reveal itself later on. I could have narrated it but if Germ doesn't do it, I will have to narrate it for him later.

Can confirm that, by normal rules (as shown in a few Fields runs), throwing weapons are automatically returned to the owner at the end of the battle; it's like Natural Respite. This doesn't preclude specific Quest changes, but it is highly unusual.

I'll run updates in a few more hours, sorry for the delay.

I am well aware that throwing weapons are automatically returned, as I have done for the past few battles. But I needed him to do it this one time for the quest. If the consensus is there, I will narrate for Germ. Take it as an opportunity lost. :sceptic:

I dont see a problem in asking him to post the retreival in order to help build plot device. If you want to as the qm i say it is within your pervue to request it. It does not effect the game mechanics does it?

That's the sort of thing I usually just don't respond to. You're not screwing him over, you explained how to get them back! Don't let outsiders break the flow of your quest. If the questees complain, it becomes a discussion. But if not, let it ride. :thumbup: Everyone runs their own quests a little differently.

Is it to find something else? (I do not want to say here to avoid some sort of spoilers.) I did post some thing in the thread to get the "weapons" back.

My understanding was that Dual-Strike counts as targeting two different enemies, whereas Dyric's crossbow (like Matthias' handcannon) will hit three, but only count as targeting 1. If that's incorrect, I apologize.

That is incorrect. Dual-striking weapons only "target" one enemy. The other enemy would still get a free hit.

Pala is right on the nose, with the exception of Marauder.

...anyone in favor of just making dual-strike weapons act like Marauder outright to reduce confusion? Would help make them more balanced, too.

Considering that makes dual strike essentially perma-hastened I'd prefer not.

Do you mean dual hit/dual damage? Doesn't that negate what's unique about Marauder? :sceptic:

I was thinking more along the lines of making dual-strike have to take Dual Damage and Dual Special Damage. But I suppose you make a fair point.
