Flipz Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Can't seem to find the description anywhere. May have just been in Elphaba's shop. Check my inventory, I have one, should list all the relevant effects. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Check my inventory, I have one, should list all the relevant effects. Thanks! Stunned, blinded, sealed, asleep, poisoned, confused. Found it right before you replied. Edited April 2, 2014 by UsernameMDM Quote
JimBee Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 OoC: I, also, would like to hear sandy's view. I viewed it as in enemy 1 attacks me, I reflect their level in damage back at them. Then any damage I take is the same way you calculated it. Here is the official ruling. Posted here in the Rules topic for posterity. The way Free Hits work is that you take cumulative damage, not one by one. Why would the Iris Shield make that rule work differently? Quote
Palathadric Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Throlar vs. Eric- 12+10/2-5=6 damage. *COUNTERSTRIKE* 22-5=17 KO! Kintobor, I'm pretty sure that Eric would not counter Throlar. I'm not entirely certain though. Quote
Kintobor Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 If I screwed up it wouldn't have changed a whole lot. The poison would've knocked him out anyways. I figured since Throlar is making a free hit against Eric on the battle order, Eric's counterstrike gloves would work.cI could be wrong though. Quote
Palathadric Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 >??? heals Darksten (back): No heal Ether: 4/5 Failed Healing doesn't deduct ether. ...Unless, of course, that was one of the rules that changed recently. Quote
Zepher Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Logically, perhaps he wouldn't strike back, but the counterstrike gloves probably would as described mechanically! It doesn't happen a ton in the game, but once in a blue moon, to keep things simpler and more concise, we forgo specific logic and apply a blanket mechanic. Quote

The description can't really be misread. A foe is a foe, even if it is a turned party member, IMO . BUT, if you're going to down Throlar because of my Counterstrike, you also need to deduct some health from the Left Claw in the first round, because of my Counterstriking ability! Or am I wrong there? Quote

It should be noted that Throlar's attack should still be listed in the regular battle order and not be considered a free hit. You still roll for him, but he targets a random ally. Quote

Damn it, there goes the use of my Counterstrike Gloves! Quote

Well, I did some leg work, and can't find any instance where Karie was hexed for more than 2 rounds, and on the second there was a change in the mechanics. I'll go with Waterbrick Down's ruling for now just to be safe. Quote
Lego Spy Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) Hi, I just joined the RPG, and I'm wondering how to join a quest. Where do you sign up for one? Edited April 10, 2014 by Lego Spy Quote
Endgame Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Welcome to Heroica, Lego Spy! Just as a note: You actually start out with weapons and an item. You can refer to the first page of this topic to see what a Ranger starts the game with. You sign up for quests in Heroica Hall. Quote

Flipz Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Alright, I've made those changes. Thanks Endgame! Edit: I also noticed that quest #99 states "four experienced heroes". Should I wait for Quest #100? 2nd Edit ( ): I noticed there's an "Unlimited Quest". Can I enter this one at any time? The Unlimited Quest generally opens sign-ups just as soon as the party already in the Fields is finished, and usually a new party departs when enough active players have expressed interest. That said, a new party has just recently entered the Fields, and probably won't be leaving for a while. Unfortunately, you've arrived amidst a particularly sparse dry spell, but things should pick up soon. Quote

Have a look at the first page of this topic, it has all the rules plus the information for starting characters. (Particularly starting health, power and items. Then there may be a little wait for a quest to come up. Don't sweat the wait, there's a dozen or so guys who run quests and when there are a few new people, an easy quest will run. Otherwise, if you're not sure if a quest would be right, drop the person running it a private message and ask politely if the quest would work for a new character. Meantime enjoy the free drinks in the hall and read up on some past quests to get a feel for the game. Quote

Chromeknight Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Quests are like cars going on a trip. They hold a certain number of people, and off they go to different places. The unlimited quest is a bus route. When it comes by, it takes some people, when they get off, it is ready to take a new group of people to the same place. Quote
CMP Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 (One question: You sign-up for the Unlimited Quest in the Hall when there are spots open, correct?) Yeah. When the current party leaves the Fields, the sign-ups will reopen. Quote
Duvors Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Okay, I'll be patient. Hello there, I'd just like to remind you that everyone here starts with ten gold. Quote
Sandy Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 Wait, that's how Special Mirror works? ...Thank you, Sandy. Don't take this as a general ruling, but doesn't it make sense that if a Witch isn't hit with anything, then s/he cannot reflect anything back? It's a rare occurence that an enemy's Special doesn't affect the target, anyway. What's your opinion on Specials that heal or buff the enemies, guys? Should SPECIAL MIRROR affect those? Quote
CMP Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 What's your opinion on Specials that heal or buff the enemies, guys? Should SPECIAL MIRROR affect those? It always has, I don't see any reason to change it. Quote
Sandy Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 It always has, I don't see any reason to change it. I think I've always treated them in a case-by-case basis. It works if the case is that the Special gives enemy a positive effect, since it's simple to just give that same effect to the witch. In this specific case that spurred Endgame and Kintobor's reaction, the enemy drained health from a captive. What's the mirror version of that? The captive getting their health back from the enemy? The witch draining health from the enemy? Or the captive? Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I would say the health is drained from the enemy in addition to the enemy draining health from the captive. Special Mirror is designed to always at least provide some benefit to the witch. Quote
