Posted July 5, 201311 yr Hello Everybody! By now it seems to become a passion for me, to build these little houses on an 8x8 stud groundplate and I really can't get away from it! So during the last few weeks I was busy with creating another two mini modular mocs (no. 9 & no. 10) and here are the results: "la Villa bleue" "Green Apple" ... and both models combined with "Public Library" & "Blue Ave No. 7" in a row of houses: Find more pictures of both 'minis' as usual on my flickr photostream and feel free to leave your comments. Thanks to '2013-lego' for inspiring me with pictures of his beautiful Modular Apple Reseller MOC on EB! Special thanks to Harry alias 'steindrucker' for engraving the Apple logo on the black tile! So long, Jens
July 5, 201311 yr These are really nice. I haven't tried at this micro scale, as it's very hard to get the details right. I like the first floor of Apple store, it's a really simple and recognizable design, however the detailed roof looks a bit out of size (but I'm sure it's hard or impossible to make it smaller). The street layout looks fine, very colorful, and with many details on the facades. My favourite on the street layout is the library, it looks very grand with the bricks and pillars on the front. Well done.
July 5, 201311 yr Very nice buildings, Jens. The green strips between those big widows of the "Green Apple" look great.
July 5, 201311 yr Really nice work moctown. It's a difficult scale to master but you have, well done. Thanks for sharing.
July 5, 201311 yr Wow! You may have to offer these to LEGO as mini modular set number two...they are that good! Love you use of details on each of the buildings. And think of the places that small MOC's like this will fit....you may not have to enlarge you house to enjoy them. Cool! I just returned from the LEGO store, where I picked up mini modular set number one....been eyeing it for a long time thinking that I should give these little guys a chance. This looks like it would fit in very well in Berlin or Munich or a hundred other German cities...Congratulations!
July 5, 201311 yr Both of these are fantastic! I love the facade on the Apple building. :wub_drool: ! I agree with Legogal, these really should be TLG's second mini modular set.
July 5, 201311 yr Totally AWESOME mini's you have there 'moctown', the Green Apple just edges out the blue structure as best of the row in my opinion......Brick On !
July 6, 201311 yr These are wonderful! The small scale is perfect for people without a lot of shelf space for display, or without several thousand bricks to MOC with. Colorful and inspired designs abound here. You've done a fine job!
July 6, 201311 yr Your minis are great - as always! I think making such beautiful buildings at this scale is one of the most challenging LEGO "theme". Very creative!
July 6, 201311 yr I'm a sucker for those sand blue and green colors, so I might be a biased viewer. These look great. I'm partial to the villa; the bay window setup looked a little bulky at first but I love it now. I'm still trying to pick my favorite of yours. It's probably between the haunted house, townhouse, and central plaza. And the basilika is very nice as well. Do you have a favorite? I should be getting pieces for my mini ollivanders wand shop soon. I'll post when it's ready! Great job.
July 8, 201311 yr Looks pretty-cool. Though perhaps try adding and creating the pet shop and any other mini-modular not been set-based could be pretty cool too.
July 15, 201311 yr Author I'm a bit late with my answer again, but I have'nt forget your comments! So I'd like to thank you everybody for your kind words and I'm very happy you like these minis! I'm still trying to pick my favorite of yours. It's probably between the haunted house, townhouse, and central plaza. And the basilika is very nice as well. Do you have a favorite? This is difficult to say for me... in the end I like them all, cause each model got it's own origin story! Thx again & so long, Jens
July 17, 201311 yr Wow, just wow! These are so inspiring. I am imagining right now how they would look on regular scale and imediatly wish for LEGO to release these as official sets! Put them on Cuusoo!
July 19, 201311 yr Secretly, you are my Obi van Kenobi, you are my Yoda Master. I like your works so much. I like the size, the color palette, the building technics, those facade, those columns at the library amazing, but... But there is one and only thing what I always try to keep off, those "big" 2x2 window panel. Really hard but i dont like them, and there is my advice(?) or tip or opinion (sorry my english is bad). So, do you thinking about to change them to old 2x2 town windows. My tought, those old part must be rare and very expensive, but fit much more to your works. Whatever, you gave me many inspiration, and I'm very happy because you like my works too.
July 19, 201311 yr Grear job! Your minis look great! I like the how you have designed the 'la villa bleue' and the 'green apple'!
July 21, 201311 yr Wow! Love the green Apple building! Would love to make this into a genuine modular building. Did your inspiration for that building come from a minifigure scale building?
July 23, 201311 yr Author Thanks a lot for further positive feedback, everybody! Wow, just wow! These are so inspiring. I am imagining right now how they would look on regular scale and imediatly wish for LEGO to release these as official sets! Put them on Cuusoo! I was wondering if there would be a chance for those minis on cuusoo, yes. But the more I think about it, the more I think: No! Thanks for your kind words though! Secretly, you are my Obi van Kenobi, you are my Yoda Master. I like your works so much. Just kidding! Thanks a lot for compliments! Using old (style) windows instead of the new ones is a good idea. You're not the first guy suggesting this and I'm gonna keep your advice in my mind - maybe for my next project. Wow! Love the green Apple building! Would love to make this into a genuine modular building. Did your inspiration for that building come from a minifigure scale building? The only inspiration was 2013-lego's Modular Apple Reseller MOC with it's Apple Store on the ground floor. Feel free to execute a genuine modular building of it - I would appreciate that! Thx & so long, Jens
