Hey guys, tried to do a search and it seems no one has posted anything about brick fair...by all means if there is a thread please merge this. Anyway, not sure how many of you guys are on the east coast in the US, but I believe on AUG 3 and 4 there is a brickfair event in Chantilly, VA. I have never been before, but have heard many great things about it and that there will be some great MOC displays to check out. Anyway, figured I would share this for any that might have any interest. Also, for those that have been to past events, how were they? Are there any things to watch out for and to bring? Thanks!

This is their site with some basic info...

I've been to BrickFair three times in a row, they've been great, and I'm exhibiting again this year!

I recommend being an Exhibitor and bringing MOCs if you can (more fun that way), but you'd have to build swiftly because BrickFair is less than a month away!

You can get some good deals from the Yard Sale and Vendors, but be sure to hit the Vendors during non-public hours.

I also recommend signing up for a game or two. If you'd like to do that, do it soon because game sign-ups close July 18.

I'll be there, this is the 7th time for me. I'm bringing some Technic models for a change, as opposed to the Space stuff I did for the last several years. Just finished my latest MOC yesterday. Hopefully we will get a decent Technic turnout. Past events have been hit-or-miss in this respect.

I was able to attend and show at Brickfair at Birmingham of this year. It was my first Lego Convention and had an absolute blast. I wanted to attend the VA one, but can not make it due to work. Planning on attending and showing next year though.

I'm expected to me at BFVA this year. I wasn't there last year, but I'm back on track with the swing of things. I was able to make it to BF New England earlier this year and it was great.

Look forward to seeing you!

I'll be at Brickfair VA this year as I have been the past few years. I will definitely be exhibiting some of the Hero Factory models I've built this year such as Kit Martello and Koboldon, and possibly some of my older models like Rise of the Dread Colossus. I look forward to possibly picking up some parts at the vendor area. I will also be exhibiting some art at the BIONICLE tables. You might recognize me by my badge, which I don't plan on changing too much this year.

I still need to sort out accommodations, but I should be going to my first BFVA

Good for you but work got the best of my schedule so I won't make it again! :cry2:

Hmm, 6 hour drive from SC. Maybe I can go or fetch a plane if it's not too expensive.

It's cheaper to drive, especially air fares these days. I've ditched the plane to VA since 2008.

I'll be manning the registration desk on Thursday and Friday, so anyone who is attending as a full attendee will most likely see me. I'll be exhibiting the same BIONICLE MOCs I've had since BrickfairVA started in 2008, plus all the ones I've built since then, as well as a giant new dragon MOC I'm finishing up as I type!

BrickfairVA is the best North American LEGO convention as far as display, organization, and fan interest by far. If you only ever get to go to one, make it BFVA.

I still need to sort out accommodations, but I should be going to my first BFVA

Well that adds someone else I should probably meet :classic:

This is probably an off the wall question, but does anyone know if vendors will be selling any "aliens" custom kits there? I would love to possibly find an apc...

Probably. Probably not.

Looks like I might be making the drive, coincides with another holiday. A couple questions:

- Is it going to be the same content both days? I.E. should I buy tickets for both days or just one? Since it says to allow 90 minutes for the expo it seem kind of short.

- It says it is 11 AM to 4 PM. Are there any after-activies or non-general hours / areas / events? Again, see ^

- Will the vendors be inside or out? Do they accept credit cards or just cash?

And a random question, anything good for tourism / vacation / fancy spots in the area?

Disregard my request, I mapped a to-do stuff for the weekend. I'll see you guys at the fair. I'll probably go only the first day in the morning. Will be wearing a brown guinea pig t-shirt.

Just returned from BrickFairVA last night.

Have posted many of my favorite MOC photos at:
