Dr Ops Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Hi, this is my first MOC here on Eurobricks but not first at all ;) I always want to build a ship, because when i was little boy i loved big pirates ships at LEGO catalogs. I don't have any set with ship, so i had to build it without big pieces (hull). I thought very usefull piece for hull could be cockpit from set 9470 (Shelob attack) - this one: and this is my small fishing boat: I hope you like it ;) Quote
jimmynick Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Groovy! That's a great way to make a boat without any boat parts. It's small but all the details make it look really substantial. Great job! Quote
eurotrash Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Compact, but well put together. I like the color combination you've used and the scattered transparent pieces make for a very effective sea. Thanks for sharing it with us! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Nice use of the pieces for the hull and I like how you curved the railing to match The net with fish looks great as well Quote
Silver.Smith Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 This is great, plenty of little details that make this a quality build. Quote
BEAVeR Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Very impressive for such a small MOC. The shape is just right and I love the back of the ship. Only remark: the mast doesn't look that rigid, I hope they won't encounter a hezvy storm. Keep it up! Quote
Dr Ops Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 Compact, but well put together. I like the color combination you've used and the scattered transparent pieces make for a very effective sea. Thats almost all of my transparent pieces in this color :) I'm glad that looks good. Only remark: the mast doesn't look that rigid, I hope they won't encounter a hezvy storm. I had big problem with this mast. There is no too much space and i didn't wanted it to look very massive, but i agree with you - it looks a bit weak. thanks to all of you guys for good words and i'm happy, that you like my boat =) Quote
Brickadiergerard Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Lovely, lovely, lovely. You can almost smell the sea and hear the lapping of the waves. Well done! Quote
Only Sinner Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 This is a great boat, fits into any display, from medieval through relatively modern. Quote
Trance89 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Your fishing boat looks great. I also like how you used the transparent bricks and the tail piece as an finn for the pictures. Quote
Legogal Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 A beautiful build! Especially like the matching railing, the nets, and the water of transparent bricks. It all flows very well. Congratulations and here's to many more fine builds like this! Quote
LegoDrake Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 That is a great little boat!! I like how you made the rudder out of the Doc Och arm peice. Quote
ManInATopHat Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Nice boat! I do believe this might be more belonging in the Pirates forum, but oh well. Very nice detail, and I like the sail. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Brilliant design. It is always interesting to see brick built versions of things. Smart use of pieces in this one. Quote
Dr Ops Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 Wow! Very nice boat! Love the railing! Thanks you. That was the first idea of using hose to railing. I think it fits to this boat ;) That is a great little boat!! I like how you made the rudder out of the Doc Och arm peice. Thanks ! What's more the rudder is fully movable. Nice boat! I do believe this might be more belonging in the Pirates forum, but oh well. Very nice detail, and I like the sail. Yea, maybe you're right, but when i was building the boat i was thinking about boat for royal fisherman, so i started topic here =) Thank all of you for praise comments ! That's nice and very motivating to build more ;) Quote
Ragnar_Deerslayer Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 If you don't have any ship sets, am I correct in calling the sail a sheet of notebook paper? At any rate, you've caught the energy and trepidation of a small crew in a light craft on the high seas. I even think the wimpy mast (the bricks that make it up aren't firmly connected; you can see light through the cracks and it bends slightly towards the top) helps highlight the weakness of their position. Good job! Ragnar Quote

Good job! Ragnar Yes, sail was made from sheet of paper. Unfortunately i have seen this imperfect connection of mast after taking pictures :< Quote
