Uhm, while I agree that is nice I don't think it's the best thing, the best thing about Billund is rather all the cool stuff we get to do because we're in the heart of LEGO. (and the best thing about Eurobricks Events in general is clearly the people, everything else comes second).

Ok. Yeah. But hours on a train compared to a short taxi ride? The best "traveling" bit about this one. :-P

I am so in! I have already organised leave and booking flights shortly. Can't wait to catch up with my good friends again and meet some new ones too!

That is so good to hear! How long will you be staying in Europe?

Yaaaaaay! It will be awesome to see you again! :excited:

Ru and I will be there, no matter what. We just need to convince the rest of the world (or maybe just work) of that.

Looking forward to see you both again, any baseball on in Billund?

Oh yeah been waiting for this, thank you for being so fast and sign me up!

Ride hard mate!

I think I will get to Stockholm on the 3rd, so hanging in Sweden for a few days first. Any ideas on other spots I should visit?

Well, if you want to drop by Oslo you'd be more than welcome. :classic:

I've already started checking out the prices of airplane fares in hopes I could manage to book something at reasonable prices. Surprise surprise - ain't no such thing as cheap flights to Billund from this corner of the world. Will look into all possible options, I really want to finally meet you guys in person. I was even considering a road trip, but 2000+ km for a few days' stay is just too much, even by my standards.

Any tips on flights to nearby places and convenient transportation to Billund would be very much appreciated!

Metro ID , I am having the same problem finding flights to Billund. Hope to stop in London on the way (hubby has never visited the UK except its airports) and then fly on to Billund, but it looks as if we will also have to stop in Frankfurt, Copenhagen or some other distant place to get a flight to Billund. Aaaargh!

TO YOU BRITS: Any info on taking a train across the Chunnel or other creative options to reach Billund? I also have experience with hot air balloons (not sure which way the predominant winds blow from London), gliders, small Cessnas, Honda motorcycles, bikes for two, and hypermiling Priuses. But it looks like an awful long way by land up to Billund. All I remember seeing on a very, long train ride through Denmark were green fields and more cows than people; it was entertaining the first time because I grew up in the desert. Maybe they should just move Denmark farther south for the rest of us? (Just kidding of course!)

Haha, don't think I will be on my bike this time, but I'll leave all options open for now. Will be cool to meet you finally and also to see some other new faces!

And for places to visit: Amsterdam, it's only 700m away! :sweet:

I would love to come to the 10th event in Billund.

After looking at flights I found out I could fly to Edinburgh from Stornoway then over to Billund airport....

Legogal I am sure you could fly to Edinburgh from the states?

Edinburgh Is much nicer than London. :classic:

In theory it should be easy to reach Billund by plane, but only from certain places in Europe and it seems like the tickets are very expensive from London to Billund in the beginning of May (just an example), I guess it would be cheaper to fly to Copenhagen and take the train but... you have to change to bus in Vejle or Kolding.

Maybe fly to Hamburg and then by train to Kolding and change to a bus.

But then again 3 hours in a train/on a bus...

I think is will be about £130 return to Billund from Edinburgh.

If you book in advance you can save a fair bit.

That's not bad, I saw tickets from the Airports around London in the pricerange £200-£300 - the same destination cost aprox. £45 in september this year.

London is at the bottom of England whether Edinburgh Is roughly the middle of Scotland which is directly across from Billund airport.

I know that.

But it is most of the time more expensive to get to Billund from other airports, than to Copenhagen.

Wow - already late to the party?

I'm in of course, come what will.

For those coming for the first time and thinking of flying: There is a direct connection from Frankfurt/Main to Billund. Maybe this is an option.

Because train is one of the worse options as there is no station in Billund.

The last time we went, we took a direct flight from London City Airport to Billund, and it was great (we could probably make the trip from our house straight to Legoland Billund in about 3 hours if we timed it perfectly).

London City Airport is still quite small, but very efficient (and my favourite airport in the London area). It's easy to get to from central London as it's in the Docklands area of East London itself, rather than a bit out of the way like Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton or Stansted. I'd recommend looking at flights from there (although they might be a bit pricey), or indeed flying from Edinburgh which is indeed a glorious city too, as Alistair Ryan has suggested.

Wow...ALL: Thanks for the travel tips! Will try your recommendations. London City Airport, then Edinburgh (yup, I love the place AND my family is Scottish, Alasdair), and then back up those choices with Frankfurt, Copenhagen and whatever else pops up on the screen.

Sometimes it is harder than the devil to get a short flight to an out of the way place; I take it as a personal challenge! The good news is that we have ten months to pull this off.
