Rumble Strike Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Growing up in the Titaan mountains meant that Tarn was sure footed, even on treacherous ground such as this. "How much farther, Gau?" he inquired of his guide. Quote
Sandy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 "How much farther, Gau?" he inquired of his guide. The group had come to a ledge next to the waterfalls. There seemed to be a path leading into the surge of water. "We're here! You just walk right through the veil of water, and you're inside the cave. Just remember, it's slippery as heck! Go on, but be back as soon as you can. I won't wait around forever, remember that." The heroes nodded, then braced themselves. Drawing their weapons, they one by one slid into the waterfall. For a moment they could barely see in front of them, and the cascade was strong enough to sweep them down with it if they lost their footing, but out of a sudden they were through the water and inside a glistening cave. There was a peculiar grid in the middle of the floor, with a pool of water beneath it. Three tunnels lead from the cave further inside the mountain. QM Note: The battle will begin in just a moment. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Tesni moved to inspect the grid "I wonder if this will give us a hint as to where to go?" Quote
Sandy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Before anyone could do anything, they heard a terrible roar echoing from the tunnels, as if an army of bloodthirsty orcs were approaching. Then over two dozen Stars of Destiny burst into the cave, surrounding the heroes on three fronts. This was it! After months of planning and preparation, Shanxian's retribution was at hand! Peppermint_M Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 "Well, that was unexpected." Tesni gave a wry grin. "Tarn, how should we go about cutting these fools down a little?" Taking a look over the group she saw one rather familiar annoyance. "Ah! Second Brother! How good to see you! You remember me and Cysgodion I'm sure..." She curled her smile into that of a preadator that has just found some rather stupid prey. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Tarn's mind was almost unable to process the number of enemies the party faced. Until he saw the Jade Flagbearer, and molten fury scorched his veins. "We let you go! How dare you throw our compassion away!" OOC: Sorry guys, this is just a quick post before bed. If anyone wants to talk strategy in thread, I'm all ears! Quote
-obelix- Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 The look of shock on Thalion's face quickly changed to a smirk when he saw the number of enemies surrounding them. He readied his sais and an amethyst and commented, "Well, I guess we have only one way to proceed now...", eyeing up Divine Physician and Faceless. OOC: About the tactics, I think we should leave the weaker enemies (Sick tiger, brothers, knife demon, flagbearer) and the ones that can make this battle very short (God of Death) alone for now. Automatons should take on weaker targets and/or the ones they can potentially do max damage against (e.g. Rubio against Twin-tailed Scrpion and so on), for now. Each of us-heroes should target two different, higher leveled enemies (this one's a bit obvious but I thought I'd mention it anyways). Just my two cents... Quote
CMP Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I'm assuming this three-pronged mechanic doesn't affect the effects from the automatons, right? And these effects are all permanent, so Knife-Wielding Demon can't steal them, yes? Atramor glanced from one Star to the next. So these were the infamous bandits they'd crossed half the world to defeat. They were tough, he'd give them that. "Easy enough to figure out who goes where, they're grouped by their type, mostly. Tarn, Benji, you'll want to go to the left, and take Emeray, Rubio, and Topazor with you. Tesni, Nagure, definitely Garnetic, and Aquamarq should go the right. Earth element'll trash the Leopard and the Rainbow Tiger, and that Lion too. Thalion, Lee, Opalix, Sapphiraz, come with me straight on." "Benji should go for Hundred Victories and Touching the Sky, he can kill Hundred in one hit and will deal full damage to Sky. Tarn, you're best takin' the Divine Physician and the Lonely Star can't risk the Judge's and the Conqueror's specials. Rubio and Topazor can take on the Faceless, and Emeray can deal with the Second Brother. You'll take free hits from the Conqueror, the Judge, and Sacred Water. Benji should probably go first and then third, he'll take only 20 damage, and Tarn, ya' should go second to make sure ya' take the Judge's free hit, he'll only deal 20 too, and that's if you're in the front row." "Tesni, ya' can probably cut open Two Spears real easy with that Sawblade, especially if ya' hit him twice this round. Nagure, go for the Rainbow Leopard and Tiger with that hammer of yours, it'll smash 'em right into the ground. Garnetic and Aquamarq should take on Sick Tiger, and they should definitely go first, from the back row, so the Third Brother and Flagbearer won't deal a scratch on 'em. If Tesni goes third and Nagure fourth, you'll each only take a couple scratches from Tiger Slayer and Tigress." "That leaves us, Thalion, Lee. Thalion, ya' might wanna toss a spell at Pilgrim and Yakshini, you're the only one outta us that can deal ranged hits. I'm gonna go hit God of Death and Living King. Lee, go smack around that Demon King, and make sure to use that Diamond. Opaliz, Sapphiraz, get on the Twin-Tailed Scorpion. All of ya' in my group, don't be afraid to fight from the front row, I'll take all the hits anyway. Tarn, order don't matter much here, but it'll be easier if I'm at the top." "Any other thoughts, mates?" After pointing out targets, Atramor then spun the Pheles Rod once, taking a swing at God of Death from the front row, then Living King from the back row. Agreed, mostly, I'm only taking on God of Death because on the small chance it is rolled, I'll absorb the effect then special mirror it. We need to leave the particularly dangerous specials and the weakest enemies for later. Quote
Flare Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) Benji roars ferociously at the enemy horde, his body halfway between beast and human state. He looks at the witch and nods, and prepares to attack Hundred Victories and Tiger Slayer. He attacks both from the back row, unless he has switched to beast form when he will attack from front row. Edited July 26, 2013 by Flare Quote
Costy Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Nagure rushes to the right of the battle, and attacks Rainbow Leopard from the front row, twice, with his Hammer. Quote
CMP Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 "Now that I think about it, Sapphiraz would actually be better off with Nagure and Tesni," thought Atramor aloud. "Forgot about the Fiery-Eyed Lion. If Sapphiraz targets the Third Brother, then the order for the third party should be Sapphiraz, Aquamarq, Nagure, Tesni, Nagure, Tesni, Garnetic. Nagure, if ya' don't target the Rainbow Tiger, you're gonna have to take his and Tigress' free hit, which'd be 52 damage. If ya' think ya' can handle it, aye, hitting Rainbow Leopard twice is a good idea." Quote
-obelix- Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) Thalion nods at Atramor switches to Sleeper and attacks God of Death and Divine Physician, both from back row. Edited July 26, 2013 by -obelix- Quote
Peppermint_M Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Tesni smirked and lifted Fàelàn "Hey Two Spears, asked your friends about me yet? I'd consider running now." The blade began to flame and she swung at the enemy. Quote

You have been flanked on three sides, so your multi-hit skills can only hit one side at a time. The enemy multi-hits will hit all of you, and the Free Hits will be delivered in the order of action, as usual. The Knife-Wielding Demon can indeed steal your effects to himself, but since they are permanent as long as the automatons stand, you won't lose them yourselves. Quote

CMP Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) OoC: Unless I misunderstood what you just said, thats totally not fair If it was a regular battle, this'd be way too easy, we have all positive effects. "This changes things," remarked Atramor, glancing at the enemy's positioning. "Alright...I think it'd be best if we focused our strength on whoever's most susceptible to it, and if we try and take out enemies in one party at a time, it'll do us a lot of good. Thalion, use the Sleeper to put the Divine Physician and the God of Death to sleep, if ya' can, it'll help a lot with the free hits. Tesni can take down Double Spears easily - more easily than I thought, she does sixteen times as much damage to him - then, when he's down, Tesni, ya' should take a swing at the Faceless, put Faelan to the best use it can. Nagure and Garnetic can focus on the Rainbow Tiger and Leopard respectively, they'll do octuple damage. Tarn can put down the Sick Tiger. Benji, ya' should still aim for Hundred Victories, he's too high a level to leave for a free hit. Make sure he's down, then move on to the Tiger Slayer. Lee, I think ya' should take down the Second, then the Third Brother with a darkness.....fist, I guess. Now, let's see....I think Rubio should attack the Knife-Wielding Demon, Opalix on the Living King, Topazor on the Pilgrim, Emeray on Lonely Star, Sapphiraz on Yakshini, Garnetic on the Rainbow Leopard, and Aquamarq on the Fiery-Eyed Lion. And it's important that the automatons stay in the back row," rattled off the witch. Again. "Tarn, I'd like to go first and last. I'll equip the Pheles Rod with my second turn, so I'll survive long enough to be takin' all the free hits. Thalion should probably go second and third to last, to make sure neither of his targets are woken up. I think this leaves the Chaos King, Strategist, Conqueror, possibly the Faceless and Tiger Slayer, Judge, Sacred Water, The Tigress, and the Flagbearer for free hits. I can take that. Probably." Atramor shook his head free of the mess of calculations running around in it, sword in one hand, staff in the other. He took a stab with Conspirator at the Touching the Sky from the back row, then turned, bringing the Pheles Rod across the Twin-Tailed Scorpion, also from the back row. Rumble Strike Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Tarn was grateful when he heard Atramor barking orders. Although the aftermath of the Bomb XX in Dastan had been tragic, the tactical reasoning behind it had been sound, and he was happy to follow Atramor's suggestions. "Will you be OK using the Pheles Rod? With possibly nine or so enemies dealing free hits - it's a lot of damage to absorb." Tarn wielded Lion's Heart, with it's Stun ability and double damage against Humanoids, and attacked Sick Tiger from the front row. If he still stands, Tarn will repeat his attack, if the Sick Tiger is defeated, he will attack the Jade Flagbearer from the front row. Lee Long will use Darkness against Second short-lived brother from the front row. If he still stands, Lee will repeat his attack, if the Second brother is defeated, he will attack the Daredevil Third Brother from the front row. Rubio will attack Knife-Wielding Demon, back row Opalix will attack Living King, back row Topazor will attack Pilgrim, back row Emeray will attack Lonely Star, back row Sapphiraz will attack Yakshini, back row Garnetic will attack Rainbow Leopard, back row Aquamarq will attack Fiery-Eyed Lion, back row Battle Order (subject to change, suggestions from Pie in grey, I think we should all follow his lead) >Atramor (Conspirator) vs. Tigress Nagure (Stone Hammer) vs. Rainbow Tiger Nagure (Stone Hammer) vs. Rainbow Tiger Tesni (Faelan) vs. Double Spears Tesni (Faelan) vs. Double Spears OR if defeated, Faceless Tarn (Lion's Heart) vs. Sick Tiger Tarn (Lion's Heart) vs. Sick Tiger OR if defeated, Jade Flagbearer - Pie, happy to change if you want to minimise Free Hits from bigger fish Benji vs. Hundred Victories (front row if beast, back row if not) Benji vs. Hundred Victories OR if defeated, Tiger Slayer (front row if beast, back row if not) Lee (Darkness) vs. Short Lived Second Brother Lee (Darkness) vs. Short Lived Second Brother OR if defeated Daredevil Third Brother >Rubio vs. Knife Wielding Demon >Opalix vs. Living King >Topazor vs. Pilgrim >Emeray vs. Lonely Star >Sapphiraz vs. Yakshini >Garnetic vs. Rainbow Leopard >Aquamarq vs. Fiery Eyed Lion >Thalion (Sleeper) vs. God of Death >Thalion (Sleeper) vs. Divine Physician >Atramor (Pheles Rod) vs. Twin Tailed Scorpion OOC: Phew. I think that's everything/everyone. I know people like to choose targets but in a huge fight like this we must be all on the same page and I do think we should be following one overall strategy, especially if Atramor is willingly taking all the free hits. Pie, thank you so much for doing this, strategy is not one of my stronger points, at least, not in a battle this size with so many combatants. Let's hope we can whittle them down quickly. Quote
CMP Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) "Of course I can," lied Atramor, his eyes on the unoccupied enemies. Even in the event I do go down, we have plenty of Phoeniex Essences, and hopefully there will be less enemies to deal free hits next round. Tesni, Lee, Atramor, and Tarn can all kill their targets if they all land hits, a good chance since we're all lucky. We should be in good shape. "Actually...I'll take that tall bastard. He's got nobody to heal if I go first, and I think I can blind him." The witch twisted his blade mid-swing, pulling it away from the Tigress all the way to the center party, at Touching the Sky from the back row. Edited July 27, 2013 by CallMePie Quote

CMP Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) I changed my attack to Touching the Sky about an hour ago, but in hindsight you were probably already rolling by that time, so don't bother fixing it. And I just noticed, I shouldn't have my Diamond and Amethyst anymore, they're in the Pheles Rod. Oh, and Touching the Sky ignores the fact that I'm in the back row. That could've gone a lot worse. Whirling Flames was the one special I was most paranoid about, guess it was for good reason. We need Remedies now, but other than that, good round. Same strategy, kind of. Benji should Remedy Thalion, Thalion should Remedy Tesni and Tarn, Tesni can Remedy Nagure, and Lee can revive Atramor. That out of the way, Atramor can attack Touching the Sky, Tesni should attack Faceless, Benji can attack Lonely Star, Nagure should attack Rainbow Tiger and the Fiery-Eyed Lion, Tarn can attack Divine Physician and the Judge, and Lee can attack the Tiger Slayer. For the automatons, Garnetic, Aquamarq should hit the Rainbow Tiger, both from the front row, but if he's down, they should move onto the Jade Flagbearer from the back row. Opalix and Sapphiraz should attack Twin-Tailed Scorpion from the back row. THEN, Atramor will attack the God of Death with the Pheles Rod from the back row, so that when Emeray attacks Sacred Water from the front row his special won't screw us since Atramor will absorb it, and he's immune to water and afraid won't do anything. Topazor and Rubio should gang up in the Pilgrim in the front row since he's Hexed. It's pretty important all of this happens in order since we're chaining these Remedies. Free hits will be Chaos King, Knife Demon, Life King, Yaki, Strategist, Conqueror, and Tigress, which Atramor can almost certainly survive. Thoughts? Edited July 27, 2013 by CallMePie Quote
Flare Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) Benji roars furiously at the enemy horde and they back away briefly from Atramor, whom they had just tackled to death. Despite his blood pounding in his ears, he notices the confused looks in the eyes of his friends. He nimbly uses a Remedy on Thalion, and afterwards fiercely attacks Lonely Star from the front row. Costy Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) Nagure attacks the Fiery-eyed lion from the front row, twice (Hammer). If the Fiery-eyed lion is dead, he attacks the Rainbow Tiger from the front row. (Hammer) Edited July 27, 2013 by Costy Quote
Sandy Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 OOC: We specified Tesni going for the Faceless on her second attack if Double Spears was down. That would mean Faceless didn't get a Free Hit QM Note: You did, but Peppermint didn't. The party leader can only decide the order of action, each player is responsible for their own attacks. And unless the player specifically says otherwise, I always move on to the next listed enemy if the designated target is already killed. Sorry! Quote
