The party decided to bypass the confrontation with the black guard. Dice breathed a sigh of relief.

25yyhs4.jpg "I think you might have saved us the money we're paying you already." Stated Dice, happily.

303a3x5.jpg "Not likely." grumbled Jasper. "Heroes? Don't you think intimidating the blackguard might have some repercussions for the return trip? I don't want my reputation being damaged." the man stated.

Alexandre continues walking. "Well, is there a different route perhaps? And about your reputation, do not worry. There'll be no witnesses."

"Fine." Grumbled the irritated man.

The Party walked in silence for nearly the remainder of the day, before they came across a strange sight: a cow, dead in the grass. It was rotting and looked a day or two old. Buzzards had picked it clean for the most part. Aside from the dead cow, all the party could see for miles was grassland, broken only by the occasional wildflowers. Near the cow there were several orange ones. As the Shepherd approached, her sheep slowly grazing their way forward, she gasped at the sight of the dead cow. Suddenly, one of her sheep bleated once. She looked at it, confused, and ordered her dog to round the sheep up.

"I think we should all form a defensive ring. We may have finally spotted some wolves." Alexandre uses intimidation to try and scare whatever may be in the grass. "William, can you make out anything?"

OoC: No one else has anything to say? I had hoped that that would get a few more posts than it received... :look: Maybe you're all just as busy/busier than I?

The shepherd investigated the body as Alex gave orders. "I don't see any bite marks..." She commented.

OOC: DLL, you're pretty busy I guess?

Yes, but I was/am waiting for everyone to post, since what follows is a "minigame" that requires a little participation to make it feasable. If everyuone only types once a week, then the minigame will last multiple weeks. I have been busy, but I like to have everyone comment before I move on. Where's Shoker? Is he on vacation? Also, I was hoping someone would investigate the corpse a bit more...

Alexandre inspects the corpse. (Sorry, thought Alexandre's question would prompt a search. Also, I don't know where Shoker is.) :look: "Guys, watch my back."

OOC: I'm able to post everyday as well.

(OoC: I know. You've been extremely active. I'm sorry this game has been so slow. Once this is finished, I'll probably take a break from hosting until I can devote my full time to it.)

Alex checked the Cow's corpse, but was surprised to find no claw marks. While the corpse was quite decayed, he could make out traces of bloody foam on the mouth. It looked as if the cow died of poison. Relaying this information to the shepherd, her eyes opened wide.

"I know what this is!" She exclaimed, a trace of fear on her face. "This is the work of Sheepsbane, an invasive weed from Xu. It's deadly toxic to livestock, but serves as a crucial ingredient in remedies. From what I've heard, it's got an orange flower, and a widespread root structure. That means this road could potentially be a minefield of Sheepsbane!" she stated, looking perplexed. "But fortunately, Sheep are known to bleat once when they smell the stuff... unfortunately it doesn't stop them from eating it. We have to get across this field to the forest. Does anyone have any ideas?"

"Hmm... this is potentially dangerous. Well, I suppose we could keep moving slowly." (I'm assuming that's what we do. Some directions on how the map works would help.) :classic:

(Sorry. I forgot to number the boxes. It's like Minesweeper if you've ever played it. You use the sheep as your mine sweeps, and if you land on a flower, you lose a sheep. The number of bleats heard in a square indicates the number of flowers that the box is in direct contact with. You've heard one bleat thusfar.)

(I'm not sure I was clear, but the number takes into account diagonals. Also, you have access to all the squares in row H, in addition to the squares you're directly adjacent to. You may move diagonally as well. Also, as an OoC remark to help you, there are exactly 15 flowers.)

The Shepherd and the party moved to the next "square" with one sheep in tow. The sheep bent down to eat some grass and bleated three times. It then returned to eating.

15x05uf.jpg "We've got to be careful. It sounds like we're surrounded." stated the shepherd.

The Shepherd and the party, worried that their progress was about to be undone, moved back to the first "square" and attempted to move horizontally. The sheep munched on the foliage, and began to sway, as if drunk. The sheep made some strange noises as its mouth began to foam, and in under a minute, the sheep was dead. The Party had found a patch of poisoned land. The Party now had 14 sheep.

15x05uf.jpg "My poor baby." Sobbed the shepherd, cradling the dead sheep. The two businessmen, Dice and Jasper, shared a worried look. Yoro looked at the shepherd with begrudging sympathy.
