I disliked the cutesy pet shop and replaced it with a bar  . A convenience store would work well too. Two of the coolest bits are the spiral stair construction and the bathroom tucked underneath.

Did you just change the exterior signage from 'Pets' to 'Bar', or did you accompany this with interior modifications also? Pictures would be welcome if you have them. A convenience store mod wouldn't be a bad idea. Thanks for that suggestion.

^^ I added a stocked bar and moved the rear door off-center but haven't finished the interior... need some tables, a dart board... the Simpsons house showed up and my daughter and I have been focusing on that instead!

Changing the PS sign lettering to "Bar" was easy, but after seeing what some other folks have done with letterforms on 3D exterior signage, I want to completely re-do it.

Sounds interesting. I imagine you used some extra pitcher/mug pieces for that, like the ones I've seen in the Lemonade Stand (Friends). Has LEGO done a printed dart board part yet, maybe with an older CMF?

There were some dartboard stickers in one of the recent sets for LEGO movie, but my choice was the printed tile from the Dejarik hologame board from the Millennium Falcon, which looks close enough. I picked up some "liquor bottles" and martini glasses from BrickForge along with a bunch of brown/green bottles and glasses from LEGO.

Ah, yes! That's where I remembered it: Creative Ambush. I thought so.

There were some round 2x2 tiles back in the late 80s in the castle subtheme Forestmen which were coloured as targets. I think they would be excellent as dartboards.

You can see one in the Forestmen's Hideout: brickset.com/sets/6054-1/Forestmen-s-Hideout

I'm planning to buy my first modular next month but really can't decide on which one. My parts collection is growing slowly but surely so maybe not now but eventually modulars "may" join them when they are needed, ready to be rebuilt when I'm done with them. Anyway, my options are Fire Brigade, Pet Shop and Parisian Restaurant. Fire Brigade is more like a kit of useful parts for me and kind of cheaper but I love the way Pet Shop and Parisian Restaurant looks. Which one do you think would be the best for me? And many people are complaining about the sizes of Pet Shop and Parisian Restaurant, are they really small or not a big deal? And my last question, how does Parisian Restaurant has so many parts? too much detailing?

I hope you can help me out guys, I liked listening to fellow lego fans' opinions before I make my purchase.

Burak

Dharkan, if you can get Fire Brigade at retail, I recommend that one. It is gone most places now and the after market costs are starting to climb. It is the only modular I have so far. I need to get another one but at this rate, I have to target those about to be discontinued. There appears to be debate on whether Pet Shop, Town Hall, or Grand Emporium will be next.

That is a good point but I don't think I can keep it boxed to sell it later on. :D And I don't think it'll never worth much like Green Grocer did.

True. I only meant that you may want to acquire all that are available at retail price. If you think you will ever want FB, then this is likely your change.

I like the build and my custom bicycle shop / apartments are coming along nicely as well.

Speculation on 2014 set number 10244, Carnival Set, which will fit in with modular buildings......sounds like it will be a nice town addition. Includes a juggler

I am planning to get one more modular. Right now, I've narrowed it down to either PS or PC. I'm leaning PS for some of the reasons rob-cubed highlighted, but anyone have any other suggestions to add?

Pet shop, hands down. IMO it's one of the most beautiful sets I have ever owned. Essentially two buildings in one

I question how a carnival set fits in the modular world......but could it be something else....say a Circus which would pass as a carnival and circus's can be in the middle of a city ?

Most of the rumors seem to point at it fitting with the Creator Expert carousel as opposed to the modulars... Some iffy translation from a German website isn't helping with the confusion.

Does anyone not notice that this whole thread about a modular carousel must be fake....

Lego has already done a grand carousel and the set number that people keep throwing around is actually from the town hall!!!!

Come on people work it out.....

Why should it be fake? usually these rumors tend to be true. And the set number 10244 is new, town hall is 10224!

The set number could very well be real, but that in no way signifies that that set would fit in with the modular buildings, just because its number is in the 10.000-range does in no way signify that. That range is used for many big, exclusive sets. The Grand Carousel was #10196 (Fire Brigade was 10197). The Maersk Ship is 10241, while Parisian Restaurant is 10243. And so on. They just give these out in the order the exclusive sets are released.

That is a very valid point, those set numbers are for the creator expert range so it might just be a carnival with side shows, etc., and we still yet to then find out what the next actual modular will be ?
