I really hope the museum makes it. I would buy it,maybe thats why they have finished up a lot of the available modulars to make room for freshening up the range and bringing new buildings to market sooner.

Me too..looking forward for the Museum to win

I think lego is really deciding it and If they will not released it in ideas range, they probably release something similar in creator expert range few years ahead .

I hope it comes under creator theme as modular :-)

I have said this before and I will say it again, I hope maybe not this next new modular building but maybe the one after, that LEGO makes one with 2 32x16 like the Pet Shop. I love the versatility of the set where you can either place them together or apart. Over a year ago I even suggested the idea of doing the yearly 32x32 set being released January and a smaller 16x32 set out in June/July at the $90-110 price point. Now on the topic of what I would like to see come out as its theme, I don't really care as long as it adds diversity and options to the growing city we can create with these modular buildings.

I 100% agree with this thread. I love the idea of another 32x16 set. I also love the idea of 2 modulars a year. Granted the space to store them will run out quickly.

Funny enough, with this whole Museum discussion, my son today said, "wouldn't it be cool if they made a museum"?

What I want is a school. Think that would be cool. My sons school is from the early 1900s, and the architecture and design on his school would match well with Town Hall and the rest of the sets. Plus that will get my son off my back about MOCing his school. LOL. I don't think we are ready for MOC just yet.

Is there anyway they can do a larger modular about $200 and make it bigger say like a inner city public school with a little auditorium.

The Town Hall is $200 so anything at that price should be of similar size. Perhaps you can mod the Town Hall to a public school since it already has a utilitarian look. It also has something like an auditorium on the first floor. What could work is to carve out the center of each floor for a staircase and hallways and use the sides for classrooms. Add some tall fencing to the roof and you can have an outdoor gym / love-confession-zone.

The Town Hall has that any-government-building look and can be used for schools, libraries, hospitals, and police stations.

Funny you should sat that. That is exactly what I was thinking. Even my son said, "Don't you think my school looks like the Town Hall Building".

Having said that, I would still prefer lego release a school. It's cheaper then hunting down another Town Hall.

Just because they have 4 or 5 ready, those might only be prototypes......best to wait and see.

IF anything they will indeed be prototypes/initial concepts. Lego doesn't make sets that far in advance, 18 months at most. Anything beyond that is just a commitment that they will do X or Y line/theme ie City or Creator.

Too bad the new Ferris Wheel doesn't have the right dimensions to fit within a modular street.

What makes you say that? Using minifigs as a reference size, I would say that the new Ferris wheel and the modulars fit together quite nicely. However, for the final judgement I would need the ferris wheel next to one of the modulars. I guess someone will make this comparison once the ferris wheel is out.

I saw the press release, it states:

"Ferris Wheel measures over 23” (60cm) high, 21” (55cm) wide and 14” (38cm) deep"

I think the modulars are 25,5 cm deep and 25,5 cm wide.

It can fit nice, but I'm using the LACK Ikea shelf-unit on my wall, which has the perfect dimension for the modulars. The ferris wheel won't fit on it...

Ahh ok that makes sense. :)

Currently loving the Modulars line. My favorite is probably the Palace Cinema. Very well done and clean. Satisfying as well. Can't wait to see the next building rolling out. :excited: :excited: :excited:

I don't know about a museum but they will definitely make their way to a modular. They look like a 1x2x4 fence piece like the new elves fences, only different design.

I guess I don't understand all the hub-bub about that museum from ideas. There wasn't anything special about it.

.I don't mind if they use the Ideas museum, or come up with a design of their own. But I think the arch window piece definitely lends itself to a Victorian era public building. Museums were hugely popular at that time and there is a lot of scope for creative internal details. I like the Ideas museum, but I dont think its a perfect representation. Particularly the two towers on each side. A ridged dome set back from the facade would be more authentic. Edit: Not that I would be complaining at all if it made it through :) Edited by dr_sarcophagus

I just thought the overall design of the building and interior were well done. I thought it was the closest thing i have seen on ideas to an actual official modular in terms of size ,playability and appeal to a wider audience.

The top floor windows of the new friends hotel (41101) look like they have a new arch window element.

It is a new element, and it actually goes inside the 1x2x6 arch. It comes in tan in the hotel set, an unusually useable colour for a new element :)
