For those interested, the FB was missing two minifigures, the tree and lamppost from the sidewalk and the top stud piece on the bell tower. It was $150, and the replacement parts are on the way from Bricklink, too.

I'm expecting a great build, akin to Pet Shop but not quite Parisian. Are my expectations appropriate?

Fire Brigade is an awesome build, minus the back walls. It was my first so there was tons of entirely new techniques for me, but it's generally very neat.

Wow, that is a good price!

Wow, that is a good price!

I thought so. Pictures showed a decent amount of dust and seller was selling off items from a teenager. I'm assuming the seller didn't really understand the value of what they had.

Wow I'm jealous! I found Lego again after that one had already retired.

I think a bank, flower shop, or police station would all be awesome for the next one. (we might need some more law people in my town considering Loki is running the Town Hall)

My guess is you are not aware of the rumored "amusement hall"

I did notice people talking about that earlier in this thread. But it's still just a rumor for now (and I only said that I thought that one of those other options would be cool for the next one) and I'm not sure what an amusement hall would entail, so I left it alone.

An amusement arcade wouldn't be surprising, given the company is in the habit of 'acquiring' Ideas projects. A lot of fans loved those coin-ops...

Halfway through first floor of Fire Brigade. Loving this build so far! The truck was a pleasant surprise. Love the ladder and the front facade. The front of the modular looks so clean but there's a lot of work going into it. Really good build thus far, and I hear it gets better.

Shouldn't the next MB be officially announced already?

I just looked back through this thread for when things came out with the Detective Agency. Rumors started in June, confirmation with price on August 30, pictures on November 16. If this year's Modular follows that pattern then we still have a little while to wait.

Posted

So the only rumors we have right now is the "Amusement Hall" which is like an Arcade?

Correct! Most (if not, then all) modular rumors ends up being true. The only thing that changes would be the name.

Posted

Please forgive my ignorance, but is there a reason that the rumours about an Amusement Hall have more weight or credibility than the earlier rumours about a Flower Shop/Greenhouse?

It seem that those two rumours appeared within a week or two of each other.

If you go back in this thread a year and a half ago the "next" modular was a fair with lots of minifigs which eventually turned out to be the fairground mixer, are we sure the amusement hall will be a modular and not the next set in the family of the mixer and the ferris wheel ?

The rumour about the Flower shop is something I read a year ago, even before the Detective agency was announced. Sorry I don't have the source, someone said it on another forum, can't remember which one it was.

However, that did not turned out to be true at THAT time. Maybe a Flower Shop/ Green House will come in the future, I don't know...

Actually, after some googling I found out that 'rumour' about the florist was first posted in this actual topic!

"Herky - 18 Aug 2014"

I do have to say that living in St Louis has been interesting the last couple of weeks, nothing like a few riots and looting in your town to keep things lively...that said, no, have not heard of any Lego looting. Just gas stations and convenience stores, but there does seem to be some copycat looting going on in other places in the city. Lego Store is in a well patrolled mall in the burbs here. We only rate one store in this city of 3 million metro population.

Folks seem to sell Lego a lot in garage sales, one of my friends actually got a FB in a sale...$100 no box but directions included, building it now so we shall see if all the pieces are there.

Since I know the store manager, I can't get away with the questions, but I may have to feed you some, just ask if the next modular is a florist with greenhouse out back, a new type of modular that is 5500 pieces considering the greenhouse has tons of clear panels and plants.

I remember that rumor, came out a month or two before the announcement of the fairground. That rumor also came out when a brand new Parisian restaurant was released which didn't make much sense since rumors tend to be out in the middle of the year. Nothing is ever confirmed so everything and anything is speculation until we get a press release.

It is also possible LEGO has since tightened up security protocols and won't let as much slip out this year compared to last year.

It's interesting (funny to me) if the next modular will be a corner building. I have lately been in the modular building mood so I plan to disassemble all of my modulars are rebuild my own creations since every LEGO show has doubles of all of the modulars. Might as well add some variety. Well, the reason it is funny to me is because I have since started 3 separate modulars that I have ideas for, but two of them are corners...very odd that I prefer building corners I guess.

Corners offer more possibilities.

And the next buiilding is most definately gonna be a corner building. So far the patter always has been a corner, then two straight buildings, and a corner again.

LOL, sorry folks, that was just a reply to some other fantastical rumors that were floating about. I made up the florist thing...Lego is NOT going to put out a 5500 piece set. I had imagined it could be cool though to have a florist with a greenhouse out back. It could be done and could be really cool, but there is no kiddie story in that type of a building so I have to discount it now. Amusement hall, sure, kiddie story would work, could fit in with the modular theme or the fairground theme or bridge the two. I am holding out hope for a museum since they put the kibosh on the wonderful Ideas submission.
