I know we hate waiting, but we should pace ourselves as this is just the start of the journey. First we have to wait for the announcement, but even after the announcement, we will still have to wait a few months before we can actually purchase it. But then I would probably wait until a 2x points day to purchase it, which means almost another whole year wait.

The only exception was the Detective's Office, which had a promo flower cart set that was designed to go with the building, so I snatched that right away. And those are times when it is finally worth using your VIP points.

I really can't wait until the day i come home from work and see a large brown box standing in the livingroom, waiting to be opened.... then cutting the tape carefully and digging through the packingmaterial... Taking out the air-pockets and then seeing that large wanted box for the first time...Expert, it says!!! Then cutting the seals with a quickly grabbed kitchenknife and folding the flaps.... tilting the box and seeing large bags with lots of shiny new parts....turning the bags round and round, searching for printed tiles and that special new part!!! Then taking the buildingbook (pressing back a few folds) and the 32x32 buildingplate.... And then...finally...putting everything back in the box, as we need to have dinner first.....

Rumours and wishes for a modular police station have been for years, but it never happened. But now a police station would be needed. We have a bank with robbers, a detective and a police women. A police station would be perfect! We have a fire brigade, but no police station. It makes no sense. I would like to see one this year.

Or to be honest anything by now would excite me! We have been waiting for a official confirmation of what the new modular will be. Past years we knew everything by now, but today we know practically nothing. Not even the name. I hope an announcement will come soon. I'm dying out of curiosity.

The same with me!

That desire actually led me to make my own modular police station! https://www.flickr.com/photos/75784937@N07/33950676651

LegoSjaak,

You're a funny guy, but that's exactly how it goes in my home too when I ordered the newest Modular. The waiting is indeed nervewrecking. I hope for a New York style Police Station! A nice School Building would be fine too.

What about the possibility of a rehash of an old Modular. The first one came out 10 years ago, they might think it is time to bring back one of the older sets in an updated version ?

I could only see them doing a rehash if they lowered the scale of the build to add to the interior. News must be soon! Really want a Hospital/clinic.

A school would be cool as my town is currently forced to use the upper floors of the left side of AS as two classrooms!

I wasnt sure about having a modular police station because I didnt think it would fit in with the other modular, but after seeing your Police Station modular...wow...I'd definitely like to see LEGO do one now. It looks great.

I doubt it. They've played their anniversary card with Assembly Square. It included elements from a number of previous modulars.

Be sure to check out Swisstony's as well, non-corner building and standard 32x32 footprint:

Yeah there are a couple of illustrations showing the elements of the AS rehash mashup:

Still, at one point they will have to bring in more Cafes, Restaurants, stores.

When I think what we still are missing: Book-store, Record-store, Clothes-store, Hardware-store, Pharmacy.

The Grand Emporium had a clothes section.

A Record Store would be cool, even though I already built one myself (left-most building in my sig).

There's nothing quite like opening up and preparing to build a new modular building- it's an annual ritual for me now and long may it continue :)

Btw - I hope you do your photoshop XL / XXL / XXXL mock ups again when the official set images are released - I love seeing those

Haha....no problem!! I put building Lego to another level...haha

They think there might be 2 modular ones for the year, because it seems that in addition to Palace Cinema, another two modular can retire 2018, Detective Office, Restaurant, so it is possible they launch 2 modular ones for year, to replace the 2 possibly retire.
I say 10256 and 10260 are modular is it possible somebody agrees with me.
I think it's possible.
It looked like it was the Police Station.

:classic::classic:

In the most recent episode of the "Lego Fan Talk" series, Michael from Promobricks claims that the next Modular Building will be released on January 2. He says that the release date was leaked by an online vendor together with price and set number, but no set name. Did we know this already?

Town Hall and Grand Emporium also retired in the same year, even within weeks of each other...
So, no. :classic:

If something like that had happened, I'm very sure we would've seen a corresponding screenshot somewhere, or someone at least would've posted the set name & price.

But dammit, if we'll get a January 1/2 release, this must be the longest they managed to keep a lid on things. Just tell us already, Lego!  :look::poke::excited:

From what I saw in the video, there is much talk in the police station and in a hospital.
If that settles the set of 10256 that costs 370 € More or less.
If we come, I come to 10256 if he for a 6000 piece gives a lot to make two buildings; Police Station and the Hospital.

That's what I think

Where could I see the video? Could you let me the link please?

We have been wishing and hoping for a big creator police station for years.

6000 pieces is a lot, so we could see two 32x32 baseplates or more and 4 or more storeys.

This could not even be a modular, but rather a stand alone building - like the Ghostbusters HQ. If it won't be a modular, the release date will not have to be the 1st of January, but rather later in the year (II or III Q)

Edited by ddavid

well, set 10256 has just been revealed by TLG; the re-release of the Taj Mahal. so now we know where those 6000 pieces are. Not sure if I'm happy about that though.

Edited by astra

Also not sure if I'm happy about this re-release, but, well, I don't really need it, don't really have the space (like with the Sydney opera), so that's some money saved for all the other Lego I'll buy anyway.

Given that this set could be released anytime, it explains why 10256 appears so late, numerically speaking.

Oh, and nice announcement video. :) Edit: did they just remove that tweet?
