Not necessarily : I made an elevator for a MOC appartment building (not yet completed !): my elevator shaft looks like a chimney with a door on every floor (4) and is fixed, a little bit like like the Lighthouse. Each appartment floor tough is removable. The removable floors are kinda U-shaped and the fixed elevator shaft is in the middle ou that U-shape.

It doesn't. As long as the elevator core is fixed, you can remove the floors. I'm working on a MOC with that technique.

Yes, sorry, that's what I meant. They may decide that having a fixed core isn't suitable for the modulars though. They've not done it before, and in the past they've said that the idea is you can replicate the middle floors of modulars to build them taller, so they may stay away from a fixed elevator shaft for that reason.

Or, they may decide to innovate and break the rules. After all, it's only their rules. And they're more what you'd call 'guidelines' than actual rules. :steve:

How can it work if the next modular building turns out to be a corner building?

So it is quite sure that it is a corner?

We don’t know yet. We know that Boutique Hotel is a corner building and then we have two straight buildings in 2023 (Jazz Club and Natural History Musseum). Since Natural History Museum was released in December, it kinda broke “3 year” pattern so we don’t know for sure.

But i can’t see how it can work - two 16x32 baseplates serving as a corner “townhouse” building? It could be impossible to do.  A 32x32 baseplate makes a lot for corner building.

Mostly residential corner could be very interesting. Provided, they actually make a real, full corner building and don't scam us out of half of it like they did with the last two with their reduced footprints.

It also would ne a nice change to the residential buildings we got so far, which basically were the two two-building sets. And as the corner is a given imho, I think we won't get two separat(abl)e buildings this time.

Wouldn't 2027 be the 20th anniversary of the theme?

If they follow tradition and release a corner build for 2025, then 2027 will be a regular building. Unless they go out of pattern and release an extra large footprint like Town Square.

Honeslty, I doubt that - we have Natural History Museum as a replacement for Assembly Square - we have no idea how long it will sit on shelves….

I expect something big for the 2027 anniversary. At least that's I'm hoping for.

I hoe it would be a skyscraper rather tan the wider building.

Last year, the first leaked picture was seen on October 29… I guess we have another 3 weeks to wait !

I think descprtion was leaked little more before Oct 29? We got detailed describe like olive green green and white columns?

The residential building doesn’t offer too much at the moment.

On the other hand, if they retire the Museum after three years, the 20th anniversary would be just in time for a new larger building.

And I don't expect the Museum to be around for even close as long as Assembly Square. 3-5 years seems to be the usual shelf life expectancy for modulars nowadays. Assembly Square being available for 7 years is a huge anomaly (for the modulars, and even more so for Lego sets in general)

Agreed - Bookshop only sat on shelves for 3 years and Police Station’s production lasted for 2 years.

Since Boutique Hotel is the 15th annivesary set, I’m curious how long it would last.

On Reddit theres a there’s a leak that rather than a residential building, it’s more of a b&b with a cafe?!

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense and I'm absolutely intrigued what that will look like... especially if it's a corner building.

My concern is if it plays too much with angles and such - reducing the overall building(s) footprint(s).
Other than the use of Light Nougat, the other major problem I have with the Boutique Hotel is that it just doesn't feel grand enough to me.

Well, I really don’t understand why people make a fuss about how “blocky” the buildings are.  I always welcome new shapes of the buildings - blocky or not. Boutique Hotel is such grand in its own way, thanks to its tringular share. It did amaze me with its share. I don’t feel like it’s a lackluster when it comes to reducing footprints, just to be honest.

I’m not sure…? I’m not 100% convinced - yet. I feel it’s best for residential building rather than a business building like B&B/cafe.

I was kind of disappointed when I saw it was a B&B rather than an apartment building. It just feels too similar to Cafe Corner and Boutique Hotel. I'm sure it will be great though.

It does make me think that making a mansions apartment or streamline moderne complex would be a neat thing to do, with a small courtyard/garden.

I like the idea of a B&B, though to me they feel like a country thing and not a Main Street in a city. The Alpine Lodge in Winter Village was amazing so I have high expectations. We did just get a Hotel recently, and that had a coffee cart, it would seem cafes are to Modulars what pizza/ice cream stores are to City.

I am not quite curious which architectural style they will follow for this upcoming modular???
