I think TH, at least in North America, is a goner. Hasn't been at Lego.com for a long time and ditto for the brick and mortar stores. Any left at a store would have either been sold at the store by now or worked their way back through the distribution system last fall.

I feel sorry for anyone just starting with the modulars. It now takes a lot of $$ or €€ to play catch up. I started this addictive hobby in February 2013 and only had to deal with three retired sets. In addition, GE and TH were great parts sets if you wanted to get started with MOCs.

PS keeps hanging on. I hope that one is to modulars the way the Death Star is to the SW series. It sticks around a long time. It's such a good, flexible design and a great introduction to the hobby.

Town Hall doesn't even show up in the german Shop at Home anymore. I'm pretty sure it's gone for good.

Also, Detective's Office right now is the ONLY modular readily available from there. All the others have shipping dates in February. For example, Pet Shop has February 24th. Yikes. Glad I got another copy of that one before Christmas.

I don't think I have ever seen the PR ever go out of stock in the USA, its also the only set that doesn't have a limit of 5, but then again, that is probably just another blunder on the S@H site.. :-)

I'm seeing GE on Amazon for as low as $236.99 (new) and TH for $465. Not bad on GE for a retired set. TH, well, that's kind of high in my humble opinion. But, it won't be a year from now if things play out as they have in the past.

I had an extra assembled PC with nowhere to place it. So, I took some of the bricks from it to use in the Detective agency, Starbucks, barbershop that I'm building. Some of the interior details were useful.

I left the second floor of the PC alone and moved it over to my original PC so that it's now one story taller. I also took the extra red facade and made it go all the way around the edge of the roof.

I guess what I noticed the most is that the extra floor on the PC is really stretching things as far as proportion is concerning. I may try to rebuild the entire PC so that it's not a corner building. Keep it the original height but let it stretch out to 64 wide.

Anybody built their DA yet? Happy with it? Made any adjustments? Any pics with yours displayed with your other modulars?

I still have mine in the box!

There's a lengthy thread on this site about the DO. Mixed views, lots of nice mods.

I suspect aftermarket TH's will run a little pricey as many many of the produced and sold TH's were split up and parted out. The TH has a massive amount of those fairly rare and often unique Dark Orange pieces.

I've postponed getting the DO until the next double VIP points special.

Today I finished building my modular MOC. Well, almost, I'm waiting for one final shipment from BL, but the principal building is done.

I pretty much blew my Lego budget for the first quarter of the year already. My MOC has ~3500 parts, 2600 of which were sourced from BL, and I also ordered a second PC and two copies of Bike Shop & Cafe for parts a few days ago. The latter was on sale, 60 instead of 70€, and I had a 10% off voucher, so I'll get them for 54€ each, which is an excellent price per piece ratio :excited:

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I'd love to see the 3500 piece MOC. As far the budget goes, just tell the rest of the family that some sacrifices will need to be made. :-)

Due to peer pressure..... :-) ....... I'm trying to do interiors. So, I find myself needing the services of pick a brick. Has TLG/DHL ever offered an expedited shipping service? I mean, I'd pay more to get stuff here faster. TLG seems to fill the orders promptly. Having spent a long time in transportation/logistics, I think I know how DHL handles the shipments to the USA. I just wish I could pay more to reduce the wait time.

They offer expedited shipping on sets but not on pick-a-brick.

We carefully hand pick and pack all orders from LEGO Pick A Brick and Bricks & Pieces. That's why we can't offer express shipping for this type of order. As they're personalised products, we don't accept returns for them. Pick a Brick deliveries can take 13-18 working days and Bricks & Pieces 7-10 working days to arrive. We can't add gift messages or delivery instructions to Bricks & Pieces orders. We ship these separately from any sets you've ordered so you may get your items in several deliveries.

Why not just use Bricklink? In my experience they are often cheaper and many sellers are willing to ship faster if you are willing to pay for it.

Same reason I don't have a Flickr account. Laziness and a reluctance to change. I'd read TLGs boiler plate, but I'm still curious as to why not expedited shipping for an extra fee.

Change is good  .

In most cases, BL is faster and cheaper than ordering from Lego.

When I BLed my Cafe Corner and Blue Grocer last year, I only resorted to BnP and online PAB for a view select parts that were impossible to get in the required amount from bricklink at decent prices. And I felt pretty scalped when ordering the dark red slopes from Lego...

Just a heads up to everyone..my brother picked up the Pet Shop from a local Lego store in Atlanta and was told that they were told that production on the set has ended and they're now selling off what is left of the inventory. The employee said they were told their last shipment was it and the website would be selling off what is left.

Heads up in case anyone is interested.

Thank you... I just placed an order... I wanted to wait a month or two because I just purchased the big remote controlled technic bulldozer, but I'll take the doubt hit this month since I have to. Can't risk it selling out and paying double on eBay. It's marked out-of-stock on the USA site but expected to ship February 14th.

If true, it's sad. PS, at least to me, has been one of the definitive modulars. I was hoping it would be to modulars what the Death Star is to the Star Wars theme. A cornerstone. A set that would be there for a long, long time. I'd find it hard to start a modular city now with so many of the classics gone. Especially with the three sets that will remain available. Of course, with the modular line being pulled away from the original intent (appealing to AFOLs), I guess its probably a moot point, anyway.
