I dont think we'll ever see a police station.

TLG always has a city police station for sale. It's one of their highest sellers. Having a modular one for sale with the normal city one will be bad for business.

I wouldn't ever say they would not produce a modular police station, because we get a new fire station every few years don't we ?

I'm not looking forward to an arcade, just because if they were to do one it would include a crap ton of stickers and I already had a hell of a hard time getting all the stickers on the Kwik-e-mart set straight. Also, I feel like we need a new set that has more attention to exterior detail since the DO was lackluster on the outside.

I think if the Arcade is going to happen it will nicely blend the fairground series and the Modular series together.

I would like an arcade, would be a fun place for the youngsters to hang out in my LEGO town.

The Arcade though must be printed and without stickers, just like the DO.

If it is indeed an arcade, I wonder if this means something like a classic 1980's arcade with video games, or perhaps something older like a penny arcade. In those days, there were a variety of different games, many of which were mechanical and not electronic. This could mean something where you have air hockey, skee ball, pinball machines, and some of the older games. Perhaps they could be designed in such a way not to make stickers necessary. I know Palace Cinema took a lot of criticism for having stickers in a premium set, even though there was really no other way to get around the poster and marquee placements. The only concern left concerning an arcade, whether modern or older, would be the piece count dedicated to it. To make details without stickers, you need to use lots of smaller pieces.

Done right, this could be a good modular, but there are some concerns.

Now what if LEGO did a cross-promotion between the modular arcade and the midway dimensions set. So say the robotron set will have a robotron figure AND a minifigure-scale arcade cabinet of the game. Those dimensions sets are marked up so high that it should be no problem for everything to be printed.

Haven't been able to read through all 122 pages of this topic yet, but I want to put in a couple of ideas for the next modular...

Music shop (with comic book or second hand book store on the second floor)

Mechanic (with car lift and many tools)

First modular I bought was the Palace Cinema, then I added Parisian Restaurant, Fire Station, Pet Shop, Town Hall, Department Store and finally Detective Agency... Would love to be able to get the green grocer and hotel...

Yeah, an arcade would be great, a bigger and much better version of my Lego Idea project (haha) :) But my concern is that it don´t fit the previous decades, the 30s and 40s..

Yes, love those. I also like a TV or radio station with a large antenna or flower shop. I couldn't CARE LESS ABOUT a hospital, bank, POLICE STATION, ETC... UGH, SORRY, I Installed THE public beta OF IOS ON MY IPAD. My keyboard just went haywire. I'm NOT RANDOMLY SHOUTING WORDS AT YOU...

THERE ARE MANY OLD BUILDINGS WITH new businesses WHERE I LIVE. I UPDATED MY FIRE BRIGADE WITH A NEW FIRE TRUCK AND THREW THE LIMO FOR THE PC INTO PARTS.

I wouldn't mind seeing any of the below as a modular building:

Museum

Arcade

Bookstore

Flower Shop w/ Greenhouse

Pharmacy

Music Store/Recording Studio

Nightclub

Spa

Or basically anything that isn't covered by the City theme.

Oh sure you're not shouting at me... haha... but I think I might have to MOC my music/book shop idea, with a door to a secret room behind a bookshelf, that sort of thing. And I agree that there doesn't need to be a "story" behind the set, I like my sets to simply speak for themselves...

i wonder what color has not been used yet for the modular line. Maybe that could be the next clue as to what this "amusement hall" would look like.

Funny how in the beginning of these rumors the title of the next modular are always vague and open to interpretation

Posted

I'm not sure if that is relevant. Apart from few 1x2 light blue bricks that you can't do much with the DO didn't introduce any new colour to the line. Tan and brown was there before. All right, there is a bit of medium flesh, but still not much, just one room.

I guess there is a big chance they will reuse some colours.

Posted

YES! But, maybe in blue and with different mini figures so that it can still be distinguished from the original.

And then the year after they can reissue Café Corner and the year after that they can reissue Market Street, again both in different colours and with different mini figures. Maybe they could even complete the interiors of the reissued models?

And then basically just continue reissuing all of the retired Modulars on a yearly basis so that I (and other late comers) can also obtain the Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium and Town Hall!

Posted

Hmmmm. I didn't mean instead of an annual NEW Modular release, just a second annual release which happens to be a re-issue in addition to the NEW Modular release each year.

I understand that, for whatever reason, some Lego collectors who already own ALL of the Modulars are against re-issuing the older sets, but surely if enough changes are made to the colours, mini figures and possibly even the interiors it would be acceptable?

Friends, I'm pretty happy...

Recently I won two ebay auctions at (I believe) much lower than expected prices. I received Grand Emporium yesterday and Fire Brigade is due to arrive tomorrow. I had planned on finding a way to grab the GE, but always assumed the FB was out of reach.

I'm stoked, looking forward to building these two!

For those interested, the FB was missing two minifigures, the tree and lamppost from the sidewalk and the top stud piece on the bell tower. It was $150, and the replacement parts are on the way from Bricklink, too.

I'm expecting a great build, akin to Pet Shop but not quite Parisian. Are my expectations appropriate?
