tsi Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) Glass for those windows would be great. It is odd to have them as empty frames. I find it even odder (and unrealistic) that the Palace Cinema used them at all. Who builds a movie theater with windows to the outside? Hi, those ones? Greetings ThomaS OK: shop Edited August 23, 2015 by tsi Quote
alois Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 They sell it as glass made from ABS. That's impossible, even Lego doesn't make trans clear parts out of ABS. Quote
LegoSjaak Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 I think the gold lattices look better than glass... Quote
Herky Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 The lattices at least make sense, you have the "look" of windows but this is more likely a darker room which would be right for a movie theater...the aesthetics of the building looking cool took precedent over common sense in this one I guess I am thinking we get into September to October and news will pick up, always interesting to see the thoughts though, lot of great ideas for modular here and constantly amazed at what people MOC up Quote
PastVPresent Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Just to play devils advocate, plenty of old movie theatres had windows on the outside (even the one PC seemed to be modeled on), maybe unlike the lego version they had curtains or a lobby behind them (as opposed to just open to the screening room) but working at lego scale and needing a way to dress up the exterior architecture, i dont mind the windows here. All that said, would have loved a decco theater similar to some of the great MOCs we've seen here and here Quote
dr_sarcophagus Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 (edited) Yeah, some art deco buildings would be great. And very '30s. PC is a good start, but some proper neo gothic or streamline moderne would be fantastic. Edited August 24, 2015 by dr_sarcophagus Quote
n8udd Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 A hot rod garage/motorcycle shop would be cool to see as a modular. The mechanic could live in an apartment up top. Whilst this would be awesome, I think this would be too similar to a scaled up version of the alt build of 31026. Quote
jaesroe Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I have hurd from a member of the lego worldwide council, that lego is showing the next batch of sets to employees on August 23rd 2015. Including winter village set next modular creator sets and new star wars sets to, I'm sure there are more themes aswell but these are the only ones I want to know about. So we will have to wait and see pictures will surely leak out after the 23rd I wonder whether there has been any updated news of clue for 2016 modular set's theme.?? not even a leaked info? after that 23rd August 2015? ronin Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Well my first post ever here. If it were to be an Arcade we could at least put the Dimensions Midway arcade in there.. Quote
ReplicaOfLife Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 September is nigh... still no reliable information. I'm starting to wonder wether the next modular will be released later in the year than its predecessors. Maybe a March release? That would at least explain the lack of news around it. Quote
Boettner Builds Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Maybe modulars are done like the winter village? :( Quote
Vindicare Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Maybe modulars are done like the winter village? :( Hold your tongue! Never speak of such nightmares again. Quote
namioik Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Maybe modulars are done like the winter village? :( They only made 3 corner pieces, there should be at least 4 to complete a block so I doubt it Quote
Vindicare Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) They only made 3 corner pieces, there should be at least 4 to complete a block so I doubt it I would certainly hope so. While I will arrange them as such when the time comes. It would make for an interesting, yet odd in ways, town layout. You could put a park or some such in the middle, but it would be hidden from view on a table. After thinking about it & quick blueprint, 10190 Market Street is the odd man out. I suppose that is somewhat justified, as it's not *officially* a Modular. Edited August 30, 2015 by Legocrazy81 Quote
parksroad Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 If I were an optimist I'd think maybe they were taking extra time to take some of the DO feedback into account. Sensible interior, more architectural detail on the outside rather than relying so much on masonry bricks... Quote
Sven F Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I think forum feedback plays a very insignificant role if any at all compared to plain sales figures. Although the designers might be driven subconsciously by a bit of that feedback. Let's hope so. Quote
ilikeboomerang1 Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 When I finish a block, I would put the FW and a park in the middle, with the DO alleyway being an entrance to it. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Actually, a lot of Lego designers do visit EB. The DO feedback on this message board strongly mirrored many of the comments on the online Lego site regarding the critique of the set. I do believe they are fully aware of the various opinions. And like some others, I am beginning to think that there might not be a Jan 1 release. We do not even have a name for any future modular. At this time last year, we at least had the name and were waiting for the photos. Quote
parksroad Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 The DO does have a slightly lower rating on shop.lego.com than other modulars out now. While it's only a slight difference, I wonder if that's reflected in its sales numbers? If so, that actually might be enough to alter the production schedule, depending how dramatic a difference there is between performance and expectations. I have zero actual insight into this, just musing since there's no hard information to work with. Quote
Vindicare Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I noticed today, that 10230 Mini Modulars should've already been released. We've had 5 since the first set. Quote
tafkatb Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I noticed today, that 10230 Mini Modulars should've already been released. We've had 5 since the first set. 10230 came out in 2012, after the first six modulars had already been released, and the same year as the seventh. If another set is coming out, I wouldn't expect it until 2017. Quote
