nikhkin Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 OH my god, please not till november. i still needing the PC and maybe another PS. but i think PS will be retired once the new modular is released. I'm not sure. Whilst it is the oldest, it is also one of the most popular. If it's selling better than the PC then I can imagine it sticking around longer. Quote
Actor Builder Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Pet Shop is a lot of people's favorite Modular. I know it's mine. I imagine it will be around past a few more of it's newer friends. It already outlived some, I believe. Quote

BrickFit26 Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 What about an apartment tower/apartment block? The lobby in the first floor The second floor could have 2 apartments: One with an elderly woman and 5 cats and the other with a young couple and their baby (the new baby with a pink torso) 2 more apartments in the third floor with... I don't know.... just more people and maybe a little garden in the rooftop This is exactly everything I'm looking for in the next or future modular. Quote
BritishBrickFan Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 I've got two Pet Shops as I got one on half-price offer from a shop closing down near me, I wanted it purely for a second apartment building, but really really want another.... I've also got the cinema, but haven't built it yet as I need to wait until I have redecorated in order to put the new shelves up to fit all this stuff! (my wife will kill me when she realises the extent of my Lego display!) Quote
Phoxtane Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 An inverted corner modular doesn't make sense, given how the rest of the line makes up a city block. Given how well that seems to have worked out for them, I'd expect them to continue with the traditional full-facade buildings. Quote
KCF Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 What about a potential modular building with two sets of directions? They could post an inverted corner directions pdf online Smaller creator sets do it with 3, and older sets would have alternate build pictures on the back of the box Quote
Lyichir Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) What about a potential modular building with two sets of directions? They could post an inverted corner directions pdf online Smaller creator sets do it with 3, and older sets would have alternate build pictures on the back of the box It would definitely be tricky to do something like that (since modern alternate builds basically require that the set be designed with all of those builds in mind), and I don't see Lego bothering considering that the traditional modulars are so consistently successful even without alternate builds. I generally don't think we'll ever see an inverted corner modular—not only is it a rarer configuration for real-world buildings and businesses (since most streets don't just make right angle turns all of a sudden), but in terms of presentation it's much less appealing than a facade or corner configuration, since both of those can be photographed from angles that highlight the fronts of buildings, whereas any angle on an inverted corner will prominently display the unfinished sides of the building (unless taken from a back alley or something). Captain Pirate Man Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Question everyone What modular do you guys recommend I buy next? I already own pet shop and palace cinema, and I don't want to miss out on any more modulars going forward. I started with those two because I expected them to be the first to be retired, but the way the pet shop keeps chugging along, who knows right? I really kinda want to get the brick bank next because it's a corner set, so with the two I already have it makes for a more complete look, but the BB is the newest set, and again I don't want to miss out on any of them. If you were me, which one would you buy next? Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 (edited) Since there are three more modulars to go before you have all of the current ones, then maybe the oldest of those would be a good one to get next. That would be Parisian Restaurant (my personal favorite). Probably, the most recent three will be available for at least the foreseeable future. Therefore, if you really prefer the Brick Bank, it might not hurt to get that one next as long as it will not take you too long to get the other two. Edited August 27, 2016 by AFOLguy1970 Quote
Captain Pirate Man Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 So the PR is older than the DO? I was unsure about that. In my ideal world I would have all of them within the next year, but I don't know if my wife will go for that, lol. I already spent a fortune on pirate and castle sets. So much so, that I have run out of sets for those themes that give me the "I need that" feeling. So my focus is shifting to city and modulars, slowly but surely. But ya, buying them oldest to newest is probably the smart idea. I just want that corner set, lol. Quote

After that I would get the Brick Bank because the Detective's Office isn't that great. Quote
BrickFit26 Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I would also recommend the PR. It's something I'm trying to save up for myself as the next modular I get. Quote
Obi1by1 Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I've always liked the look of the Parisian Restaurant, but while the Detective's Office might be less "flashy" looking, it's a wonderful build, with lots of really nice techniques. However, I always feel the best set to get is the one you like most. Seems obvious, I know, but why complicate the decision? Quote
Actor Builder Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Buy the Parisian Restaurant, and if you really feel like you need a corner building after that, destroy it and see if you can't make it into one. Odds are though, you'll love it too much to do that. It's one of the better modulars, in my opinion. Quote
Fuppylodders Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 So, retirement order by best guess would be parisian restaurant, detectives office, palace cinema? I have the pr and ps, and am looking to get all of the current available ones... Quote
nikhkin Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I'd say Palace Cinema, Parisian Restaurant, Detective's Office. Based on that being the order they came out. Quote
Roebuck Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 The oldest have a better chance at coming on any sales I had to wait a year, but got DO on a 25% discount Now I am waiting for a deal on BB Lego are sure holding the cards close to the chest now, I remember that we have got a lot of info on the modular in August previous years Quote

I know Lego never put sets on sale unless it's something that isn't selling and has been retired This time last year it was "an 80s style arcade" (what a terrible idea to go with the early 20th century style of the street they've been making so far). The Brick Bank info didn't come out until October/November time. Quote
cosmolon Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 when do they start selling the new modular? december 1st? Quote
