Less side builds, more substantial main builds.

Yes please! However, if Lego could get all their ducks in a row, I wouldn't mind them releasing complimentary vehicles in the Lego City line where appropriate. For example, the pink Cadillac and a couple of other classic cars from that era could have been released in the Lego City line at the same time as the Downtown Diner was released.

Similarly, IF we ever get a Police Station, then an appropriately vintage police car and paddy wagon could be released in the Lego City line. I doubt it will happen as it probably requires too much coordination and wouldn't "fit" with the designated theme/s for Lego City.

Yes, I remember thinking the same when DD came out. To be honest it seems like a no-brainer to me. Just as I’m sure many people (myself included) sought out the Flower Cart polybag to complement DO, I would be more than happy to shell out for small optional supplemental sets. It would leave more in the brick budget for the main build.

A bit of product line synergy would potentially benefit Lego in the other direction too, with younger kids getting an appetite for modulars after getting “hooked” on the accompanying vehicles.

That’s a great suggestion and I could not agree more.

I agree, but why put them with City? They could just put them with Creator. Creator already has some minifig-scaled cars, so that should not be a problem.

Yeah, that was my thought too.  These supplemental and complementary builds could go in the Creator line.  I think they would be more 'substantial' if in the Creator line.  Sometimes the City sets look small and junior-ized compared to Creator.

And to be honest, City has been doing this within the City theme.  The City cargo set had a snowmobile that matched the Arctic subtheme.  And the large City center set also had some nods to the Arctic subtheme.  So it's not as though Lego has never done this sort of crossover idea in their sets.  But it would be great to see it in the Creator modular series too.

Yeah sure, I was just spitballing. Including any complimentary vehicles or other builds in the Creator line does make more sense.

This is probably the best Lego creation I have ever seen. Perfect combination of my favorite two hobby LEGO and art. I wish something like that. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/ab298157-e1fa-4e71-8def-a2238a9bac4a

I think a new model dedicated to a sole business is not coming any time soon (in the style of GG or TH). That said, this model is very far from my top modulars list. It's nicely designed, just not my style :classic:

Yes, this was evidently intended as a joke by the OP, so not really any need for 'I know better than you' comments.

I personally hope we don't see any more vehicles in future modulars - as an AFOL the playability of these sets isn't a crucial factor but I have no doubt Lego do enough market research to know what will sell

Apologies. I didn’t recognize it as a joke, particularly considering how often I see AFOLs complain about either kids today being dumber than kids in previous decases, or LEGO designing sets and instruction manuals as if they are. I was in no way trying to brag or show off, just to push back against the tendency of adults in general to disparage younger generations and the quality of the stuff targeted at them.

You're not alone. And your post doesn't come across in the manner that response suggested either, on the contrary your posts are among the most informative and knowledgeable around here.

Wow, i feel surprised, thought it would match your style - lots of details on the facade and on the street, general look and feel a little less squared, but yet, I appreciate both, yours and the link style.. (besides the towers  ), I personally like it and would like such a modular coming next.. But true as well, single business big modulars are not the trend...

Thanks for inspiring!

I see what you mean, both our styles are somewhat similar. I take extreme care in making prominent focal points to my buildings, something to look at straight away, and am very much into finding new colour combos that might work (I found out white, flame yellow and teal work magnificanetly together!). Everything I do I want it to feel new, and Bricky_Brick (I feel) that always repeats the same tanninh-nougatish colour scheme with unclear lines to the builds.

Downtown Diner was revealed by the end of November. Assembly Square and Brick Bank were both revealed mid October. It'd be awesome if TLG would reveal the next modular in the next week or two, but we'll probably end up seeing the first pictures around November, especially since leaks for D2Cs have been scarce lately.

I can't wait!

Also, what are our thoughts on the talk of there being an old modular re-release, now that the Vestas turbine has been announced? Still going to happen? There's been a lot of Creator Expert set numbers rumoured/leaked, but not a lot of sets to go with them...

i really want it to leak already for a couple of reasons

1 - to see if they will move with the new arquitecture of the downtown diner.

2 - if its better than the diner i might have to skip the diner as im going to buy the Old Fishing Store and the dinner in the coming months , if the new modular is better than the diner i will wait for it in january and skip the diner

My top 3 modulars are the same as yours, certainly when it comes to the more recent releases. However I'm currently building the Diner and I have to say it's a thoroughly enjoyable thing to put together and looks much better in the flesh than it does on photos.

Personally I prefer the more quaint, "pretty" looking buildings like Assembly Square and Parisian Restaurant. They have a real charm and are very attractive things to display. For me the Diner lacks a lot of the charm that originally attracted me to collecting modulars. It's still an awesome Lego model but I can understand why it's not everyones cup of tea.

Anyway we are now well in to October so it's pretty exiting to think that we may only have to wait around 5 weeks before we find out what the next set will be. :excited:

IMO the Diner is one of the best modulars to date. Though it does look more modern than previous modulars, the use of SNOT throughout the build is incredible and really improves the look of the building. All the plate stripes where you'd think "this is where the floors can be separated" are hidden, which makes the building look so much more unified.

Plus, I'm a sucker for curves, teal and art deco

I really recommend the Diner to anyone who's on the fence about it, and am eager to see what aesthetic approach TLG follows for the upcoming modular.
