A casino is the best idea that I've heard of! Maybe we could have some American Indian minifigs? Before the political correctness gets out of hand, the US government classifies me as a Native American. And, some of us have a sense of humor.

Just to clarify by way of edit, in the USA many casinos are on Native American land.

Casino are usually for people aged 18+, which is above the age range of Lego sets. The same with bars, night clubs, and possibly pawn shops.

I Hope NOT....i hope they make: Library, Bank, Museum or University

The problem with those building types is that the exterior will likely just look like the Town Hall. I'm rooting for smaller-scale buildings such as a book store, diner/milkshake shop, or antique store. I rather have a smaller building (ala PR) that is backed with details, which is much more fun to build. But if you need more scale, you can simply add more floors. Win Win.

I just finished building Grand Emporium today and the floors just lie on top of each other, not secured by any studs. Is this the case for all older modulars, did they start attaching the floors by a few studs from Pet Shop and onward? Also, do you modify your older modulars to attach the floors better? I feel it's a bit flimsy and fragile with no studs attached...

On another note: I realized the street light for Parisian Reastaurant stands on a 2x2 plate, while the street lights in all other modulars are attached directly to the base plate. I first removed the 2x2 plate to level with the other lamp posts, but then I felt that it actually looks better with the plate underneath, so now I have added it to all the other lamp posts. How are you guys handling this "issue"?

That is the feature that makes them modular, that you can easily remove the floors to get inside. All of them have the 1x4 plates with 2 studs to make them easily dismantled.

I never noticed that the lamp post on PR was raised..I just went and looked at mine...I wonder if that was just a mistake? Or is it because its next to the bench, and it looked better to be taller? I know the sets that I have that have a fire hydrant, I have added a 1x1 plate under them to bring them up to the level of the sidewalk tiles...maybe that is what they wanted to achieve.. Maybe the future models will be raised up? Hmm..need to watch that in the future.. :-)

i have build so far the first 3 modulars: CC, MS and GG and they dont have any stud like tile, just plain. I believe LEGO started to put the stud feature from Pet Shop on-ward

We all must remember also that not all the modulars were or are been designed by one person hence the differences between them.

I think the modular should follow a certain flow. I think LEGO did realize that, making a stud feature is more safe, steady and solid thats why i think the changed to stud one which is perfect. My self having little discomfort when holding/moving the modular without a stud feature

My point exactly. I think I will mod my GE by adding a couple of 1x4 plates with two studs between each floor.

A bank would be very welcome, although a full size modular seems a bit large for a bank. Maybe only 2 floors like the FB and PC? A corner building would also reduce the footprint. However TLG does it, a bank would be really great, especially if it had an armored car to go along with it.

A couple of lego employees told me the next modular will be a bank. For what it's worth. Not much, eh?

YEEESSSS!!! A bank!!!

I think its time for a GRAND heist.

Hopes raised to maximum.

Hype generation begins.

A bank would be really interesting///// but so would be a casino.

Plus Casino's are quite interesting building especially if they are modelled on something from vegas or macau !!

A bank would of course be welcome. I can think of some old turn of the century bank buildings that would serve as a good inspiration for such a set. You would have the teller windows, a vault, some loot, and perhaps some office space.

Lately, each modular has a bit of a story that goes along with it, so there could be some type of action implied.

It could be a bank, or it could be a detective agency. These could also be red herrings just to throw us off. However, it should be soon before we get some type of confirmation for the next set.

I could see a bank been done as a modular, the older ones tend to have a particular distinct architectural style. Perhaps it will be a double height foyer with large arch windows above the doors, with a vault or office on the top floor.

I know that you can build your own but for some people who lack a lot of creative styling (like me), I think TLG should launch a modular set that is simply 2 townhouses somewhat like the one in the pet shop modular but one being red like in the pet shop and one being exactly the same but in yellow. I don't think that it would be much of an ask and it would make the layout look more complete and realistic because I don't think there are many places where you have all of thee in a row. As for the bank, I like the idea. I am making a stop motion with a robbery but at the end the guy has to rob the pet shop :/

If it's a bank, I'll have two guys robbing it. Callahan will be in the Parisian Restaurant across the street eating a hot dog. He'll see the robbery, go outside and say..... 'Do you feel lucky punk? Well, do,ya?'

That's a very nice building!

The Fire Brigade was connected with some studs, and the Grand Emporium came after that. However, when placed between other buildings the flimsyness of GE doesn 't bother me and the 1x4 plates with two studs make parts of the upper floor come loose or the 1x4 plate itself comes loose from the floor below. I really liked the approach on FB and GG to attach them with a few studs without using specialized parts and in my experience that old way worked better.

@DaltonWilliams: from the still available modulars I would go for the Grand Emporium since it will be the first to be discontinued. The Town Hall is a bit more expensive but good as well. I don't own the Palace Cinema or the Parisian Restaurant but I don't really like the looks of the Cinema while I think the Restaurant might be one of the best.

I changed all of my lampposts to having a 2x2 underneath it also. I just prefer not showing the baseplate if I can help it.

I have also changed all of the lampposts to black, and I altered the top light structure too. They look different, but I prefer them. I may change them back to white, but with the design method I chose. I will show it if I ever get around to getting pictures of my Sand Blue Grocer MOC/MOD.

a bank would work, interesting though, did it work with the pattern? I can't remember which page but someone had a pattern that they seemed to follow...TLG will not do a casino...a Museum would be cool, but unlikely to make it work, we have a grocery store, a mall, a theater, a fire station, a market, a hotel, a pet shop, a restaurant and a cinema...so a bank would go along cause everyone is going to need money to frequent these places.

A library would be cool too, although 3 floors of books may not thrill people.
