eurotrash Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Does that mean it will be taken down into the depths of your Lego ghetto? A free clinic? Pawn shop? Check cashing store? Car title loan/pawn store? I certainly hope so!!!!! Just wait until you see the next one! Quote

Car title loan/pawn store? I certainly hope so!!!!! I am quite partial to the bail bonds building myself. I could buy a city police station, modularize it and place the bail bonds structure next to it. Not quite sure if there is an established pattern yet, but if it does end up being a commercial building, then there is indeed one. Quote
Lego Conductor Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Were not to far off from a square city block. If we start with Market Street next comes Cafe Corner, turn the corner and you get the Green Grocer and Fire Brigade. Next up is the Grand Emporium, turn the corner and you get Pet Shop and Town Hall. Next up is the Palace Cinema, turn the corner and you get Parisian Restaurant and the 2015 Modular. 2016 is corner Modular and in between it and Market Street is the 2017 Modular. You now have a complete square Modular city block. If you don't count MS has an official Modular you can start with CC and end with a 2018 Modular to complete the block! Quote
Off the wall Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Okay, many of you (us) will be at a lego store tomorrow to look at and/or buy one of the many new releases. While there, let's ask about modulars and report back with the answers. Should be interesting and full of conflicting info. Quote
LegoStraz Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 A school building with a 30's school bus would get my vote. Quote
Herky Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 at the store, got new releases, asked on modular, talked straight to the head store manager, she had not heard a thing yet...we discussed bank, she said she would like to see a school and then another guy and I said hardware store same time...so we seem to be in agreement with Lego Store employees, but nothing official has been heard in the Midwest stores yet at least. AFOLguy1970 Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I asked in Dallas. They are not of what or even when the next release is, but they are looking forward to it as well. Quote
VintageLegoEra Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Hope it has Number of pieces of 3000 and above Quote
AncientDayz Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I really liked the idea that an earlier post had of a laundry mat and detective's office. I can see a bank being a popular way to go, but the idea doesn't thrill me (then again, I will probably change tune once I see the great job they usually do with these). Personally, I would really like a police station (I know City is over-run with cops, but I don't have a place for my collectible minifigure police), a hospital, or to a smaller extent, a school. Anyway, I asked at the Orland Park, Illinois, store, and they honestly had no idea about the type, price, or timing of a modular. They were just sure that there wouldn't be anymore this year (which I think we all assumed already given the date). Quote
CrazyDalton777 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Don't know if this helps or not but I went to the LEGO store in Cardiff searching for GE and got one, the employee said to me that they had a delivery from the previous day and that included some GE's. I was lucky as my GE was fresh out of a box from the LEGO warehouse. This means that LEGO might have made some more of these sets. Quote

Modular has 2 years of shelf live, but also the customer demands of any set can increase the shelf live. if LEGO gets many demands on any set to get, then they make more...this what i experienced with other products Quote
glendo Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Where is the legendary Grogall and his always reliable intelligence of the upcoming modulars???? we're starving for news here! Quote

Herky Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Does anyone remember when the Paris Rest started selling? I am thinking they will not let us know at this point until 4 months out from selling date. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 It was out on January 1. Yet, we did find out about it long in advance. If one is to be released in the same time frame, we should be hearing about it very soon. Quote

Faefrost Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Don't forget PR actually hit a few months early. We normally used to see the annual Modular just before Easter. So PC and PR only had around 8 months between them. Quote
rollermonkey Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 If LEGO did that they would be committing suicide from a business point of view. Hyperbole much? While it would suck for collectors if TLG discontinued the Modular line, it would be far from corporate suicide. As the sets with typically the best PPP ratio every year, yet not a huge number of sales compared to some other lines, there is at least some chance that modulars aren't all that profitable. Quote

The modulars generates a lot of attention to the LEGO brand though, so they're a good marketing point, especially toward AFOL. But I too doubt the actual sales of the sets are very profitable. Quote

I think FB was by far the most profitable of the line, and a resounding success, followed by GE. The mileage on some of the others may vary. Quote

What will we do!?!? There are no rules set in stone for when products are released - only the market can determine this. Right now, there is a vast array of Exclusive products that continue to sell well (even as far as the Tower Bridge and VW Camper), despite their unprecedented shelf life. I would take an educated guess that the next modular will be released in Spring/early 2015, with a new (and due) Creator train arriving on Jan 1st. This would mirror the launch times of the Palace Cinema and Horizon Express in 2013. Quote
