ZevesdroX Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Bureau? Sounds Federal. Yes indeed! Quote
Guest RangerDog Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Don't Really think it is, even normal offices are sometimes called Bureau. (this site is also Dutch :D) Quote

Lind Whisperer Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Bureau? Sounds Federal. Google Translate lists it as "10246 Detective Agency". I'm guessing that for the shops besides the Agency, if one is supposed to be Asian, it will probably use one of these: Quote

nzlegolady Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 That natural history museum on Lego Ideas is amazing! I hope it gets to 10 000. It's on 6500 right now. Quote

Faefrost Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 With regards to the detective agency speculation, what many of you forget is that the modular buildings work independently from one-another. Like other product lines, they are part of a system but not dependent for their completeness. The feature of being able to 'connect' these buildings is precisely that - a feature entirely for marketing purposes. There is therefore no reason to assume that the series needs a police station, a library, a dentist or any other specific service, as the models have original scenarios. If you were going to pinpoint the objective or purpose of this sub-theme, then you are looking at idyllic - even timeless - situations that a more mature audience can associate with, regardless of gender or background. A detective agency above a laundromat/diner neither sounds interesting to build, nor does it contain the 'cutesy' appeal of wonderful architecture that has been scaled down so accurately. Likely, the next modular building will either be a different take on a service that has already been represented, or a scenario that we have yet to consider. The only way a detective agency would work is if it was based on something as significant as Sherlock Holmes, where the architecture is unique. Way back when we first heard of this I speculated that if it is a Detective Agency, it probably would go for a film noir type feel. Think Sam Spade, Maltese Falcon, Chinatown type feel. That's the kind of story that seems to fit into the tastes of some of the designers we have seen so far. As far as distinct architectural style. Art Deco, US Chinatown or a New Orleans French Quarter would be my guesses. Quote
Fritzy Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Wow, a Detective Agency? If we're getting it this year, I guarantee it'll be my first modular. :o Can't wait to hear and see more! Quote
Paperballpark Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 1st Jan 2015. £132.99 in the UK, so the same price as the Parisian Restaurant. Quote
BeardedNerdSE Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Heights for modulars: Market Street: 33 cm Green Grocer: 33,5 cm Pet Shop: 28,5 cm Grand Emporium: 29 cm (without sign) Parisian Restaurant: 30 cm I've had to shorten the towers on CC and FB to fit them so I can't say how tall they are: more than 35 cm anyway. TheLegoDr Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I assumed they would raise prices to have a new standard price. Quote
rollermonkey Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 You want the price higher? PR was already more than the standard... Quote
TheBlackFool Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) I'm believing more and more that this 'Detective Bureau" is legitimate. However, I'm still curious whether it will be an official government type building, or a PI/Noir style one. I'm hoping for the latter, but I feel like Lego is going to go for the former. Edit: Random thought. With all the leaked photos of '15 sets, and the fact that there was no modular in there, can we safely assume that the new modular wont have a Jan1st release, and will probably be later? sgeureka Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 If Paperballpark, who was the first to say we'd get a DA, is right, then I presume he'll also be right with saying the release will be on Jan 1. As I posted on Brickset this morning, I have been reliably informed that the next modular will be a Detective Agency. £132.99, available 1st Jan 2015. Quote

The leaked info about 2015 sets was (I believe) from a retailer/retailer catalogue. D2C (exclusive) sets are just that - exclusive to LEGO stores, so won't have appeared in retailer catalogues yet. melbs Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Doesnt matter what its called and how it looks, i mean aren't we all buying the next modular? They truly are stand out products from lego that we just got to have the next release. I mean seriously, given there's no budget constraints, given that its only 1 modular per year, its an automatic buy for me no matter what. Im as excited since my first modular (fire brigade) upon release after release. Not one modular made me feel my money wasn't worth it. Which i cant say to other city sets and creator sets despite them being cheaper. Quote

From the beginning, modulars have featured nice detail, so I have full faith that this will be an "older" appearing structure. Nice detail on the outside combined with a story featuring a detective would be expected. Hopefully, some of the cliches one would expect in a private eye agency will surface. I cannot wait to see the designer video when it comes out. Quote
Herky Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 The words on the Chinese tile above say Ninja and then Dragon God, interesting. I would love for the price point to go back down to $150...but I did see someone called Detective Agency back in July of this year for the 2015 modular, that was some interesting speculation. I did not figure they would do Sherlock Holmes, his era from about the late 1880's to around 1910 wasn't going to work...but strange to see a rumored Oriental type building to add to the Cinema in this line. Hoping the NYCC brings us pictures. Quote
Off the wall Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I am still hoping for a building that is more at the core of most cities. Hospital, museum, school, post office, police station. Hoping....... but as long as the building design makes sense, I can always change the subject matter regarding the occupancy. Quote
ritzcrackerman Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 TLG posted today on Facebook a "big announcement" in 4 days - will that be the 2015 modular I wonder...? It's almost a red herring, as the brick-built "4" counter looks suspiciously like the Fantastic Four logo. :) Quote

Please, please, please let it be classic style Reed Richards, if it is(the version that appears in LMSH). That would be the perfect hairpiece for my Ransak custom... Chances are, though, it will be the Bionicle "reveal." Because we aren't supposed to know it's coming out next year... Edited September 15, 2014 by Lind Whisperer Quote
rollermonkey Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Every themed forum right now think the countdown is something for them... Pretty unlikely they are all right. :) Quote
