So, I found both the Police Station and no 12 Grimmauld Place under the tree, lucky girl that I am. I do have both modular and Harry Potter displays set up separately, but I was wondering if anyone have combined 12 Grimmald Place with the modulars and have a picture?

There are are a few on Rebrickable under the alt builds tab, @FrkW.

Here's a pretty terrible photoshop job that I made to illustrate my idea. I'll share the finished project mid-January!

Like the look of that! The darker colour on the ground floor definitely looks more appropriate for the subject matter. Would you be tempted to make it dark blue, rather than black, to tie in with the colour of the sign? (Assuming you wouldn’t try to replace it entirely).

I like the idea of the staggered facade - maybe you could simplify the roofline on the “wings” either side, to emphasise the central sections? I might have worried there was a risk of repetition with the windows, but it actually looks a lot better than I might have expected.

Sounds like quite a lot of work all told though. I ended up doing a not-dissimilar job with the Palace Cinema to revamp the colour scheme, make it a clearer Art Deco style, and give it a full interior. In the end there was very few of the original bricks retained!

  • I did play around with dark blue and I think that you are right, it works better.
  • I think on reflection I'll to aim replicate the central window design for the staggered sides but without the wheel arch, and turn the ground floor windows into doorframes for posters.
  • I think you are right about simplifying the rooflines on the extensions too.
  • Haven't decided whether to replace the sign yet, but if I do  it because I light my modulars and I'll be aiming to create more of an LED/Neon effect sign.

Gives me a lot of Cinema Palace vibes.

I’m waiting for  Modular GWP info…GRR

Anyways, I would like to see someting new in Modular line in future:

  • Abandoned building
  • Historic attraction (like Paul Reeves’ house in Boston)
  • Toy store
  • Japanese restaurant with garden
  • Watch / clock workshop
  • Single-purpose apartment building
  • Martial arts training center
  • Single-purpose museum
  • Indoor axe-throwing range

There is a newly announced GWP of a new line of mini modulars, first one is a latin American house. I think the purchase threshold is £200 GBP. Perhaps the Pizza Van was a bum steer, it WOULD kind of make sense for the GWP's released around the same time as modulars to be mini mods. I'll be pleasantly surprised by a pizza van if it surfaces.

Has any modular a mailbox?

The townhouse in Pet Shop does. Simple design but works well.

Still waiting on a modular Post Office (as mentioned higher up in the discussion) - seems like the perfect subject, and chance for a traditional 19thC shopfront, which the HP Diagon Alley set demonstrated can be done very well in Lego.

Yeah! the Downtown Diner 10260, Pet Shop and Green Grocer, does have a mailboxes too :)

So. Grand Emporium, Pet Shop's Townhouse, Green Grocer and Downtown Diner, have mailboxes.

Green Grocers, are mailboxes for the residents of the house. https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/29342-review-10185-green-grocer/

Pet Shop's Townhouse, mailbox for resident of the house, I think.

Downtown Diner and Grand Emporium, has both one outside. For sending mail.

Wait two mini Modular GWPs? Where do I find info?

Happy New Year everybody!!!

Are you guys buying the new Modular now with the 40580 Blacktron Cruiser GWP, waiting for Jan 15th for the 40583 Houses of the World GWP, waiting till February/March for the rumored (but unconfirmed) Pizza Van, waiting for Double VIP or waiting for a discount outside of lego.com?

So many (too many) options and I’m overwhelmed by this choice :pir_wacko:

I'm thinking I'll wait—since I'm doing an online order tonight instead of planning a store trip tomorrow, my priority is the new Monkie Kid sets (since those are no longer available in-store where I live, and thus won't be eligible for any future in-store discounts or anything). So other big-ticket items can wait for a future in-store discount or GWP. Obviously your mileage may vary based on your taste in themes and how many high-dollar items are on your wishlist to take advantage of other future GWPs.

If the rumored Pizza Van is real, a part of me hopes it'll take some inspiration from one of my classic sets, Pizza-to-Go (though obviously I'm hoping for something a little bigger and more refined to go with the modular).

Unless it's a GWP I really can't live without I'll wait until it's no longer an exclusive and get it cheaper - but I'm patient and don't have enough time to build.

Happy new year!

I'm waiting for the pizza van GWP. I like it when you can have things combine together.

Me, too.

I usually buy the modular first thing in the year. But not this year for me - read somewhere (rumor) that the Pizza Van *might* be tied to a modular purchase.

What?

:ugh:

Even if the rumor is true, more and more I get the feeling how LEGO is using GWP's is getting out of hand. It's getting frustrating.

The purchase treshold nowadays is insanely high, the limited availability adds pressure and most of all the GWP's are often sets that I feel are missing in the LEGO catalogue: fine little sets aimed at AFOLs, that could have been affordable if only they were offered to buy. I often feel I would like to buy multiple, but as GWP's that is difficult.

This night I went for the Blacktron Cruiser and bought the Jazz Club, but I can't help feeling tricked. If the rumor the Pizza Van is coupled with a modular purchase is true, I will feel really bad.

I caved and bought tonight online. I really wanted the Blacktron GWP and will probably snag the Pizza Van if it is not tied a modular specific purchase.

Or if the gwp is good, get it on bricklink..

If you can find the modular on another reseller than lego, you can often even spare money.

Last year i only bought the BH on the official store because of the vintage taxi AND 10% off because the box had a little scratch.

I'm holding off until Feb/Mar for the pizza gwp.  I also heard that it was tied in with the modular.  Which, if true, is unfair to those who buy early.   I remember the Vinitage Taxi as a gwp after January, but can't remember if it was only with purchase of the modular.

For the space fans, the Blacktron gwp is great.  I'm not so much of a fan, so I can wait.  Timing of the Blacktron gwp is odd to me.
