If I can get two Botanical gardens for 20%+ plus I'm getting two. It's just such a wonderful set.

But $150 for a two wall tower, and a very overpriced $70 for The Kitchen, is just too much.  41704 has a third wall, even half a third wall would make be happy.

I lived somewhere that had an arboretum in a park, turns out after I moved away I found out that another park only 6 miles away also had an arboretum. If cities can have two arboretums than a LEGO city can have two greenhouses.

Deal! Two greenhouses it is.

Also, I was wrong about the walls. It has a partial third and fourth wall that you can see on the back of the box. More on the Friends thread - 2023 Friends Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion - Page 19 - LEGO Town - Eurobricks Forums

Also, just look at the space and level of detail inside this compared to the City or Creator ones. It's just so much better.

Thanks for sharing! I hadn't seen these pictures anywhere and my daughter has been asking for them as if in a frenzy.

What is your favorite Modular Building set(s) so far?

Parisian Restaurant, I think. Still prettiest of the bunch. Assembly Square is looks good and impressive, but didn't love the build for some reason. And honestly, I quite like the Birch Books.

Several new buildings in the Bricklink Designer Program series 1 finalists - Designer Program [BrickLink]

Parisian Street is most in-keeping with the front of the modular buildings, although very different at the back, and not designed to close up at all. Initially it looks nice, but compared to the official sets, I think it might stand out too much with such large colour blocks. It's a nice idea, but I don't think it's for me. I'll very likely be going for the much smaller Snack Shack though. Small builds can be awesome.

Is it true that Moving Truck GWP set comes back?

EDIT: Yup it does come back, I saw it on Lego S@H website.

Not sure if this has been brought up. Anyways…is it rue that the original Newspaper Press plan had been scrapped and switched with Jazz Club for some reasons? I mean, we already have Daily Bugle that was released in 2021 and it easily blends into Modular Building. However, I was not aware about Newspaper Press plan being scrapped until last night so I was not sure if it was just speculation.

In one of the interviews, the designer said that was the original plan, in the very early stages, but then they did the Bugle, so they scrapped the idea. It sounded like it was very early stages, and not even a prototype model. I expect they discuss lots of concept ideas, but in this case, there was a small coincidence and a bit of a story, so it was mentioned. Same for the original concept for the Downtown Diner being a car showroom, but many things got in the way of it being practical.

I suspect they tell us these things when there is no chance of the concept being made in the future.

Okay, thanks for explanations

Unless Daily Bugle would be retired in two or three years, they might revisit that Newspaper Press idea, which itwould be great. But yeah I see your point there.

Also, there is a very small coincidence - we have a Newspaper Kid minifigure from CMF Series 24 to go along with the cancelled Modular Building set.

Really hoping that the next modular would be less controversial as the Jazz Club (many complained about the color combination).

Rooting for this... although I would really prefer it to be a true modular and not just dollhouse style with the back open.

If going by what has been featured in CMF Series 24, perhaps we might get:

-school or daycare (girl with rocking horse)

-potter's studio (potter)

-zoo (koala guy)

The other minifigs have some links to recent releases, albeit non-modulars, like the carrot guy who may represent the organic shops, etc.

Yeah I feel like scraping the original 17th Modular Building plan (Newspaper Press) was a big challenge for the designer to come up with a Jazz Club concept. I could imagine they were very franatic putting that club together and saying “Done!”. But it’s no excuse for them to choose color scheme for the enitre building.  So let’s hope for the 18th building much better.

I sure hope we would get a school or daycare!

Potte’s studio may be a small business rather than a main one. For example, the jazz club is dominant while pizzeria is a small business. Or police station is a big one while donut shop is small one.

I think zoo would be very cool but how can Lego do that to fit into Modular series?

I think carrot cosme guy meant to be a mascot for City’s Farm subtheme - there is a farm market van set.

I suspect it would make a lot more sense for the CMF figures to accompany anything to come with or after the set, not before. As nice as it would be to look for clues, it doesn't feel like the place to consider. The newspaper boy was far more likely to go with the newspaper stand in the Police Station.

I really didn't get the impression that the set was rushed from the story at all. It sounded like a non-story, to be honest, but something you can make sound good. They gave the impression that it was very, very early stages. An idea on paper, and nothing that will have impacted the timelines of the building. More significant was the plan to include an alleyway in the middle. Obviously I can't find the source though. Ashnflash had a video on it, but I'm sure I read something that gave more detail, but Google is failing me, sadly.

The colour scheme they did talk about a lot, as it was originally dark blue, but then decided to change it to red as they were getting negative comments about the blue. That does appear to have been a relatively 'last minute' change, although these things are probably locked in months and months in advance of production.

Not sure if the modular line is supposed to not compete with the Friends line, but I believe someone did mention that a theater was at one point considered? I feel like if the Modular line is supposed to not compete with Friends or City, then the selection list would be so short.

Brick Clicker did say in one of his videos that they will be retired.

Thank you. I’m curious why Police Station has to be retired this year - it isi only available for two years while Bookshop is on shelves for three years.

I get it that Assembly Square is a 10th anniversary set in celebration of Modular Buildings. I’m just wondering why Police Station - is it normal?

I feel like sometimes retirements have less to do with how long it's been and more to do with if they fill a niche that other sets aren't filling. I wouldn't be surprised if Bookshop is sticking around because it's the only one currently that splits into two half-baseplates that can be rearranged. IIRC its predecessor, the Pet Shop, also stuck around comparatively longer than some of its contemporaries.

If it's not selling well, then they don't make more and stock eventually runs out. If I remember correctly, Town Hall and Market Street also had rather short release windows because of that fact. (I believe one of the designers has stated as such in the past about TH.) So, one can only assume the Police Station isn't selling enough to warrant another run. Also, the 2 year run for a Lego set is perfectly normal for most sets... modular buildings either run longer due to popularity (as in Assembly Square), or stop at ~2 year mark.

It could also be shelf space. They're releasing a lot of large, adult focused sets right now. There will be three modulars on shelves in January 2024 if they retire all of those above (BH, JC, 2024 modular). So PS it's competing for space with lots of other stuff that's new.

Do you mind elaborating on Downtown Diner being a car showroom? I love to read about the behind the scenes and Downtown Diner is my favorite of all the modulars.
