Hello folks!  I am not sure if this quesiton had been answered here bfore.

So here it goes… I just finsihed buildking Police Station two months ago and something still bothers me. There is a crown/lotus-like piece that is hidden beneath the stairs on he ground floor, what is it supppsoed to mean/represent?

That's a good question, and I find it weird too. I always assumed that they put it there to decorate the space as seen from the back door, while providing support to the stairs, but didn't try to overthink it from there.

I'm not having any luck getting the Jazz Club for cheap.

Well, there is cheap, and there is Cheap. I sell sets to people I know in other states for straight retail when they are first released, since I don't have sales tax. On an expensive set that can add up to way more savings than the cost for me to ship it to them. In exchange I get the VIP points and any GWP.

I believe your are referring to the Brooklyn 99 reference the designers wanted to include in the set (in the show they have halloween heists to determine the best detective/genius and one of the years the object they hunt is a crown).

Ah really? I did hear of Brooklyn 99 tv show but never watched any of its episodes. That’s interesting. They included a crown piece in the set as a reference!

It's an easter egg for the Brooklyn-99 TV show, where they do a Halloween Heist game each year, with two characters competing to find the crown first.

Edit: Oh, ninja'd. Ha!

(About an hour ago, but I didn't see that the thread continued on the next page).

Looking through his list it doesn't include all modulars, even though the title says so. It lacks Detective's Office, Parisan Restraunt, Palace Cinema, and Market Street. Does include a few early WV sets and all fairgrounds up to Roller Coaster, Haunted House, plus a couple of Friends fairground sets. Includes Disney train and lots of track. Has most Collectible minifigs from series 4 up, but not all. Includes some city vehicles, roads, boats, and misc. city decorations including a long detailed seawall. Includes maybe 20 lb of spare parts.

Looks like someone who got into Lego about 2015-16, picked up some older modulars to fill in, and gave up recently. Nicely painted walls and room setup, but looks to have never been completed, or else they've already sold a bunch previously.

I will total up the actual value before going to look, and would probably offer 75% of FMV so that I could sell what I don't need for a moderate ROI. I'm guessing that it will be well under 10k. Have to see.

If I was to sell my setup, $10K is around what I'd ask. I actually do have all the modulars though, right up to this years Jazz club. 18 Modulars at an average price of $150 USD brings the total for just the modulars to $2700 retail, give or take. Then vehicles, minifigs, spare parts, etc.

Judging by the list given... I'd say maybe $5500-$6000 USD is what it's actually worth, but that could be off wildly. I'm unfamiliar with a lot of the actual collectible minifigs value.

Cheap to me is 30% to 40% off.

I managed to find Downtown Diner set at a nomral price! Not cheaper nor expnsive, but. I’m okay with it. A victory for me! I will continue hunting for. Garage Corner…

I was building Boutique Hotel today and I was blown away by how amazing it is! A gun as a toilet paper holder on the 2nd level (third story)? That’s pretty hilarious.

You weren't a VIP before?!

What site gave $45 cashback on the jazz club? I still need to get it, but that's all a very good deal.

If you are a VIP you can get up to three of the blue key chains for free. I've been a VIP for at least 15 years.

Opps. I thought I said it. The Honey app / extension. It's $40 cash back on Police Station, Hotel, Jazz Club. $20 back on Book Store I think one other modular. The other $5 was from my credit card.

Awesome, thank you! It was $20 earlier when I checked, but I've now ordered a Jazz Club.

How do you get the keychain?

It's the VIP rewards area. They give you a code, you can get up to three, but only one per order like all physical rewards which is lame.

Not too much about the sets themselves but recently got the Bookshop and Police Station in the mail. No padding or cushioning or bubble wrap or foam in the box and they were both open with bags leaking out, unsealed and damaged when I opened the larger box which had visible denting on it. Obviously the UPS handers were rough with the package but the fact that Lego packed these 2 large sets on top of each other rubbing up against the seal of the box with absolutely no protection certainly contributed to how I got them.

I work a lot and have yet to make a claim and unsure if I can go to a Lego store and swap them but I would very much like to as I was very unhappy with the way Lego packaged my order. I order from Bricklink all the time and those vendors have the decency to package my sets with air bubble bags, foam, cushion padding and paper and they always arrive in great quality. I'm not even blaming UPS because there was no attempt on Lego's end to pack it in a way that would have secured them should a rough handler do what ended up being done. I was intending on building those sets at a later date but if I am not approved to swap them I'll have to build soon to ensure no brittle brown pieces or other colors for that matter were broken and need replacing. As I wanna be sure to request replacement parts while they're still being produced. (You never know the part you might need to request may be gone with the set itself when it retires). So either I have to return the damaged boxes or build them in sooner than anticipated which is no fun. An inconvenience either way sorry for the rant.

TLDR modular order poorly packaged and came damaged. Inconveniencing me. the end.

@cosmic Something similar happened to me last year when I ordered several sets. i contacted LEGO and was told that because of the commitment to reduce waste and plastic use that their packaging was changing and the shipment was just placed with packaging paper. Which I understood and appreciate. But because of the rough trip the Jane Goodall GWP set was severely damaged the box was ripped badly and the boxes of other sets were damaged too. I keep the boxes for the art work. But they gladly replaced them free of charge. Call them up when  you can.

It happened to me in May this year. I ordered Ob-Wan Kenobi ‘s Jedi Starfighter set. When it was deleivered to me, I was very suprised to see how bad the box was crushed. Not only the box. However, i really don’t care about box art. There was more - a plastic bab ripped open inside that box.

Not a moderator but what does this do for conversation? Seems a bit passive aggressive and contributes nothing to the discussion but create tension.

I understand the environmental perspective but package handlers can be very rough, I ultimately wish they had a program where recycled cushioning products could be used. I won’t pretend to understand the logistics of everything at play, just not excited to get a broken, bent, damaged, & scattered set. I work 2 jobs so I really need to find the time to make the call asap.

So you are fine with the other person here doing that but when I do it it's passive aggressive?

Yea, they definitely can be rough. When they sent me the replacements the package came in perfectly that time around they added more paper. Try writing to them via social media they respond there fast too.

Thanks for sharing your tip with us! Not sure about social media but I’ll give it a shot next time i get another damaged package. Thanks again!

That’s interesting because I just ordered those exact two sets from Lego and they shipped them in two separate boxes, with the GWPs being packed with the Bookshop. Not much protection in my case either though, just some paper filling. Everything in the Bookshop shipping box seemed to be fine for the most part but the Police Station box was a bit more beat up since it was the only thing in its box.

There have been a lot of leaks so early on, but always disappointed when it's nothing about the 2024 modular.

Usually D2C sets like modulars are kept under tighter wraps than sets sold through other retailers at launch. Leaks for a modular would have to come from Lego Brand Retail or a similar source, as opposed to lists of normal sets in themes like Ninjago or City that'd be distributed to a wide range of retail partners.

This. They are doing a good job at at keeping leakers out.
