I’m really curious about the 4,014-piece Modular Building set… I mean, that piece counter is higher than Assembly Square (10th anniversary set). Something odd but I’m excited to see more infos Turing up soon or later.

Side note: if this is true, I guess Assembly Square has to dethrone and allow the next Modular Building ascend!

According to Brickclicker the 4014 pieces for the new modular might be true...

So that is the rumor we heard it may be larger. i wonder what buidling it would be this time.

Brick clicker speculated that hospital might be one of the possibilities if it were that big...

I know a post office was done as a moc by someone before, but I also know this one has been asked for, for quite some time now and might just happen. newsroom/post office combo perhaps. I mean this is all just rumors and speculation. It doesn't matter what it is, I will always get it on the 1st of the year as long as they continue with the modular line. Probably one of my favorite lines aside from the Aquanauts of the 90s

I agree that Post Office could be a possibility as well.

Just pure speculation on my part. Lego has re-done sets for Castle, Forestmen (gwp), Black Falcons, Pirates, Space. Isn't Octan/ City another classic theme that has yet to be done? It is the only theme featured as a gold coin not yet done as a set remake.

Aquanauts were probably the best thing ever when I was a kid, then they had another one similar that came out that I believe I only got the base for because they had it at KB toys outlet. I still have all those sets, complete with everything except the box. As for the modular (let's stay "mostly" on topic) office supply/post office would be a great edition, or like I said, newsroom but not like broadcast but newspaper with printing press and such. As much as the idea sounds good, I don't think a hospital would make a good modular. I know this year is going to be the biggest one yet, but at the same time, a clinic and pharmacy would be better suited instead of a hospital. Make like detective office kind of with part being the pharmacy and the other being the clinic with exam rooms, a waiting room/reception, etc., and over the pharmacy part could be doctor's offices. I only say this as my opinion because I grew up in a small town, next to two other small towns/cities in upstate, finger lakes, NY and all three's downtown area had rows of "modulars" gas station/auto garage on the corners, shops, pizza, one had a music hall and music shop next door, but my hometown had a bank on the corner (still does), a post office on another corner (still there) and a police station and fire station, all old style buildings, still there to this day. the hospital is out in the sticks practically. I wish I had a photo of downtown so you could see it.

It was Aqua Raiders. But yesterday. I agree a hospital would be too big to satisfy the fans. I can see them doing a smaller like ER clinic, small clinics that are popping up all over the place now it seems.

I’m hoping this larger modular serves as a sort of replacement for Assembly Square - multiple buildings, giving the feeling of a full street in only one set

This is what I'm thinking too. I didn't think a modular this big wouldn't come out until 2027, but since AS is retiring and a good seller, then LEGO probably wants to keep that momentum going with something of that scale.

It could be possible for hopsital but there are other possiiites, such as ost office, museum, library… I’m leaning toward both hospital and post office tho.

I feel like museum could be a 20th annivesary set becuase it holds so many references the way the hotel has.

Wow what a piece count! Hoping it’s finally a museum. Not going to lie I was slightly disappointed with this years Jazz club. Still bought it but wasn’t overly excited about it. But that piece count has me intrigued. Now for the 2-3 month wait for the announcement. What are the chances it’s a similar layout to assembly square? Or it’s really detailed?

That’s interesting because I just ordered those exact two sets from Lego and they shipped them in two separate boxes, with the GWPs being packed with the Bookshop. Not much protection in my case either though, just some paper filling. Everything in the Bookshop shipping box seemed to be fine for the most part but the Police Station box was a bit more beat up since it was the only thing in its box.

I'm glad your order came in great condition! I actually ended up getting them replaced shortly after that initial post and the Lego agent was kind enough to ensure the replacements would be shipped separately. I have already returned the initial damaged boxes (and when I peered into the Police Station in particular I realized it was worse than initially thought as the entire seal of the back of the box was actually peeled open meaning that set itself came way more open that I initially realized and yes it was at the bottom of the box below the Bookshop). And fortunately, the replacement sets came perfectly just as you described! Separately with some slight paper filling. So it ended it working in the end but yeah might end up ordering modulars one at a time moving forward lol

Just FYI, LEGO is now listing the Police Station, Assembly Square and Bookshop with a "last chance" tag on their website (at least for Australia and Europe, US doesn't seem to have the label for some reason)

If you want any of those, I would jump on them now rather than waiting.

I was sorting through my backlog the other day and realized that I only have one copy of the Police Station. I normally get a second for MOCs so something has slipped up there. I'm going to risk waiting a bit until a GWP at least. And ideally a decent cashback site offer with it. Will the gamble pay off? Who knows, but I'm willing to risk it.

I’m. Sure Assembly Square and Bookshop will be upgraded to “Last Chance” status in US eventually.

Anyways, is this set sort of anniversary? If so, what for? Boutique Hotel is the 15th anniversary set and Jazz Club is the 18th building in the modular lineup. So I wonder what’s so speical about the 2024 Modular Building set…

Maybe, they're trying something new, and all future modulars will be this big now? Because the next modular anniversary isn't until 2027.

Doubtful. They're probably doing this largely because Assembly Square is retiring and so this is just replacing it at that price point, regardless of whether it's an anniversary or not.

I don't mind an expensive piece if it is a masterpiece! Just like Rivendell!

Given the piece count, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a large, single purpose building like a hospital, school or museum.

I know Lego currently prefers Modulars to have multiple buildings / facades, etc for storytelling and street building purposes, but this high piece count really has potential for something grand and which fills a missing piece in the Modular “city”.

Spot on! This is what I’m hoping for to a detailed single building. But given the piece count, the consistency or multiple buildings and assembly square retiring I’m assuming it will be a similar multi building to cover it. I just hope it’s just as good as assembly square.

I think it makes sense that a large amount of pieces could be a replacement for Assembly Square after its retirement, like another city square wiht multi businesses.

On other hand, it also make sense that it could be a large, single-purpose building like Hospital and Museum.

So many speculations…

Oh let’ snot forget about a confirmed Modular GWP. It would make more sense if it’s ambulance for hosital. But what if the 2024 modular building set turns out to be either city square or museum? Maybe GWp won’t be a vehicle set for these two.

Maybe it’s a U-snapped hospital or museum (with a courtyard in the front) mimicking the assembly square layout across 1.5 baseplates.  It allows for one building type, but not so boxy…. Maybe parts of the U-shape are a hospital and the other part is a narrow post office or something.

Interesting idea @SFmuscle73.

Yes. I think they're trying to replicate the success of Assembly Square.

I started building Grand Emporium, that I found in a bulk lot a while ago, and it really does bring home how simple the earlier modulars were compared to now. I'm only half-way through the ground floor, but already the build experience feels basic in comparison. I did enjoy the guy with his pants down, trying on new clothes, which is a cheeky side of LEGO (pun intended), but you can certainly feel how LEGO has used modern techniques and ideas to make the build experience more fulfilling in later sets.

I also suspect that being a single-use building (and a corner one at that) doesn't help with the sense of simplicity, and that may be another reason they prefer to go for multiple buildings per modular now.

I recently got the Grand Emporium in a bulk lot. I'm not a huge fan of the earlier modulars for a variety of reasons (too clunky, out of scale, basic interior, just a bit bland compared to the more modern ones). Having said that, I wouldn't say no to any of them, but equally, wouldn't pay a lot for the older ones, unlike many others who seem to go crazy for them. I can see that you'd get an emotional attachment to them too, and that makes them even better.

I’m sorta in that boat. Cafe Corner will always be one of my favorites simply for the fact that it was first. However, I feel like Green Grocer is the perfect balance. A nice detailed ground floor that has a lot of windows & not much going on inside. I’m not big on interiors since I rarely see them after I’m done or am rearranging. I appreciate them during the build because it means does things up a bit though & there is some fun bits in there.

Same. I love the multiple buildings on a baseplate as it feels like a full street scene happening.

So can we combine the two biggest rumours, is this going to be a 4000+ piece set (making us thinking it’s more than one base plate) and it’s an inverted corner? If it is then going to be one of the most distinct Modulars, will be very interesting and different to the other sets.

Could it be a single base plate with two half plates to give it an inverted corner? I could see a Hospital on this space. A clever curved front would use the space well.
