If the main colour is olive green, any interest I had in owning the set is gone.

It’s best to reserve your judgement until we see offical images…

Seeing as they shelved the original 2023 modular in favor of the Jazz Club, it's fairly reasonable to assume they'll release it at some point.

https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-original-2023-modular-building-scrapped

Brickset has it listed that the Police Station and the Daily Bugle are both set to retire by the end of the year, along with AS and BS. Theoretically this would free up a second spot for a newspaper press... :look:

A wild guess supported by some rumors: a second modular could be relaesed next year.

Let's see.

I would not mind a second modular at all!!!

Certainly sounds promising.  Potential clash with the Parisian Restaurant colour scheme, but the Fire Brigade and Jazz Club seen fine, so hopefully it's all good. I hope that the blossom tree isn't too anemic.

I feel that the modular line could form several "streets" with certain groupings of the modulars together. For example, Corner Garage and Downtown Diner could go together. AS and Detective's go well together as well. Green Grocer, Pet Shop, Book Shop and Brick Bank form a street for me. I feel the Town hall and Fire Brigade somehow clash. Parisian Restaurant seems to be in a street all its own. LOL

As a journalist, man I hope you are right about this. Was so pissed we missed out on it to begin with, Daily Bugal does not fit the modular town astetics at all.

Never understood why they thought the Bugle would threaten a printing press modular.

Personally I hope they stick to one modular a year, they give us so many other big sets now that I want, so rather spend money on them instead of several moudulars per year. I have also run out of shelf-space for them so it would probably be another set in the box for a long time..

The other reason I could think of why they might release this in December is that there is a big/ expensive item from another theme releasing in January? Just my random guess.

If they were going to release two Modulars, why so close to each other?

The Jan 1 release never made any sense to me. I mean a modular is the perfect christmas gift for us, so why waste that potential?

I think that’s the point. So you won’t wait till Christmas and buy it in January (which normally wouldn't see that much traffic). And when Christmas rolls around, you will buy a second set

What if second modular would be 16x32? Just my wild (unlikely) guess.

I wonder if Lego did delay other sets, lie OE train and Avenger’s Tower sets?

I really don’t mind it being released on Jan 1. Nice bang to start a new year with a new modular building.

I guess Lego is hungry for money during Christmas season then, maybe that’s the reason why they want to put it on Dec 1 instead.

A question - has brick clicker actually SEEN this, and is deliberately reporting it as 2nd hand info for some reason? Or genuinely just relaying info he’s been told?

This same information has been posted in Italian, on a couple of facebook groups too, so it’s likely to be a singular origin, if it’s true, and is being repeated.  Brick clicker may be that origin, however.

As for Dec 1st, I hope not.  Means it’ll be sold out when I’ve just prepared the Mrs for an extra expensive January.

Did not sound like he have seen the picture in the YouTube video at least. It is not like he works for Lego so like most leakers he get info second hand and publish it..

So… BrickClicker mentioend there are two gray minifigures in the small garden areas on either side of staircases, didn’t he? If so, are those statutes counted as two of those 7 minifiugres?

For example, skeleton was counted as minifigure in Lion Knights’ Castle.

10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell has several gray/grey statues that I believe aren't counted as minifigures.
Also, the same may be true for the 2016 71040: Disney Castle.

So, maybe the museum modular will be similar.

Lego Online says there are 15 minifigs in the Rivendell set, so the grey statue minifigs are not counted. Brickset says there are 21 minifigs, so there they are counted.

Agreed. In my mind, there's the more civic collection - town hall, police station, fire brigade, brick bank, grand emporium - and then the more business-focused elements that blend into a seedier downtown vibe - palace cinema, jazz club, detective's office, petshop, downtown diner. Parisian Restaurant is a bit more standalone, but I put it with the civic grouping.

One day, when they're all built, I'll have the proper groupings with them all next to each other and opposite the correct ones for colour, shape, and height balance. One day...

To me it should be counted as a minifigure if it's a playable character, and not just a decoration. The statues in Rivendell are clearly decoration, so I'm with LEGO on this, not Brickset. Not that it matters much.

I hope it's not two per year. There are already enough other cool things. And inevitably the modulars have amazing Rebrickable designs, making it extremely tempting to get two of each. So four per year would be a lot!

Yes and no…

Yes, those statutes are just decorations.

No, they are STILL considered as minifigures, playable or not…. Why “Everone is Amazin” has 11 minifigures and they are considered as “decoration” rather than “playability” then? Statues, mannequins and monochrome minifigures are competely plain yet they are considered as minifigures.

But for this museum’s case, I think it makes a lot sense that two statues are not among seven minifigures. So I will go with Rivendell’s example on Lego website.

Yeah, well I will be ok with two modular ses per a year as long as not both big onesies. I mean one big one and one small (16x32), ideally.

But I will ignore Rebrickable, Marvel and Ninjago modulars myself .

They’ve released a UCS alongside a Modular in the past. It was Slave 1 & Detective’s Office.

Trust me, January 1st sees plenty of traffic for at least the last decade.

I just can’t see any reason to suddenly now change the release date. If they wanted Christmas sales out of it...why now? It’s not like they’re hard up for sales. It just doesn’t make any sense. I love olive green but on a museum? Odd choice but I’m open to it. The white pillars will definitely be striking against it. Maybe it works well with the little garden areas on either side of the steps.

per Brick Clicker:

  1. potentially release Dec 1st (take with caution)
  2. Main color is OLIVE GREEN
  3. staircase leading up to the double doors with huge white overhang behind held up by two white pillars
  4. small garden on either side of the staircase with two gray minifigs and a large blossom tree on the right
  5. two fabric banners hang from the walls with advertisements for the space and dino displays using JW Brachiosaurus for artwork
  6. Gray roof with skylights and dome in center
  7. Looks like a mix of Disney Haunted Mansion and clocktower from Back to the Future
  8. reveal later this week!

That looks interesting! Finally another wide modular! I hope they nail the architecture. Surprised how many of you dislike Olive Green given how Parisian Restaurant is probably the most loved model in the entire series. For a Natural History Museum I would have expected a building like the one in Kensington, but excited to see how it will turn out.

Most other ones I've read say 2024 too, but Brickset's description changed from 2024 to 2023 a short while ago.

I thought the same thing. It's such a classic. But recreating that texture in a retail set may have been too difficult. Looking forward to seeing what they do.

I’m definitely excited for it, the description has potential. I love olive green but it’s not what I picture a naturally history museum color to be. I trust the designers though & can’t wait to see it.

I understand that an olive green color is more earthly and Natural History Museum has some history about nature.  I like that idea but it’s hard for me to -cite what the net Modular would look like wiht that color scheme.

I have faith in the Man Upstairs and the designer team since the Modular’s they came up with always amaze me.
