Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

So both Natural History Museum and Orient Express sets will be available no Dec 1st and Avengers Tower will be avaialbe on Nov 24th, according to the Lego website.

I suspect that Lego wants to put expensive ets into market for Christmas rather than put modular building on Jan 1st release.

I think Lego is way behind on updating the shopping site, like they haven’t removed Vidiyo, Minions, Xtra, and even Creator Expert (Bookshop and Assembly Square are branded as Creator Expert) from that webpage. 

In Sweden, all three, are marked as "Last Chance".

So looks like the Assembly Square modular will be available tomorrow for 20% off, which comes to about 60 dollars discount. A good deal. Plus promos.

Finally ordered the police station before it goes out of stock. With three sets retiring in December and only the museum revealed, do you think we'll get another smaller modular in late spring/early summer 2024 or not?

Not that i know of - I heard the rumor that a hotdog truck GWP would be avaialbe in February.

I mean I do wish it’s not a GWP itself. I would like to purchase a small modular set like Vinetage Taxi and Moving Van. 

bonus point - no stickers for a small modular set *glaring at Moving Van*.

However, it won’t be likely to do that since vehicles have to be included in the big modular sets, such as Downtown Dner (with pink cardiac), Corner Garage (with tow truck) and Fire Brigade (with a fire truck). I coud see why Lego designers trying to keep the price point as low as they could if they don’t include a vehcile in a big set but will release it as a GWP.

Biggest problem with that museum needing some space, or another building next to it, is that it's using an "old" relic named baseplates, to fit in with the others of the series, which makes them somewhat incompatible with smaller sets , or make regular plates less desired due to height issues, and thus cannot align a proper connection (unless you accept an unconnected section, that's slightly higher when built on regular plates).

Interesting part however, it's not the issue of baseplates themselves either, just the fact that baseplates just don't really fall under any normal plate height. Like, i've seen "solutions" suggested , but on a micro measurement level (speaking of fractions of millimeters that are pretty much invisible but still stress parts) I wonder if there's even an official way to do it.

Maybe a way to do it is for Lego to finally come up with a 16x32 and 32x32 regular plate and people can just start building on it, and transfer all the modulars on them.

I don’t mind classic 16x32 and 32x32 baseplates. I feel like both regular plates would be more expnsive than classic baseplates?

But I would love to see a road baseplate to fit into modular buildings!

I would love this. I resorted to an off brand to get them for my modulars, and built up all black MILs plates so it's a more solid bar and looks a bit like the diorama sets. Would love official LEGO versions for the bottom on the MILS, although at this point I probably would bother changing out the old ones.

Just realised there is a new colour - warm tan/medium tan, was a skin tone for minidoll heads and is now in Brickheadz set 40616.  Maybe a future modular colour in the next few years!?

It is said that they have strict rules for this colour to only be used as skin, so I doubt that.

Who said that? They used light nougat for the Boutique Hotel after all. Anyway, i orderd 110 warm tan plates recently. Hope to use them in the next (regular) tan building i build.

I would like for them to give us enough parts in that color to create a monofig (monochrome minifig). We're still missing a hairpiece for the olive green/ dark pearl gray, and the rest of the parts for neon yellow.

Did anyone order anything for insiders weekend? And if so did you get your sets already and delivered without a carboard box with the GWP taped to a set?

That would be an impressively fast turnaround to have ordered at the weekend and had things arrive already. I placed an order at midnight on Friday. The shipping label was created on Saturday, and the carrier collected it on Monday morning. It's due to be delivered on Friday - but in the US it's Thanksgiving on Thursday, which slows things down somewhat.

@RichardGoringI did the same exact thing as soon as it hit 12am and it became the 19th. I placed my order. And it was here around 2 at my door step yesterday. just the sets, unprotected, now box to keep them safe. I found it so fast and the having the sets be without a main shipping box weird. I'm on the west coast.
