Yep, saw this too. What is the basis for this rumor? Has this changed date been posted on other fora as well?

Well that has been the usual Modular release date, and if I remember correctly, the museums release date got shifted up a month, and there was a rumour that there had been delays in another Icons set, which left a gap to fill.

Really curious why they made the release earlier last year, only to move it back to January…

For the upcoming modular, perhaps they are spacing it away from the (modular-style) X-mansion?

I was hoping the change was permanent, in order to take advantage of the Holiday season. On the other hand realeasing the new modular after Christmas has it's advantages. If, like me, you want some big Icons/Ideas set for Christmas, you'll buy one for Christmas to scratch that itch and then on January 1st you'll buy the modular. Double profit for Lego. If the modular would be released on December 1st I'd be less inclined to make a major purchase on January 1st.

That's what Brick Clicker is reporting in his video. He's usually been pretty reliable. Maybe December modular sales weren't that great and that's why they're going back to the Jan 1 release date.

I saw the video, but I was wondering if he is the only one reporting the date change or have there been other sources as well. He is usually pretty well informed but I always thought that he picked up information from other online sources for his video content.

The early release last year was supposedly down to a logistical issue with another set. It would make sense for the Modular to go back to it's "traditional" release date this year.

As far as I'm aware, the 1/12 release date was just speculation rather than a confirmed release date.

Personally, i waasn’t willing to buy Natural History Museum during Christmas season last year. I felt the price waas too much for my family to buy it for me for Christams. And I decided wait until a modular GWP was available on January 1st.  As a “modular traditionalist”, I bought NHM on January 1st.

I bought the museum last week. Was not planning to buy it in the first place . But it was at a discount for €239. So I did. I never buy on release day unless there is a cool gwp but that happened only once for me : the forrestmen hideout. And with the upcoming modular I am going to wait again for a good discount unless it's really ugly like the Jazz club. (but that's just my taste)

I’ve been trying to do this recently, as I’m a sucker for buying things straight away and not having time to build them for months/years(!) and have a backlog now. Waited all year to see if there would be a discount on the family reunion celebration 80123 as I want to mod it, only to realise it was retiring soon and on back order (in the UK anyway) so bit the bullet and ordered 2 of them last week.

Same here - Haven't planned buying NHM before Black Friday but 159 CHF was the deal I couldn't walk away. I was shocked Manor in Switzerland discounted NHM by 50% less than 1 year after launch  date!

The botanical garden has leaked. Looks like it's 64x32, two baseplates. But no modular connection points. Very modular compatible though.

It looks lovely, but if like to see it next to the other buildings, as I suspect it will look a little too large next to them?

Release date is supposed to be November 1.

I forgot the botanical garden release is November! I bought two of the friends 41757 versions and a load of pieces from pick a brick, but this looks so much better than what I put together!

Thankfully I haven’t built the Rebrickable MOC of the Friends set.

That’s understandable! I never get crazy about GWP set generally, except for modular ones. Therefore, I waited until Modular GWP was available and i bought Boutqiue Hotel and jazz Club in February (after third own release dates) and Natural history museum in Janaury (after its own release date).

If the Botanical Gardens leak is a picture from the Lego website itself (along with a Nov release date), surely the official pics are pretty much imminent. Just been building the museum, which has been enjoyable, and this looks similar. It does help I went to Kew Gardens in the late summer!

Looks like a decent minifig count too - I see 12?

I still have lots of big sets to buy (Orient Express, Jazz Club, Gorillas and a Winter Village set) so don’t mind waiting until Jan for the new modular.

For me it's hard to tell with that botanical gardens leak. The depth doesn't look like it would easily connect to other modulars and the front looks like it's so far back with a lot of space in the front for flowers. It also looks like the big flower bed in front of it extends to the sides.

Gorillas

Gorillas? Do you mean the Jungle Explorer Helicopter?

As far as 'real' modulars go: Brick Cross Station also will be shipped in a couple of weeks to those who pre-ordered. The last modular compatible building from the BDP...

Sad to see the modular is reverting back to January 1.  This would either mean staying up and risking an overloaded website on New Year's Eve or being there two hours early to the Lego Store the next day.  I did not really miss that experience last year.  Hopefully they at least retain the preorder option.

Is this confirmed ?

I swear he got dates mixed up before

Hence 'pretty' reliable. Yes, there have been errors in the past. And, especially with LEGO exclusives, they can change things if they want to.
