What announcement? You mean the one based on speculation and wishful thinking?

It seemed a reasonable possibility based on the event listed on this month's shop calendar for 6 Oct., or at least more reasonable possibility than announcing an announcement of something we'd already seen (which is what happened).

Is it possible that the new modular won't be out until March or April? Because if we look back to the previous modular set, most of them released around those months.

Beside, just only mini modular set and Parisian Restaurant that release on January.

Maybe when the calendar was created (they show up online more than a month in advance) it wasn't known for sure that they'd be ready to unveil the UCS set at Brickcon, which would require getting a completed one to Seattle, but were certain they could post it on FB (from Billund) on the Monday.

Also, the event isn't an official LEGO event, but rather put on by the SeaLUG. There must have been a decision somewhere after the calendar was created to do the reveal there. Besides, not everybody follows EB religiously and saw the set before Monday...

I'm sure we'll get the Modular unveil in November. We knew there was a (rumored) Tumbler UCS and a Slave I UCS in development months ago, but the Modular rumors pointing at the Detective Agency are relatively new.

Definitely that all makes sense, and I didn't mean to criticize LEGO for any of that. I only meant that speculating whether we might see a modular this week was based on the little bit of info we had, and that it had at the time seemed to me more likely after Brickcon (and the main LEGO facebook and youtube channels also) already revealing the Slave I.

Maybe. With the PR we had solid information months before the reveal. Looking back through this thread and the Internet in general, all I can see is rumor piled on top of speculation on top of wishful thinking. With that said, and given January first will mark one year since the release of the last modular, it might not be unreasonable to speculate that a new modular reveal is imminent. But, unlike the pre reveal info we got on the PR, we don't have anything approaching what we had months before the PR release. And all this talk about the lego calendar and what they are thinking, well, it's fun and entertaining to spin this speculation.......but probably of little value.

Or we could wildly speculate on the 2016 modular;

Hey did you hear the new modular is a slaughterhouse? With new tiles printed with blood splashes, a butchers van and a new mould of a cow that's been cut in half?

Maybe not....

Granted, speculation is fun. Go back in this thread and on the Internet and look at when GRogall broke the news on the PR. That will give you some idea of past time frames on reliable rumors and reveals.

Regards, all.......

I think if the natural history museum on Lego Ideas does hit 10K votes, then we will see that one in 2016, people like it a lot. GRogall hasn't been seen in a long time, so hope they are doing ok and nothing bad happened.

My guess is the reveal will be on the aforementioned Nov 21 date, and be sold in March/April timeframe. 2016 will be the museum and 2017 for a hospital. I will always maintain that we need more sets targeted to AFOL's like Architecture and Modular...I would like 6 arch sets and 2 modular each year but my collection is targeted to these 2 lines with a few other sets sprinkled in there from the other lines. A hospital for 2017 could be similar size to the Town Hall.

Does anyone have some insight on how well the modulars sold in comparison to each other? If the PR sold really well, then that is the market telling LEGO what it likes.

The best info I have is this poll that we ran on the Lego thread of hardware.fr forum to know which modular building people bought:

Last poll result is the generic one for those who won't/can't vote another, so the results can be considered as statistics of approximately 200 people (mostly French) owning at least one modular building.

As seen there, the Palace Cinema is the most owned one.

We could run the same kind of poll here on Eurobricks, if such multiple-choice poll is possible.

Not sure if this was already posted. Jamie held a presentation/workshop during the Lego Fan Weekend; while the presentation was devoted to 10244 Fairground Mixer, he did mention one tidbit regarding the modulars - the next five modulars have already been decided and approved. So, the line is quite safe for at least 5 years into the future.

I also heard from other sources that Jamie had been promoted to a management position and so he won't be doing as much design in the future as he used to.

Good news to know the next 5 are there, too bad Jamie didn't politely say what they were...but I would think if one is not a museum, that if the natural history one gets to 10K, then it will be very interesting to see how that might change or if they really would pop 2 modular in a year. I think if they did one in January and then one in say August, it would work.

Wow, I wish I could break into Lego Headquarters and find out what they are. So they already decided the next five so we probably won't now the last one is until the year 2020.

But did he say for five years or did you extrapolate that? Because it is hard to believe they would lock down designs this far out. It might mean more than one modular in a year though.
