JDW Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Hope that news is true! A barber shop is even more exciting to me than the detective agency! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Because of the supposed alley inbetween the two buildings? Hmm, that would mean that the buildings are very narrow and you need space to have a pool table. Quote
Paperballpark Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Maybe the pool table is upstairs? Maybe the top floor is a snooker club or something similar. Pure conjecture... Quote
Off the wall Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 With those colours the trend of Disneylandisation of the modular series continues. It's a shame because buildings like that aren't very useful in a realistic layout. Exactly! But, in my opinion, we are in the minority. Quote
DD840 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 10 more days until possible pictures? Colour can nice depending on the design, as long as it isn't too bright or kiddie. Quote
ronenson Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Sounds like at least half of it can be used as a replacement market street Quote
Off the wall Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Sounds like at least half of it can be used as a replacement market street Interesting. How would that work? Thanks! Quote
ItsaBRICKS Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Interesting. How would that work? Thanks! If the Barbershop is truly dark blue and medium blue, maybe they will be the same colors as Market Street, allowing people who are trying to assemble that set brick by brick to buy a Detective Agency to get a lot of the pieces. Probably only the dark blue could potentially be useful though because MS is light and dark blue, not medium. Quote
jonwil Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Bricklink lists the blue parts in the Market Street as "medium blue" and "dark blue". LEGO calls the same colors "medium blue" and "earth blue" Quote
Regimus Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 (edited) Who was it that called BS again?!!! Edited November 13, 2014 by Regimus Quote
Off the wall Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Who was it that called BS again?!!! Well, come to think of it.....and they did it without a multiple paragraph post allegedly outlining TLGs secret marketing, sales and distribution plans and strategy. Quote
Sir Gareth Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Maybe the pool table is upstairs? Maybe the top floor is a snooker club or something similar. Pure conjecture... Maybe the pool table is inside the barbershop? My old barber had one. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Now barbershops in Oz back in the 40's/50's also sold tobacco products......but I guess Lego would skip that. Quote
Jern92 Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I'm assuming: - ground floor with barber shop, alley, and stairs to the first floor - first floor with detective agency - second floor with an apartment with the pool table Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 So it's guessing game time again, the best idea is to think 1940's Dick Tracy and you might have the answer. Quote
Herky Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 sorry, but that sounds like the oddest 2 buildings/1 modular I would ever think of, a detective agency and a barber shop with a pool table in there somewhere with an alley...if you held a contest a year ago on the likelihood of the next modular, there is 1 in a billion chance anyone would put that combo together. Will certainly be interesting to see this thing hopefully next week. I am almost scared at this point, I don't even want to speculate on what they have created. I say put some shag carpeting in there somewhere, why not? quick question though, how many apartments does this make in the modular series? I think it is 5 or 6 now, which makes sense, have to give them places to live, but holding out hope we get a brownstone type of modular in the series for a real living space at least it's not another corner although I think next year might be, can't remember the pattern someone put out and too lazy to go back through all the pages to find it Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I wonder how Lego chose what to produce next ? After a long lunch ? Maybe they should ask us for a change......like yeah if that would ever happen ? Quote
Herky Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 well there have been some great ideas here and great MOC's too, the Ideas site does have some great MOC's...I would say we are not the total audience, but if they wanted to take a good measure, this thread and site would be a great place to start to get an all around opinion from several countries/age ranges/wallets at once...good companies will listen to their customers Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Ah, but many of us don't have a degree in industrial design to design Lego sets. It's the main requirement to work as a Lego designer which I feel is the reason behind some of the awesome hits and so-so misses they have created. Quote
Jern92 Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Diggydoes: The agency is on top of the bar Taken from Brickset So there's a bar now? Quote
7360 Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 (edited) Hi all, I am a newly minted AFOL - If being an AFOL means buying Lego sets more for my own pleasure than for my kids and using them as an excuse (oops) I have been buying lego sets for my kids since 4 years ago (circa Minifigure Series 2). Wasn’t really paying attention to modular back then (regret, regret, regret!!) loved PR when it came out but didn’t buy it and the turning point in becoming an AFOL was probably finding a good deal for GE a month ago. Well a single modular looks lonely so within a week, I have gotten PS, PC and PR as well and can’t wait to see what’s next. Now, I look at sets and minifigures differently. What parts/figure can I use to enhance the modular sets. Here’s my guess on BS & DA. Could the alleyway be a covered arch alleyway that allows access to the backstreet of the modular? So while the ground floor is split, the 2nd floor has a ‘full’ area Edited November 13, 2014 by 7360 Quote

lightningtiger Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 A bar would make sense with a pool table.......I feel it's heading towards US style modulars now. Quote

That would be great. The possibility of combining multiple modular brownstones is very appealing to me. Quote
