rollermonkey Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I cannot see the Quik-E-Mart as a modular type building, as it's only one story, and since Moe's, Quick-e-Mart and the school are really some of the only buildings that have been used anything close to as much as the Simpson's house itself, I think the Simpson's line may be over a lot sooner than most lines. The Simpson's CMF line on the other hand could go for a decade and only scratch the surface of that potential pool... Quote
rockethead26 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Now that would be an awesome idea. A full 32x32 modular in Jan and a 16x32 modular in June. They could releases houses and such for $75.00-$100.00 each. Imagine how many people would buy them if they were cheap to flesh out blocks. Agreed! That would make for an excellent series with more variability. Quote
stevkir Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Do LEGO employees that make decisions actually read this forum? Just wondering if they come on here to see what the fans of their product are saying and get ideas from what they say here. Quote
Inzane Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 My wallet can't handle an increased frequency of new modular set releases. Quote
rollermonkey Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 ^^Probably not, but there may be market research types that do and compile reports for the higher ups. Quote
stevkir Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 My wallet can't handle an increased frequency of new modular set releases. Neither can mine. But I think it would be great to have the opportunity to have smaller 16x32 plate sized sets at the cheaper price point. Smaller sets gives a better variety to the look of them once they are connected and more of a real city feel. It would be a way LEGO can market Modulars to more people that usually wouldn't buy them because of the higher price. Quote
LegoSjaak Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Here are all current 9 Modular buildings in one street......three of them are Modded to XL versions..... Quote
Super Goblin Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) I would love it if they would release some 16x32 modulars. Edited March 21, 2014 by Super Goblin Quote
Boettner Builds Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 16x32 "painted ladies" of San Francisco! Quote
LegoSjaak Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) The Pet Shop "are" in fact 2 16x32 modulars.... i also use them to fill holes or to play with the layout....I would love to see an inverted corner-building.............!! Edited March 22, 2014 by LegoSjaak Quote
TheLegoDr Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 ^I was originally building an inverted (L shaped corner) Cafe Corner, but tore it apart because it didn't fit on my shelf properly. But it was looking really neat! Quote
rollermonkey Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I never quite understood the fascination many AFOLs have with these, but having just set the second level on my GE, I'm definitely understanding it now. They really do look pretty fantastic in your own hands. At least I have some catching up to do before I run into the problem of having to wait for the next year's set. (Not too much though, what with FB arriving tomorrow and only one BL order left to be invoiced on my GG. TH will be an April 1st buy for double points, which will get my balance to over 1000 points towards a suddenly very affordable PS.) I ought to be caught up by Summer at that rate. Quote
Laphroag Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I decided to go for town hall based on the rumors it will be next to get discontinued. I base my decision on my personal opinion that I can totally see both GE and PS selling better and be more popular. If they do however pull GE first it seems to me that it will be easily available outside Lego stores for a good amount of time due to it's popularity. Quote
3BrickFriends Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I hate to re-start the speculation on the Town Hall retirement, but I've just received the Lego Easter catalogue and on page 17 is a picture (copied below) of the Palace Cinema and Parisian Restaurant, sitting next to the Town Hall. They wouldn't continue to put the TH in marketing/sales pictures if they planned to retire it. No sign of the Pet Shop or Grand Emporium. Quote
rollermonkey Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 If it's a slow seller, they absolutely would put it in advertising no matter the retirement plans. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 It would appear that some people are taking the threat of a sudden retirement of TH to heart. It is out of stock for 30 days on the US S&H site. This kind of surprised me, because I figured people would at least wait until April 1 (double points for VIP) to buy it. I have to wait anyway, because that is the next paycheck. Although TH is pictured next to the more recent two buildings, that alone would not guarantee it is going to be around for an indefinite amount of time. My guess is that it will be around for at least a little while longer. Quote
rollermonkey Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Picked up the Modular Town Hall, (double-point promotion!) and the manager sought me ought to say she was glad to see me picking it up before it retires. At this point, if PS goes first, I'll be pretty much shocked. Quote
badbob001 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 A building (library?) with brick-built lions in the front would go well with the Ghostbusters set, but I would probably not like a set that was all white or gray. It may work if it were done as one of two 16x32 buildings like the Pet Shop set. Quote
polarscribe Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 It would be pretty much impossible to do anything resembling a decent library in 16x32, though. I hope that if they do a library, it's 32x32. Quote
Faefrost Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 One other thing to keep in mind. If TH is retiring, it has a good number of bricks in unique colors. Particularly the dark orange. Quote

I SO would buy one in 32x32. Even if it wasn't up to my standards, it would be an awesome starting point! Also, I'm going to be picking up the Monsters Fighters Haunted House this weekend for double VIP points. I just might squeeze another Modular in with this, not sure which one. I already have TH & GE. Any suggestions from you guys? Quote
rollermonkey Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 PS would be the next likely to retire if it isn't either of those... Quote

Yes, I bought one for parts when it was once discounted on Amazon; I like the dark orange. I regret so much not having done that for the Green Grocer a few years ago when I had the opportunity. sithewok Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Well, I went on a bit of a spending spree with the double VIP points and ordered Town Hall, Pet Shop, and Grand Emporium. So whichever one is retired next, I'm covered. I just wish I hadn't come on board the Lego train so late, missing some really good modulars. Quote
