TheLegoDr Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I tend to just stare at my Modulars also. They look so nice on the shelf. Although I do take them down quite a bit to look at the interior/rear facade. And sometimes I'll let the little one play with it. She has lots of fun, although I think she'd get better use if they were open backed. But she doesn't seem too annoyed at taking the levels off. As far as PC. I just got it and will open it near Christmas, so I don't have any complaints about it. Although the first time I saw it, I didn't like it at all. The more I looked at it, the more I became interested. Yes, the car still is horrible, but I will MOD that. I had considered doing a nice Art Deco theater, but there is something fun about this Chinese theater, so I may keep it like this. Quote
ItsaBRICKS Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I display mine all on a shelf. PS is back in stock on US Shop @ Home. Quote
Blakstone Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I just display my modulars as well. I have a notion of making seasonal updates, but that has been very minimal so far. Around Halloween, I added some jack o'lantern minifigure heads on the wrought iron fence for the residential townhouse (from the PS). When that came down, I also removed the garbage truck and armored cars from the front and replaced it with last year's Christmas tree delivery truck. The only other regular updates are changing the minifigures on the sidewalk. I replaced some plain dark gray studless plates with an offset version so minifigs can stand on the sidewalk. Each CMF series, I update who is on the sidewalk. Quote
Colossus Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Intriguing discussion about what to do with modulars. I have them kinda scattered around the house. Some I consider seasonal, such as my Christmas-ized Emporium with the Winter Village Cottage, so they are in the main play space for the kids presently. While I realize the Haunted House is not a true modular, my kids thought it did a fine job as a stand-in for the creepy house at the end or the street for Halloween. The PC I usually have out in the summer for our blockbuster movie releases. The Mixer, while not a modular at all, is a no-brainer for Summertime display. Moving the modulars and whatnot in and out of circulation keeps the playability fresh. Your mileage may vary. Quote
Lego Conductor Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Time for rampant speculation to commence! 2016 Modular: Corner Police Precinct!! Quote
mrdo Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Looking forward to this one. I love this series. I agree with "Knight" , it needs a detective car. I guess we'll be putting our own with it. oops.....not "Knight " but EROL........is that correct? Quote
tomdobs55 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Time for rampant speculation to commence! 2016 Modular: Corner Police Precinct!! I doubt it would be a police precient, the Detective Office pretty much has that. I honestly don't know what the next one could be. It seems like Jamie wants to go story driven, and I'm not sure what the next building could be. Maybe a bakery with an apartment upstairs that has a child's birthday going on and needs a cake. Who knows! Quote
eurotrash Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I really enjoy the build itself. It's a pleasure seeing the little design touches that Jamie and the team have incorporated and I always learn new techniques. Having said that the Sets get displayed in a haphazard way in my Lego room. Then, after some time, they'll get MOCed (like my Palace Carpets) or MODded (like my Architectural Salvage Company) or Inventory'ed into circulation again. I can see me, at some point, rebuilding them back into their original form, but, again, they won't last. Time for rampant speculation to commence! 2016 Modular: Corner Police Precinct!! I thinking General Merchants store, but I'd prefer something outside of the Western European/North American themed buildings we've had so far. I'd ask TLG to be bold in their next choice. Quote
Jern92 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I acquired all my Modulars this year (except CC, MS and GG), and recently finished building the final one. Now I'm trying to place them into a proper town-ish layout. Need lots of extra parts for roads, squares, plants etc, and just can't afford them at the moment, so lots of blanks in my layout. Quote
pirzyk Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I have my modulars in a layout with my trains. I am constantly in a state of re-arranging the layout and tweaking the sets themselves. I just added the gold lattice to the PC today and thinking of how to do the Stadium seating inside (both really good ideas). I have planned on where the DO is going to go, next to my GE, across the street from my Bike Shop (PS mod). Quote
melbs Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 so lego tells my cousin: "Thanks for getting in touch with us. I’m sorry but we aren’t making the 10224 Town Hall any more. Most times an item that has sold out will not be back in inventory. I know this was not what you wanted to hear, and I am sorry for any disappointment this has caused you. Our Product Developers in Denmark invent new LEGO® toys every year. They spend their time trying to find new and fun toys that are better every time. The shelves in toy shops aren’t big enough to hold everything so sometimes we have to stop making a few of the older sets. I hope one of our many new LEGO toys will inspire you. Wookiee Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I just picked up TH,PC and PS, I only have a couple others and one brick depot one ,those i have kept as is but since i am in to cinema (i have one here in my house i am going to mod the PC as it really is crud in terms of a cinema, The fact it has windows in the viewing room really annoys me as well as the lack of seats (i have seven recliners in mine and that at a house) i think i will go along the lines of an earlier post and not make it a corner and make it most of the upper level with stadium style seating.,add speakers and wall sconces to the side walls etc. Detective agency i will pick up in January and i am slowly brick linking market street and blue grocer with cafe corner to be last as i am a completest. Not really into the back story of the detective agency but the building is ok. The next Modular i would not mind being a newspaper publisher with reporters and printing press etc. I don't think we will get a police station next. Quote

Herky Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 thanks all for confirming I am somewhat normal in my display only ways, shows I am not totally insane, about Lego anyway, hahaha, I wish I had more table space and could display more stuff as for next year Modular, I would like a museum, a brownstone residence building, a hospital, a hardware store or some kind of sports themed building, let the speculation begin! Herky Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 oh it's true, even for us just build it and leave it alone type of folks, cause TLG comes out with those little sets that just look cool on the block, like a balloon vendor or a hot dog cart or something like that, so you have to get those to add to the nuance of a busy, fun block...even if you do it once and leave it alone Quote

Over here in NZ we seem to have been out of that for months now, but there are still TH's around in toy stores. With regard to speculation about new modulars, I'd love to have a corner bookstore. :D Edited November 25, 2014 by Jern92 Quote

Faefrost Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 You're probably going to like January's giveaway then. An FBI "Party Van" to go along with the Detectives Office bootleggers? Maybe a CSI scene of murder and mayhem? Rocco and Vinnie shaking down a pushcart pretzel pusher for protection? What? Nobody else's modular cities have scenes like this? Bah! You people are boring. Proper Lego urban planning should resemble Mickey Spillaine helping Frank Miller write Batman... While drunk. Quote

How cool would it be to have cannons in a modular? Or a "Medieval times" type place? Quote
