Jipay Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Well i would have liked the copter, but i'm sure I can do better than thiswith my bricks *twisted* Quote
The Middleman Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 I have come to the conclusion that what makes them so horrible is that they're not detailed enough. Just a lot of big blocks. You guys in Europe are lucky, not getting this crap. Quote
Jipay Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 well yeah + our kids can buy the vikings everywhere. And anothe rpoint is that you will learn how it feels to buy all the set at full price :-D There is finally a justice :P *twisted* Quote
The Middleman Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 Myself, I've actually NEVER gotten a set on discount, and I ALMOST never get anything in stores anyway. So it's not about Vikings being full price or not in stores at all; it's about 'DINO Attack' touching American soil. Although, it would've been nice to pick up some Viking longboats at half-off for my fleet. ;) Quote
Jipay Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 Well ive never experienced that much reduced sets aswell. All the tricks I use (ebay, Canadian shop at home) mostly end up as pain in the megablocks. The american custom pick up randomly packages and make the guys pay the taxes : with my overwhelming luck, I've been caught already two times, so with taxes + shipping, I could have found cheaper on bricklink ^^ But fortunatly some great deals appear sometimes. Anyway, I still prefer to pay full time than waiting for the set to go on clearance :-D Quote
jedijeff Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 too bad I live in the USA i would like the vikings better then the DINOS :( Quote

yoda601 Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 I would have liked a few of those guns and those torsos, not to mention the Hummer and the Helicopter... Damn you, TLC, damn you! Quote

I still prefer to pay it full price than not having the set at all. Furtheremore, great deals only appear on large and expensive sets (and rarely on Star Wars sets!!!!). Oh well, I'll see this fall how lucky I am (or NOT!!!!!). Quote

Then if there are still sets you want you can go to Toy's aRen't Us or just buy them from S@H. The sets can be found for more than a year. Quote

Jipay Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 Well France sucks for clearance and that's it :-D Due to the law that doesn't allow retailers to sell the goods for less than the price they paid for it, when we have sales, it's not that much. And Clearance on toys in france aren't usual :( Quote

Yep!!! and I won't mention the price of CDs, DVDs, gas *devil* ... Oh well!! At least we have a great Lego store (great fo Paris, because I guess frenchmen are not great Lego builders & collecters) which has the sets pretty early. Quote

-DJ- Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I thought this was a topic about the DINO attack theme.... Anyway, I agree with many of you, in that I think this theme is pretty bad. The vikings are good, not as great as many thought they would be, but the real theme I like in 2005 is KK2, it hasn't changed much, and Vladek's fortress looks great. Sure some of the stuff is good in this line, but the dinos make the sets to costly to be worth purchase. Quote
DoubleT Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Well sometimes -DJ- things goes alittle off topic here, but by some strange way it always gets back to topic.. But I agree with you KK2 and Vikings are really nice, but I cant comment on the Dino set, havent really seen anything off it.... Only Bad pics of Prototype sets... And I really dont care about the Dino's theme, and its not because im European ;) Quote
The Middleman Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I was surprised to learn that Vladek's Fortress is actually THE largest LEGO castle ever in terms of pieces. I'll probably buy it, with that title attached to it. But I think Vikings really do steal the show this year. :-D Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Sorry guys for the off topic!!! Bottom line who actually cares about the crappy dino line who is intended for kids anyway. Furthermore lets see how the real line will look like. The new KK looks pretty cool (lots of black elements and cool weapons!). I'm not a huge KK2 fan but I might get a few sets for the elements!!! Bricks0937 Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 I still think the D.I.N.O. is pretty sweet. (even though i was hoping for a Caveman sort of theme.) :( Quote
