snefroe Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 i wonder who's responsable for taking the decision to release this or that theme. Obviously the TLC board makes the decision official but who tells the designers to create the sets? And what are the arguments behind those decisions? Does anybody know? what do the 10 - 12 year olds think of the Dino theme? Cause, i'm adult, i think most of us are, and most of us don't like the theme, but perhaps the younger people will love it, for whatever reason! Quote
Jipay Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Well usually in all the industry, the R and D comes with many ideas, usually too many to release those into the market. And then the board decide which ones to release. Quote
David85 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I'm an Adult, I like the idea of Lego Dinosaurs, but these are crap. With a little help and the old Dinos this theme could have been a great continuation of the Adventure theme. Help Johnny Thunder protect Legoland from the Dinosaurs!!! But no we got this shit. Quote
sam89 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Maybe these sets look bad to us (well some of us ;)), but children will probably really like them. They probably won't care whether the dinosaurs are built out of Lego or not. Quote
David85 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I don't care if the Dinos are biult out of Legos or not, there is nothing to this theme through. If there was some base, and some transport things and something to put the dinos in fine, but these are just shit and I do believe kids will see that too. Quote
snefroe Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Adult lego fans normally look for different qualities in sets. we give priority to quality, very often complex designs with great potential to build other things, to customise designs... we normally don't PLAY with these sets. children look first for playability. they're probably very impressed by the dinosaurs, we, on the other hand, look immediately to the helicopter, and the tank, and we say "awful" design. children will love it, because they can PLAY with it! TLC never intended to sell this theme to us, coincidently, the end product will not appeal to us. my theory is that TLC doesn't really know what to do with us, adult fans. There is no "adult" theme, at best there are some adult sets, like the star destroyer. unfortunately, as soon as minifigs are involved, we seem to think that TLC has made those sets especially for us. That's not the case, as this dino-theme clearly shows... Quote
David85 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I am a big kid, I understand all that Lego stuff, but still this is shit. I'm one of the few who LIKES the colored knights and think they are great for kids. These on the other hand are just lame. The only set I can see being sold well id the helicopter because of the missle launcher. Quote
The Middleman Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I'm 14, so pretty close, and I would never buy this garbage. Quote
languages Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I agree. I would never buy this crap. Its the second worst theme ever. (first being knights kingdom) Bring back the proper lego pieces like yellow faces and normall lightsabers. Why do Lego do such horrible things to us lego builders? Quote

Jipay Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 ahhh great :D I start to hate lightup ! The light up minifigs are useless... I much prefer the light up system that are used to light up ships and stuff like that *wacko* Quote
jonfett Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I would not be suprised if they also: - fire water - sing songs - change colour in the heat - have wheels - fly using remote control ... Jon. Quote
