Assassin Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Just a few observations. 1) - That ain't no tank - mobile self-propelled thingie maybe, but definitely not a tank. 2) - The buggy - nothing special about that, the dino looks like someone puked on it. 3) - The small buggy (sprinter) - can't even see any usable parts there - no comment re the "dino" ? 4) - The Hummer ? - yeah, right - looks like it must be at least 12 feet tall if not more when you take the gun into account and as for the dino's, if you fed the purple one at least Fred Flinstone would feel at home. 5) - The Helicopter - ignoring the dino, this is about the only semi-decent model, but it still reminds me of something from GI Joe, so I guess it might appeal to the kids, but you can bet that the price won't appeal to the parents ! ! ! As a finale to this post ? at least that's 5 sets I don't have to find money for. Quote
jonfett Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I wish that the dinos could have been built like this. These look like any toy except Lego :/ Jon. Quote
Dark_Avenger Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I'm gonna get the cheapest set available so I have the only cool thing in the entire line: the torso. The vehicles are a let-down, the dinos are atrocious, but I think the minifig designs are Quote
Wolf04 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I wish that the dinos could have been built like this. These look like any toy except Lego :/Jon. If they made a dino similar to the one in set 4507 Prehistoric Creatures plus 6-wide Hummers (not 12) and a helicopter similar to the newest rescue one from City, that would be great. It would also be cool if this theme would be set in the city like in Jurassic Park II, so we could have cracked roadplates or destroyed buildings. Fine set it int he future, with 4-thread tanks, but make them realisitic. The tank is way too open. If carefully planned, this theme could have been a great hit. PS: The tank is not actually a tank anyway. There is no mention of Lego calling it a tank. Quote
MattZitron Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I said it before, its like Godzilla. I think kids will like these, and they're unusual. I don't want the same old Lego sets, and these are a little bit off kilter. and the Dinos, well, they're badly coloured, but until I have one in my hand we'll wait and see. And I say now, if you buy a set and don't want the dino, I'll buy it! Quote

That Helicopter is very cool... and I think if they made it kind of like 7044, it would be really cool. Probably bigger so it has a back area(One of the only cool things about the current chopper design). A WAY smaller hummer would be really cool. AN actualy ARMOURED VEHICLE for a tank would be very neat, but again, i doubt that will happen. I give up on 2005 for Lego. 2006 is only 10 monthes away. Quote

In defense of the "tank" it is just like the weapon they used to beat (i think the first time) Hedorah, in Japanese monster movies. So thus its won be over. I like the vietnam style gun port in the chopper as well. Quote
Orlego Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 Man, I really have to say these sets look like dog shit. I never really liked the Adventures line but next to this new theme the Adventures are the best Lego theme ever. What is up with the horrible one piece dinos? Why is the helicopter and hummer so large? The vehicles, except for the ATV, are the size of the new mine truck. Why make sets that can't be used with other themes such as city. Everyone talks about kids playability but these sets playability are decreased because they are way too large to use with other themes. What happened to Lego caring about the minifig scale? Quote
Jipay Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 Well different products for different tastes :) Honestly, I have already too many sets to buy for this year so it's ok this theme is what it is. hopefully it will bring some Megablocks fan back into lego *satis* Quote
Aeturnus Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 I spoke to a lego rep today and supposedly the dino attack is in toyworld stores here in New Zealand now if not in the next week or two. Quote
Assassin Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 Hey Aeturnus, just checked and saw you live in Auckland, you have my deepest commiserations. Try moving down country to a decent spot (Wellington) Quote
Aeturnus Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 Hello Assasin,Wellington is a great city.Ive spent alot of time partying there.New Zealand is a hole..new smoking laws have killed all the nightlife everywhere. Quote
Bricks0937 Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 to be honest, I like the new D.I.N.O sets. i was hoping the dino rumors would be a caveman theme, but these do just fine. For one, theres alot of pieces i could use for custom creations. and although the dinosuars are one or two pieces, they're a hell of alot better than the ones LEGO came up with for the Jurassic Park sets. So i guess, Me and MattZitron are some of the only ones buying the new D.I.N.O. sets. :D Quote

mahjqa Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 Fo'shizzle, yo. (I will only acquire these sets on at least 50% clearance, after which I will ritually burn the dino's.) Quote
jedijeff Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 does anyone know when they will be out in stores? :/ Quote
David85 Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 does anyone know when they will be out in stores? :/ We are all still hoping for "never". :) Quote
MattZitron Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 does anyone know when they will be out in stores? :/ We are all still hoping for "never". :) I ain't. I'm gonna buy ALL the sets and before I make them I'm gonna roll around naked on the pieces. HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA By the way, have you noticed that the figures use the same torso that the BARC Speeder pilot has? Quote
