tkatt Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 This is my first post forgive me if it is in the wrong place, or if the photos don't load properly, or if it is simply not interesting. This last weekend at the Mall of America here in Minnesota, there was a LEGO takeover. They were heavily promoting the Chima, Friends, and TMNT product lines. The freebies were nice and the event was pretty fun (for my kids). One thing that caught my attention was in the Friends polybag. An apron that is essentially a forward facing cape for the minidolls. It is the same type of material as the capes. The neck holes only fit the minidolls but regular minifigures can wear it if you use certain wigs to hold the neck staps to their backs. More pictures here! Quote
CM4Sci Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I really wanted to go, I only live 20 minutes away! That stuff looks great! -Sci Quote
Jargo Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I thought the neck posts on minidolls were the same diameter as minifig neck posts? Won't the loops of the apron fit over the neck post of a minifig? Quote

Won't the loops of the apron fit over the neck post of a minifig? No, they are way smaller. That's why, for instance, you cannot fit a Friends head on a regular minifig. So the apron isn't really that useful if you collect regular minifigures, unfortunately. Quote

just2good Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I'm sure the Friends one is the one being given out on August 1st at the LEGO Store and the Chima on is the one coming late August at the LEGO Store, as said on the calender. Loving that apron, though! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 If the Friends set is the Ice Cream stand, then no, it doesn't have the apron in it. I bought a few of that set back around Easter at Target. So I would presume there is a completely different Friends set that was at Mall of America to acquire that apron. Quote

No, it's not the Ice Cream Stand, the Friends giveaway polybag at the event has no barcode or traditional set number on it. The only id number is ITEM: 6043173 which I assume is a LEGO internal tracking number. I didn't find any reference to said number on Brickset, I never tried Bricklink. Comparing the appearance of the polybag itself (printing, numbers or lack thereof etc) to 'regular' poly's I assume (guess, surmise, speculate) that this poly was designed specifically as a giveaway. I have yet to decide whether or not to open it for the parts or keep it sealed. Quote
