lightningtiger Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) Yeah, so why has Robin got short legs ? Edit - So it's a different Robin.....but those legs are used for children and Yoda among a few others like dwarves. Edited November 21, 2013 by lightningtiger Quote
korpen4444 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 The short robin is damien wayne. not jason todd. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 It seems to be based on Damian Wayne, and he is only about ten years old, so that's probably why. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Thanks to Wikipedia, he's Batman's son who end's up in Teen Titan's but dies battling an adult clone of himself.....okay. Now will the average KOLF know this that's question to understand why this Robin has short legs ? Quote
RaincloudDustbin Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Loving the Damian Wayne and SteamRoller! Quote
strangely Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I'm more than a little confused as to why the Batwing folds up like that. That seems to serve little to no purpose. Well at least it gives some useful pieces if anything else. The steamroller is awesome. Great colors, great pieces and great design. But of course the real reason to get this set is the minifigures. Damian Wayne and Batgirl are top notch and definitely the better looking minifigures this wave. Joker and his henchman wasn't needed, but at least are good enough to be worthwhile. I'm disappointed they didn't use this as an opportunity to give us a new 52 Batman (As a lot of the new figures seem to be drawing inspiration from it). The Penguin set looks awesome other than I think Batman and his Jet-ski are a wasted variation and a wasted vehicle. But that new Penguin is so good looking I can overlook it. The Riddler chase is fine, but definitely could have used another round of revisions before hitting the shelves. Riddler's vehicle and outfit is good looking, but misguided since it relates in little to no way to what Riddler would actually wear and ride. I'm more used to the Batmobile now, though it's still not the variation I wanted. Quote
Captain Nemo Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Awww...it's just meh. I hoped it would be the best set, since it is the most "original" out of this wave. The Roller is nice, though I think it could just a bit more color, just a bit. New print Joker is cool, and cool enough I don't mind getting another Joker; his henchman is nice too, though limited in use-ability. I love Batgirl's new purple cape, but I'm not a fan of the 52 designs on her or anyone (Though with the new mold I bet we'll get a classic version eventually). Black Batman is ok; and I figure they are using him so much since that is his apperance in the Lego Movie, and so they want some cross-overs on the shelf. I'm not a fan of Damian at all however. Short legs; bad character. I like the return of yellow capes (Granted they're short), but...man, I don't need more Robins. I'm sad we didn't get a new villain for this set...come on Lego give us what we want...Killer Moth. The Bat-plane is...strange...to say the least. It's ugly , no doubt, but it's turn wings ability is terrible. Really...really that's a good idea Batman? Let's swing the wings together to catch the bad guy, then fall from the sky because we don't have wings anymore. Quote
Sam892 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Well, Batcave (juniors) Robin appears to be Dick Grayson, the short Robin is Jason Todd, and the other two are variations of Tim Drake, which I admit, did take up slots for other useful minifigs. The short Robin is Damian Wayne, not Jason Todd. Damian is the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al ghul, he was raised by the League of Shadows to become an assassin. however after meeting Batman he becomes the fifth Robin. Yeah, so why has Robin got short legs ? Edit - So it's a different Robin.....but those legs are used for children and Yoda among a few others like dwarves. Damian has short legs as he is only around 10 or 11 years old in the comics. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 The short robin is damien wayne. not jason todd. Did I say Jason Todd? My bad, I was reading a red hood comic while commenting, but trust me I know my stuff, that was embarrassing, but I won't edit it.... ugh the embarrassment Quote
Clone OPatra Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 The Bat-plane is...strange...to say the least. It's ugly , no doubt, but it's turn wings ability is terrible. Really...really that's a good idea Batman? Let's swing the wings together to catch the bad guy, then fall from the sky because we don't have wings anymore. It almost looks like it should have wheels on the bottom and convert into a Bat-dragster. It looks like a dragster to me in folded mode. That would actually be cool - drive along and then pop convert into a plane.I don't think the actual set has wheels, though, so it is strange. Quote
Oky Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Ugh. I can't even express how little interest I have in that steamroller set. I was really hoping that the final design would win me over, but it's just a big disappointment. Aside from Batgirl, none of the figs are truly new or particularly interesting, except maybe the henchman, but he's too scene-specific. The steamroller is OK, but not very versatile. I mean, how often do you see the Joker cruising around in a steamroller? But my real gripe with the set is that Batplane-thing. I was hoping its ugly design would be justified by a cool transforming feature, but no, all it does is fold its wings forward to crush the Joker apparently. That's the dumbest play feature I have ever seen. I really hope that there will be a Batgirl keychain or magnet or something because there is no way I am spending all this money just to get her (and the bricklink prices probably wont be any better). Sorry for this rant, but it's pretty sad when a JUNIORS Batcave looks more appealing than the flagship set of a wave. At least the Juniors set has some useful new pieces and the new 60's-style Batman & Robin. The other sets have grown on me, though, especially the Penguin set. I like that Penguin comes with an Arkham City style coat, and Scuba Batman is too hilariously awesome to resist. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Am I the only one not liking the whole box design? I liked the way before when the minifigs would be looking forward with their reflection behind them, but now they're posed so weirdly. Well it's not like the box matters, it's the set design that does!... oh wait..................................................even that sucks! And now to wait anxiously for the reveal of a summer wave, and then get dissapointed. Quote

And now to wait anxiously for the reveal of a summer wave, and then get dissapointed. That makes two of us on the boxes. I think it's the worst of all three years. That lime green does not work with the blue. The minifigure label is indeed weird, and now you don't even see the whole minifigure. That fade only worked with the Lone Ranger sets, maybe because they weren't as character focused and the colors were unique yet effective. Edited November 21, 2013 by just2good Quote
Ceroknight Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Gah if the bat plane vehicle was just normal and didn't have to turn into something silly, the Steamroller set would have been perfect.... Loving all the other DC sets though! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Well, I still like the sets so I will get all four, but I may wait for a sale or a really good promo from Shop@Home. Batgirl is awesome and I'll have to get 2 (one for me, one for the daughter), so it won't matter about bricklink prices, I'll be paying out the nose anyway. I like getting variations of other figures, but I really only want a Burt Ward Robin, which I can tinker with in the Juniors set. Just make a few changes and it should work. I actually like the Batplane, although I would probably MOD it some to make it into a boat that can fly instead of a wheeled vehicle that can fly. Yes, I realize the mechanics wouldn't be realistic, but it's LEGO...I will probably part out the Steamroller. I love that new fur coat Penguin. I could see myself having extras of that torso for some MOCs. I love torsos that can be in modern settings or 100 years old. Quote
Oky Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I don't know, I think the green works a lot better than the orange, but I could be biased since green is my favorite color. I do agree about the minifig lineups though. The way they were before gave you a good look at the printing on the minifigs, but now it gives you an even worse look at the figs than the box art does since the accessories are covering the torsos and the legs are faded out. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I sort of like the steamroller. I agree with those that wanted a different minifig than Robin in it, though. For me, Dick Grayson is Robin so I'm not as interested in other Robins. I admit that Batgirl is the driving force for me with this set, however. I hope we get a more classic Batgirl soon, but until then, this is a must have. Quote
Cammo Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) I really like the new joker torso. Just noticed that the henchman has a different expression than the one in the batwing set. Btw the price for the new Hulk set is also listed on bol.com: 65 euro. So again, not as cheap as I hoped. Still need one to complete the essential Marvel characters. The cpt America vs hydra is more reasonable: 33 euro Edited November 22, 2013 by Cammo Quote
halomaster96 Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Oh my God! It is Damian Wayne! I'm so happy! I don't care for the short legs though but I can easily change that. Other than that and Batgirl, the Steamroller set is one of the worst I've ever seen. Come on Lego I know you can do much better than that! All the other sets are great though imo, besides Nightwing's glider, or as I call it: spare parts! Quote

Still need one to complete the essential Marvel characters. The cpt America vs hydra is more reasonable: 33 euro I'm pretty sure those aren't MSRP. All the 2014 set prices on that site are too high. There is no way that tiny Hydra tank is more than 20 Euro/Dollar, even in Europe. Quote
BrickG Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I'm thinking of going Minifigure only for Super Hero sets. Honestly, I don't really care about these builds at all. I've built enough batmobiles for a lifetime. I really want the minifigures though. I wish they'd do something like the Daily Planet. Something that isn't another kind of ridiculous vehicle. I've got enough ridiculous vehicles. Quote
North Lego Star Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 The Joker's Steamroller Set really turned out like crap if you ask me. The new Robin is really just lazy looking if you ask me, I mean it would have been ten times better if we got a Red Robin Minifig since it's a new design. We also should have gotten a new villain with this set, I think a Mad Hatter or Killer Moth would have worked well with the new Joker. Oh well I guess, the only Batman set I plan to buy is the Man Bat one since, I really like the new Nightwing and Man Bat all for only 20 dollars. Quote

Crissmonster Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) WOW! Falcon, Power Man, MODOK, Red Skull, Green Goblin, Taskmaster, and Electro! These are gonna get a lot of play at our house. I was really hoping we would get White Tiger in this wave. But this gives me hope for another cool USM set, maybe Spidey & White Tiger vs Kraven & The Lizard! Edited November 22, 2013 by Crissmonster Quote
