strangely Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Oh well; I think I just need to get use to the fact that it seems Lego does not know what to do with their Superheroes line. I don't really think it was Lego's decision. As far as I can tell DC and Marvel control the content of this line pretty well, and only allow Lego to use certain characters and certain movies for sets. Honestly if Lego had free reign of characters than this theme would be greatly different. And it seems to me that no Thor sets was Marvels decision. When I look around at the stores in my area there is little to no merchandising for it. The only action figures I've seen are on Amazon. It seems to me that Marvel has become a bit selective with how well they merchandise their franchises. I don't know why the merchandising for the movie has been so underwhelming, but it's definitely Marvels fault there's a lack of anything. Edited November 20, 2013 by strangely Quote

Last year and this year everyone was complaining about the huge number of movie based sets. Now everyone's complaining about the lack of movie sets. I remember everyone complaining about the lack of Villains on the Marvel side. Next year we're getting 5 new villains one redesigned villain and on top of that GotG and X-men villains. We will most likely see Nebula and the Collector from Guardians which is another two to the list. It's a bit crazy to me that everyone's still complaining about this theme, to me it looks like LEGO and Marvel have tried quite hard to keep fans happy while still aiming the stuff at Kids. All of the major complaints ( at least on the marvel side ) seem to have been addressed. Lack of Villains Lack of non movie based stuff Lack of X-men It just seems that LEGO will never be able to please people. Quote
legoIgor123 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I agree with Sam892, if we are patient then perhaps new sets that we all want will come. Remember this theme probably has a load more years in it. Quote
Huntleyfx Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Seeing that blown up sketch, it does look similar to one of the HYDRA vehicles form the first Captain America movie. That being said, I can make out what looks like the S.H.I.E.L.D. (some squinting required) in the center. This does fit in with what (little we know of the new film) Quote

Navy Trooper Fenson Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I personally don't see the love for a Captain America helmet in the fashion of Flash. I think it would look too giant/bulbus like it does on the new Flash anyways. Really, I think I'd be happy if they just fixed the face printing problem on him (And I suppose if he was regular blue like his classic apperance in the game; just for a change). As far as I remember LEGO never had problems with printing on the primary colors like normal blue as long as it´s not white, so that Cap is probably going to be fine with the face at least. Noticed this on Brickipedia: Here it is blown up a bit: Is this the one we're getting in 2014? No. We get the Hydra tank. The better design of the Shield tank compared to the simplicity of a bed on 8 wheels with a swivel platform should have tipped you off. Video of the tank in the game (tank actually appears at exactly 1:21 mins): To be exact, everything from the 5 Marvel sets is in the game except for the model of the laboratory, the Bank truck Spidey and the Hulk (supposing he differs from the 2012 set). It´s sad that nobody could just take screenshots of the stuff, it´s easy to spot vehicles created for the game and those that are sets The minifigs are also self-explanatory. Electro has the flying lightning platform, the lightning is blue/purple not yellow like some here hoped. Bank Truck looks much better than in that one prelim pic. First time I looked at the pic it reminded me of the 2002 ambulance from that Spider-Man 2 set. Too much air under the truck, wheels too big, front feels tacked on but it looks good in the game. Has some letter box cases on the back. Hydra Soldier looks identical to the comics just with dark green arms and legs instead of regular green. Red Skull is fine, belt a bit too big IMO. Not happy about the "tank". Nice for the olive parts but the design is comparable to what a six year old would build with his current collection. I don't really think it was Lego's decision. I don't know why the merchandising for the movie has been so underwhelming, but it's definitely Marvels fault there's a lack of anything. The toys of Thor 1 didn´t sell, that´s why. But probably because Hasbro mostly just did Thor figs with different accessories and poses, forgetting that no kid wants 10 action figures of the same guy that all pose like crap. I also think it's unfair to blame LEGO for the set choices. Last year and this year everyone was complaining about the huge number of movie based sets. Lack of Villains Lack of non movie based stuff Lack of X-men It just seems that LEGO will never be able to please people. Wanting some non-movie sets doesn´t mean we want only non-movie sets. They need to find a balance and swing from one extreme to another. The biggest problem was that Iron Man 3 got 3 sets that had barely anything to do with the actual movie, not even the figs added up, let alone the builds (even though I really like the flamethrower buggy). They just should make one set per movie with the most essential characters of the film (for Thor/IM/Cap, GOTG and Avengers 1 and 2 have to have a larger line). IM3 with only the Malibu Mansion minus Extremis soldier plus Killian would have been perfectly acceptable for IM3. Also, we don´t know anything about the X-Men sets except that we get 2 or more. And I don´t think the villains are that much better. Still too obscure for my taste with Modok, Taskmaster and mutated Mass Effect spacesuit Big Guy. Some of the bigger names are still needed, but they are getting there with Red Skull and real Ock. Quote
just2good Posted November 21, 2013 Author Posted November 21, 2013 No. We get the Hydra tank. The better design of the Shield tank compared to the simplicity of a bed on 8 wheels with a swivel platform should have tipped you off. Holy cajoli- that tank is exactly the same one in the preliminary pictures, sans a few trans 1x4x1 panels, antennas, and a window panel. Quote

All I remembered is that it was a tank-like vehicle with lots of wheels. And I thought that the sketch was done from memory so certain details may have been different. Good job finding that Hydra tank though, looks great. Quote

DJ Bricks Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Yes, that is defiantly. Damian! !!!!!!!!!!! Though i wish Batgirl. And him had double sided capes. Nice to see the return of the bang gun. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Thanks for sharing, guys! That Hydra tank is pretty ugly. Maybe I'll wait to get Cap with Avengers 2 sets. Glad to see the Steamroller! The set is sort of meh, but I love Batgirl and Damian is cute. I wish that they had double sided capes too, but I have enough Batmen that I can easily give Batgirl one of his. Quote
montgocloud Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Although I'm still puzzled on the design of that Batship, Joker's steamroller is fantastic. I love the smiling lips (Rocky Horror much? ). Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) I like Joker's road roller..... .....though Bat's plane I'm not sure about ? Hey, I'll buy all four sets.....why, because I'm hooked on them ! Now notice the date they will be available in Holland.....hmm, May 15th. Edited November 21, 2013 by lightningtiger Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Thanks for the pics legomilk! I again am still disappointed by this wave, but I guess the lack of Justice League members is made up for by the new Bat-family members? My only real problem is that no minifigures got leg printing, while some actually needed it this round (Batgirl Flash( but those are minor problems. I'm just so pleased with that Batgirl  And looking at her now, I can tell that the reason that other Batgirl was leaked, was probably because of her printing. This Batgirl has a lighter shade of yellow than the last. And did I mention that I'mm super excited for Batgirl? Quote

Clone OPatra Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Hmm, some nice stuff minifigs-wise in this wave, and a couple of missteps. The Scuba Bats would've been the perfect opportunity to give Bats a new, different third mouth expression for his alternate first, but it's the same old boring one. And Robin with short legs… why? I don't know about others, but for me personally I'd rather get longs legs and a long cape. Long capes are just so much more useful. The amount of different Robins also just doesn't make sense. Including the Arkham variant, this makes four (not including Nightwing). That said, other minifigs like the Juniors Batman and Robin, fur-coat Penguin, Nightwing, Flash, Batgirl, and even new-outfit Joker are incredibly awesome. Quote
CM4Sci Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Wow, Steam Roller set is awesome! That Bat-jet thing in it's folded form, though... -Sci Quote

Well, Batcave (juniors) Robin appears to be Dick Grayson, the short Robin is Jason Todd, and the other two are variations of Tim Drake, which I admit, did take up slots for other useful minifigs. Kez Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Thanks lego milk, Im loving all of the high res images of the sets, I cant wait to pick them all up, hopefully there will be a good promotional item for january Quote
