Piranha Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I forgot to mention, those are the descriptions from Bol.com, the website that had the Steam Roller pictures. Blame Google translate for the grammar errors. Can he keep him at bay with his super strong spider? I thought this was interesting, Iron Spider? Some other variation? Or just a grammar error? What do you guys think? Quote
montgocloud Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I'm planing on getting all the sets, and with the spidermen, I'll make a spider army! I'm thinking of playing out an alternate version of the Ultimate Spider-Man story arc "Death of Spider-Man." Instead of the following Miles Morales introduction, it'll be the "Reign of the Spider-Men!" Quote
KingPixels Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 (edited) I don't think we're getting Spidey variants or else it would probably say so in the descriptions. :( I am happy that there are lots of Spider-Men though, should be fun to make variants like Ben Rielly's and stuff. Well it looks a little strange that both the Spider-trike, Spider-Coptor and Juniors set, all have the actual Spider-man figure ( medium Blue with printing). Yet the Dr Octopus set has a unprinted Dark blue and Red figure, if that isn't an indication of a new Figure I don't know what is. Quote
Legoman123 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 When are we going to see pictures of the marvel sets? We have descriptions, but just no images. Quote
just2good Posted November 23, 2013 Author Posted November 23, 2013 When are we going to see pictures of the marvel sets? We have descriptions, but just no images. I would say February... Which was when we first got the pictures of Iron Man 3 sets. These seem like they'll be released at the same time as the Iron Man 3 sets were this year- March. Quote

Huntleyfx Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I wasn't sold on M.O.D.O.K., but after seeing how it looks in the game, I can get behind that in figure form. Quote
SMC Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 ^ yeah me too, does not look as odd as I thought it could Quote
Zzz Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 The Hulk and the Cap sets sound interesting, but I believe there is no chance for a Winter Soldier set now. Lego is making random sets to accompany the movie releases, but not real movie sets. Somewhat disappointing, but I hope they change this for GOTG. The minifig lineup from the Hulk set sounds really strange, but nonetheless very appealing to me. Quote
wesker Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I don't have a problem with the lack of Captain America 2 sets. Watching the trailer I don't see anything that leaves the impression it would make a good retail set aside from what we already have from the Avengers. It would be Iron Man 3 all over again. The only selling points would be minifigures of Falcon and Winter Soldier, and we're getting at least one of them anyway. Quote

Well, you could have made a car chase, (From when Winter soldier blows up Furys car) a small motorcycle chase with lamp post our buildings, part of a heli carrier deck with falcon. There were a few good opportunities for some solid sets. But for what ever reason, the didnt do the license. I guess there's a chance to do a repeat of the Bat vs Bane set! Quote

If they made Cap 2 sets we would only get WS, Black Widow, Cap, Fury, Falcon and Cross bones. All of those characters would be too S.H.E.I.L.D heavy, and in all honesty I think we've had way too many sets based around that organisation. So far Four out of 11 Marvel sets have been S.H.I.E.L.D vehicles. Also all of those characters are very similar, there either Soliders, Mercs or Spy's. At least with the Avengers sets were getting a bit more variety with a selection of Hydra, Mercs, Experiments gone wrong, Asguardians, a Hulk, a super solider ect. It kind off keeps the theme fresh. All the Cap sets would be rehashes of Avengers sets, it would be another S.H.I.E.L.D jeep with Fury and WS, another Quinjet with Falcon, another Helicarrier room with Cap and Black Widow. While the jeep is black in the trailer, so was the Jeep the Cosmic cube escape set was based on. It would just be Dark blue vehicles. At least next years Movie sets, Guardians of the Galaxy will be entirely original. Quote

I don't care if these sets are based off of a lackluster cartoon, I just know I'd rather get a MODOK, Taskmaster, and Red Skull over Winter Soldier and Crossbones. This also solves the "lack of villains" problem the Marvel waves had in the past because of figure repeats necessitated by movies. Edited November 25, 2013 by montyofmusic Quote
BrickG Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I'd rather have just about anyone but MODOK. Hate the d00d. He's a stupid giant head. Hated him since I was a kid. :P Bring on Apocalypse, Mr. Sinister, Sabertooth and any number of other non-stupid giant head guys. Quote

Tom Jurassic Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I think CA:TWS Soldier sets would be extemely nice since it looks like an amazing film. SHIELD is always nice to see in my books, and the secret-agent espionage aspect is likely to capture a child's imagination. I disagree, I want more SHIELD! Quote
Blakstone Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I don't care of we get more SHIELD or less. My Marvel collection is based on the MCU for the most part. Future minifigs have to be able to mesh well with them. Even the SHIELD sets had Asgardians in them such as the Cosmic Cube Escape. I agree that MODOK has always looked stupid. Give me some of the X-villians or more variety in Asgardians please. Quote
Suspsy Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I'd rather have a new Cap set that came with the Red Skull. Especially if the set consists of RS's car from the first film. I reserve final judgment on MODOK until I see the figure, but in the end, more Marvel villains are always welcome. (The Abomination, Lego, THE ABOMINATION!) Quote

There's nothing unique about the sets you mentioned. Nothing that hasn't already been released in previous Superhero sets or the City line. At least the other films had something new to offer. Avengers has the Quinjet, Iron Man 3 has the Malibu Mansion, Man of Steel has the Kryptonian dropship, The Dark Knight Rises has the Bat and Tumbler. Those are the kind of movie sets that are worth releasing. A random car or motorcycle just isn't going to cut it. Quote
KingPixels Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Damn, I was counting on being able to make a purist Winter Soldier with a scarf, but I just realised that it doesn't work with Dastan hair. Bugger. Hope we get an official one. Quote
