Oh, yeah, you're definitely right. :sweet:

I really like the figures this wave! Electro looks great! Glad they chose that style and not the other green/yellow version. Very minor nitpick, but I wish the Security Guard minifigure in the Doc-Ock set was black. They could have had three black minifigures this wave! :look:

The builds.... blech. Only build I legitimately like is the bank truck. I'll pick these up for the figures. :classic:

Kinda sad there's no Spidey variations.

Thanks for posting these, 'TinyPiesRUs'! :classic:

The sets are alright (The Spidey vehicles actually look a bit better this time around, if you ask me, but I still think they're gimicky) but the minifigs are really what sell these to me. Classic Doc Ock looks great, and he's got a hair piece I've (somehow) never gotte n before. Ultimate Electro is surprising from the classic look they gave him in the prelims, but super cool nonetheless. Of course Power Man and MJ are awesome, although Ultimate Green Goblin doesn't do anything for me. I'll definitely be picking up the Cap set for Red Skull, the Hydra Goon, and the new Captain America. The new Thor doesn't impress me quite as much as the others, especially not as much MODOK, although his chair should be included as part of the fig on the box. Purple-pants Hulk took far too long to get here and Taskmaster seems kinda out of place in that set. Pretty pleased for the most part on this batch, although I'm sure it wouldn't of killed them to swap out a Spidey set for the (hopefully one of many) X-Men set, just to add some diversity to the wave.

I'm pleased that the video game designs were used for all of the characters. Granted I wish that they hadn't done the USM version of Goblin, but the fact that they gave us the Doc Ock from the game pleases me to no end. I actually like the builds for all the sets, I don't love the color selection though. The helicopter would be great if it weren't red and blue. Electro is perplexing. I think the blue body was a mistake, they should have given him some sort of suit to wear. Honestly the differing blue is almost more distracting rather than being complementary.

Also I am so disappointed that we didn't get a new Spider-man variation. I have hated that variation for so long now, I am thoroughly irked that I'm going to have a total of five of that crummy variation while I have four Iron Man variations. The four main Avengers have at least two variations each and appear rarely in sets, meanwhile Spider-man has an entire sub-theme around him and we're still stuck with that variation. There better be an exclusive set on the way to right this.

If I get a brain aneurism as a result of the lack of two Spider-Man variations, can I hold LEGO responsible?

But the rest looks fantastic. Classic Marvel at its finest! Is Cap a new variant? Doesn't look like it to me but everyone was saying he was...

I agree 100%

If you take a closer look at Taskmaster in the catalog, he has Boromir's shield with an orange stud. Taskmaster's shield in the marvel video game is a different mold like captain america's.

Here's a picture:

I like the marvel sets overall... The one thing that I don't like is that we are not getting classic Electro. Anyone have a guess when we might hear more about X-men and GotG sets?

I'm guessing maybe May. I'm sure they'll try to keep 'em underwraps with an August release, but it's inevitable for them to be leaked on some retail site sooner nowadays.

Overall impressed with this wave just would have liked:

Spider suit variations

Classic Electro

Thor's Helmet piece

Comic book Green Goblin- This one I especially wish for :( He looked sweet in the game and I'd love him as a fig

I share the same sentiments as others regarding the lack of a Spiderman variant. As for Ultimate Electro, i'm guessing they strayed away from his classic look as to not be confused with the Hydra Soldier.

76014: Ultimate Electro is a nice surprise. One of the few Ultimate designs I prefer over the classic. The Spider-Trike is crap though, especially in comparrison to the small Spider-Car from the Juniors set. In fact I wish they'd just included Electro in the Juniors set instead of Venom and reserved this set for another superhero.

76015: Love the design of the truck and its great to finally have a classic Doc Ock. Shame he's the only new figure though. Would be nice to get a new Spider-Man variant.

76016: I like the helicopter aside from the colour selection. Wish we had gotten a classic Green Goblin first though. Not really a fan of the Ultimate design.

76017: I don't mind the tank. The build looks very simple but the colours give off a nice military feel which is rare with Lego.

76018: A little similar to the last Hulk set. I'm sure it will look better with those flying wall sections back in place.

I completely agree with your list. I get the impression that they used the USM variation of Goblin and Electro just because it was more similar to the movie versions than the 616 counterparts would have been. I mean I realize that the sets are mainly based off of USM to begin with, but Doc Ock's appearance sort of shows they aren't exactly stuck to USM variations all the time. So the variations they selected were more for tie-in purposes, a pretty calculated move on their part. After seeing the trailer the villains are definitely closer to their Ultimate counterparts.

This version of Green Goblin has grown on me. Seeing the finished product did improve my opinion of it. And I feel like one way or another they'll get to a classic Goblin eventually. I mean the TV series is bound to end eventually and at that point they'd probably start to base Spider-man sets off of something else.

Sad about the lack of Spidey variations. I mean, Batman gets a new suit every set, why not Spidey? If you are going to over-flood the market with Spider-Man sets, at least give us SOME variety. Iron Spider, Black Suit, classic Ditko style, heck, just make up an electric suit for him to wear to fight Electro. I actually vaguely remember him having something like that from a comic I had in the late 90s.

That being said, I'm for sure picking up the Cap set. I skipped on the Avengers one because I didn't care about the alien figures or build, and it looks like my waiting payed off! And bonus, he looks more like his comic version too! I'm really hoping it's a $20 set.

As fun as Spider-Man and the Avengers are, I am getting a little tired waiting for (non-Wolverine) X-Men and Fantastic Four sets. If LEGO started making those, I might just have to give them all my money. I mean, just give me my Sentinel, X-Mansion/Danger Room, and Fantasticar sets already, LEGO!

I'm as disappointed as the rest of you in the lack of variation of the heroes, but one thing the Marvel side has over DC in this wave are the villains. We get 6 villains (7 if you count the Hydra soldier!) and only two are new versions of already made characters. And both of those are fairly expensive to get nowdays (I don't count USM Ock, I think most of us agree that he wasn't great.)

I actually really like the Cap set. That's the sort of thing I wanted last wave instead of the weird Chitauri glider thing. A tank I can modify. And Red Skull is so much better than a Chitauri "general". I can see my son begging to play with the tank.

The Bank Truck is also loaded with playability there. And even though I bought one of the old Ock figs, I can't pass up this one. It would have been so easy to change Spidey's suit, so I do wish TLG had done that. No new molds or anything. Even just printing the current design on a dark blue would have been fine by me.

And I'll have to get the Lab, too, with that selection of characters. It doesn't look like much but it should fill out the Juniors Batcave nicely.

I think you guys are getting a bit spoilt. Out of the 16 total minifigs in this line (excluding the truck driver), 13 are either entirely new characters or variants on existing minifigs (9 was the total for new characters). In fact, Spidey is the only repeat in the entire line!

One by one:

76014: I might be a minority but I'm really glad we aren't getting the classic yellow and green Electro. The Ultimate one looks much nicer, and the parts will be great for purist customs. The trike is awful though. Nice amount of electricity rod pieces.

76015: Pretty boring, the only new minifig being Ock. He looks good but the truck, Spidey, and the driver don't interest me at all. I'll probably use Bricklink to get Ock and the driver (what can I say, I'm a completionist).

76016: Power-Man and Mary Jane look great, and as much as I would have liked a classic version, so does Goblin. I wonder if he has the same torso shape as Hulk. Spider-Man is the old version unfortunately.

76017: I'm very excited for this one! Classic Cap looks fantastic, and so do Red Skull and the Hydra goon. Really glad we're getting his WW2 bike rather than the 'Avenging Cycle', and the tank looks good, if a bit stingy on the olive green.

76018: This one is fantastic as well. Hulk looks great, I'm really glad he has the purple pants this time. Falcon and Taskmaster both look awesome too, as does MODOK. Classic Thor is a bit of a letdown though. It's accurate enough to the old comic version, but the torso is the only really new bit. The head is generic enough, and the legs and hips are totally printing-free. Disappointing.

I'm definitely looking forward to this wave. Really great selection all around.

By the way, are the X-Men and GotG sets confirmed, or still speculation? They still sound too good to be true!

One more thing. If Electro is based on the cartoon, then what is this from?:

That's also from Ultimate Spider-man. In Electros first appearance it's explained that he's a really crappy second rate villain who Spider-man doesn't really consider a threat. He wears that original green and yellow costume for about 10 mins, before being over loaded with electricity and mutating into his ultimate form. So really both versions of electro have appeared on the show, but the Ultimate version is the one they have been sticking with after that episode.

Also since we're getting Classic Ock, I'm predicting that we will get a Classic Green Goblin down the line.

Did no one noticed they put the wrong name by the electro set and the doc ock set? They flipped them around. Not that it matters to us, but to the lesser known people it might confuse them.

As far add the figures, I'm torn. I haven't paid much attention to marvel outside of x-men and most recently the avenger movie, so I don't know much about what I'm looking at. I don't have the 'gotta have them all' vibe I had originally. I even have the usm doc ock and he was ugly, although his face can work for a neat custom figure. Anyway, I don't even know who modok is, so I don't car about how he turned out. I actually kind of like that Thor personally. The new hulk is upsetting since I bought an extra of the old one for my daughter. I could have just given her this one. Hydra goon f does nothing for me. So I mostly just want electro, classic doc ock, thor and maybe red skull...whereas I will probably pick up all of the dc sets because I need more Batman rogues but I'd love more variety there too.

I noticed that when I first got the catalogue in the mail but I didn't think it was noteworthy.

Prelim pictures used a different version of electro and now they swapped it out with this "blue" version. We might still see the original green and yellow version somewhere else. Only time will tell
